This was the best new show of the 2008 – 2009 season! It wasn’t just a new show – it was a new genre, more science fact than science fiction. They turned the crime procedural upside down, by investigating crimes of a scientific nature, rather than using science to investigate everyday crimes.
This was probably the lesson of the century when it comes to relying on a lead-in timeslot for promotion. They just stuck it on after CSI and never really did anything to promote the show. Millions of viewers were lost because it didn’t occur to CBS that Eleventh Hour might appeal to a different audience than CSI, an audience that was never made aware of the show.
Of course, CBS found plenty of money to promote NCIS Los Angeles, so I suppose they did learn their lesson about not relying on a lead-in. Too bad it’s an action show masquerading as a crime procedural maquerading as a decent spinoff.

Why do they cancel the shows where you are required to use your brain and actually have something to think about instead of mindless rubbish such as Big Brother and those endless reality tv shows? This was one of mine and my family’s favourite shows and I’m devastated that there won’t be any more.

I LOVED this show. I thought it was very well put together. The characters and plots kept me wanting more. I was excited to see how the relationship between the two main characters would grow…This was probably my favorite show…I can’t believe it was cancelled!!!

Well, it was a real good show… I get angry because it’s not the first time a good show – one that makes you use your brain instead of reviving high school dramas – is canceled… What is wrong with the producers/networks????

I really miss Eleventh Hour and was very shocked that it did not come back! It was a breadth of fresh air! All of the CSI shows are yesterdays news … they have run their course and gone dry for me! I hope some network picks up Eleventh Hour!

I’ve been a long time fan of Rufus Sewell, a mesmerizing actor of immense talent. However, I must admit this series left me cold. It was too dark and creepy, and Sewell was always mumbling. I’d love to see him in another American series, though.

I agree 100 percent with what every one here is saying.. no one likes survivor any more… its lame!! and CSI..well that was my favorite show on tv but with the major cast change.. no longer to i watch that.. Apparently people would rather watch “the hills” and “real” something of something. I always find it sad how dumbed down our culture has become. Come on people, none of those “reality” shows actually show anything real. Yet excellent television like Eleventh Hour (which actually had a broad fan base) get swept under the rug because they are too intelligent. Its disappointing when a show that finally brought something new (even though it started out a British show) and smart, gets cancelled just because.

I usually do not blog about a mere television show, but Eleventh Hour was a mind blowing, nail-biting experience for me. Not just the scientific parts, but how science is applied and studied to bring light onto subjects otherwise shrouded in mystery. Its like Numbers but with hotter women in the cast. Not only that it taught science as well, Hood explained his methods in layman’s terms so those at home that did not understand right away go a glimpse of what he meant. His genius was the turning point in solving the case and bringing the “ethicless” to justice. I am only one man putting what I felt when I experienced the show. But by some “other geniuses” standpoint felt it necessary to just cancel a very important and eye-opening television experience. So, good job *******!!!

Eleventh Hour is an excellent show. It is unique, what with the Jacob Hood character being a world-reknowned scientist and coming in at the “Eleventh Hour” as a “last hope” to solve a problem harming humanity. The show is much more interesting than many of the same old relics like Law & Order, and junk reality shows that are sadly so prevalent.

My wife and I have been waiting for the second season to start. When it didn’t start, we searched cbs.com and found out that, despite a viewier audience of 12 Million, it got cancelled. That is ridiculous. That are many, many shows that are of far less quality and yet they go on for a few years and some even last several years.

CBS: BRING BACK ELEVENTH HOUR. Or, at least sell the rights to another network (i.e., “JAG” from NBC cut to CBS success) so the 12 Million plus of us who liked the show can enjoy it.

I did the same thng. I have been looking for the second season to start and found this. I agree this show is second to Fringe. I do like the mentalist but I liked Eleventh hour better. How many survivors can people stand. Law and Order feels like a relic now.
Please bring back Eleventh Hour or let another network do it!

Ditto to all of the previous comments on the Eleventh Hour! I thought it was great and again, the last show left us wanting for more…perhaps the USA network will pick it up and continue production like it did with Law & Order Criminal Intent. I say that viewers should have a vote on the shows that stay or go, especially when there is such a large viewing audience. And while I love the CSI shows, the original without Gil Grissom just is NOT the same. Kathryn is a hard looking woman who’s getting a bit long in the tooth for my taste and she just can’t carry the show. And while Lawrence Fishborne is a fine actor, he just seems to be an actor on the show, going through the lines, not becoming the character. So, why not dump one CSI and put the 11th Hour back on or Without A Trace…just something different, well-written and acted?!?!

We so wish that CBS would reconsider the cancelation of Eleventh Hour. It was a great show, second to Fringe. I just don’t understand why these networks cancel the great shows and let the mediocer ones continue. Take a vote of the viewers and actually read their responses before cancelling a show. Afterall, isn’t getting the viewers part of the grand scem of things for them. Change time slots or something before cancelling a show to get a real idea of whether it’s a hit or not.

I’ve been keeping an eye on my TV guide to see when the current season of Eleventh Hour would begin which led me to this blog. I really didn’t expect this news, and I’m glad to see so many agree with how I feel. This was a SMART show. The acting was top notch, the dialogue was sharp, and the story lines and relationships were interesting. I’m so tired of the mindless, graphic, bloody, melodramatic garbage which pervades the networks. Perhaps another network will pick it up.

The Eleventh Hour was a great show. I think it’s ratings were poor because of the 1o:00 pm time slot. I think the Mentalist should have been cancelled instead. I think the Mentalist had higher ratings because it was in a better time slot.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the cancellation of Eleventh Hour. I was amazed by the scientific facts the show presented us with. Also, the show gave us a new look on death and detective shows. I wish they would reconsider showing Eleventh Hour.
As for “Reality Shows” go I think they are pointless. They have nothing to do with actual reality. They should be canceled!
CSI:Crime Scene Investigation also has made me upset. I was a huge fan of Gil Grissom. I have no problem with Laurence Fishburn, but they should have found a way to combine the two characters. Not to mention, there could have been a way for Gil and Sarah to be together without getting rid of him. I loved Warrick, and they just totally killed him off.
CBS should step up and make some changes for the better not the worse.

I couldn’t agree more; between the idiotic reality shows and the inane comedy (can you even call it comedy?) shows, CBS can’t find (since they “borrowed” EH from the BBC) nor recognize intelligence or sophistication. Given the drastic changes undermining CSI, they may find they’ve lost that program as well while they threw out Eleventh Hour, a show they should have nurtured. I’ll go with the stylish Burn Notice and other cable shows reminiscent of the programs I used to be able to expect on network TV.

I was really looking forward to a new season of The 11th hour this year and so was my husband we would skip Family Guy to watch it every Thursday. Well Cbs you are on the chopping block anyway as a t.v. station I hear. It makes me wonder why. Maybe cuz all you want to show is reality shows and noone wants to watch you. Oh well I guess I’ll go back to my Twilight saga now.

This is so incrediably sad, 11th Hour was a show that my teens and I regularly came together to watch. We would all right down a solution after the presented the problem and at the end of the night some might be right or none were but we were engaged together and having a lot of fun.

Booo to CBS! Survivor? CBS will not survive much longer if they continue to cancell shows that brings families together for some special time. I haven’t been this disapointed about a show cancelling since 7th Heaven and that ran for another 7 years after WGN brought it back.

With the cancellation of the unit and eleventh hour I have no reason to watch cbs so I won’t I will stick to the cable movies and other shows and skip all the stupid mind numbing assinine reality shows. Eleventh Hour and Monk were the only shows I made an effort to watch. Great show and the stories took place in different places not just the same city like most shows. Should have aired at 9 eastern and gotten word out to science teachers to ask their students watch… CBS -bring this one back.

Eleventh Hour is a fantasic show! I had my DVR all set to record the next season and was starting to wonder why I hadn’t seen any previews…just to find out it was cancelled! What a bad a decision! The characters were fantastic and the episodes always had you sitting on the edge of your seat! I was hooked as soon as I watched the first show and am so disappointed to hear of this cancellation. I can only hope that there are some serious reconsiderations made about this decision!

I am extremely disappointed to find this show cancelled. I’d like to have a job as a network executive so I can make extremely stupid decisions and still get paid. When a show ends up with more viewers than it started with, how is it not considered successful? This show was better than all the CSI’s; maybe a cable channel will pick it up (like USA did for Law and Order Criminal Intent), and we can watch it there. I guess all the network executives thought that viewers were too stupid to understand the show. They are so used to catering to the fools that think these “reality” shows are real. The crap they put on TV is the execs way of having job security by keeping people brain-dead so no one will be smart enough to complain.

I know, I know… this is my third post, but I was reading back through some of the other comments others made and it made me realize that I didn’t start watching Seinfeld till the 3rd season and it became one of my favorite shows. The others are right. 18 episodes is not enough time to build a fan base. They are wasting more money starting up new shows every year, rather than giving some of these other shows a chance. I am not going to watch any “new” shows from CBS, because I am sure they will be pulled if I enjoy watching them. I promise this is my last post.

CBS has a track record of doing this, and I am about ready to give up on them altogether, in spite of the fact that I love Two and a Half Men, and Big Bang Theory is the smartest comedy I have ever seen. CBS really needs to start rethinking their decisions.

I agree… it was a great show that I had just started watching. I am sorely disappointed with the rash decisions of the networks to pull shows without really giving them a chance. I was just as disappointed when Jericho was pulled off the air, and in spite of our efforts to protest it, they still cancelled it after making a few new episodes. It is a shame that the networks are so short sighted. This show was never really promoted, and I just happened on it by accident. That is the same with Jericho.

How out of touch do you have to be to not realize what a great show the Eleventh Hour is? Seriously! Who decides on these cancellations? This was one of the best shows on TV! Now wake up CBS and get this show back on the air!!! I’m so sick of starting new TV series’ and getting hooked and then some a-hole at the networks decides to cancel the show without, AT THE VERY LEAST, completing the storyline. Is it too much to ask to at least finish the story in a mini-series or TV movie? Good grief. These networks expect us to continue to jump at the new shows they air but it seems like they pull names out of hats when they decide what to cancel and rarely, if ever, give the writers at least a couple episodes to try and wrap up the storyline. If you want us to watch new shows and be loyal to them then you, the networks, should be obligated to always wrap up the story. It’s really the least you could do for your loyal fan base.

I’m going to miss Eleventh Hour–it was one of my favorites. CBS keeps cancelling all the good shows. When will they Exec’s realize that we are all sick of Reality Shows and don’t want to watch them anymore.
Bring back the good shows–especially Eleventh Hour–it was the best show on.
CSI is getting old and older by each season–don’t even watch it anymore. Boring same old stuff.

CBS is cancelling all the good shows. The elventh hour was a greatt show . my favorite. they should realy bring it back, and release the season one dvd.

I loved Eleventh Hour!!!!!! I kept looking for previews for the season to start. CBS, I’m through with you! I absolutely HATE all the reality TV shows. I have very few shows that I actually like (Eleventh Hour, Flashpoint) and you keep canceling them. Why bother watching CBS. I will pass this on to my friends and family also.

You have GOT to be kidding me!? Why is it that CBS feels the need to cancel this show?? WHY? Because there wasn’t enough SEX or BOOBS in it for them? I do not understand!? They boast about “Watch CBS’s Most Popular show ELEVENTH HOUR NOW! on CBS!” for what?? So, it can be ripped away from all of us 12 MILLION viewers?? And how does that happen? I mean, the decision to abruptly cut a show practically mid-season, with only 18 episodes to the first season, AND never to return?? I think that really blows…which makes me wonder, is that what happened to FLASHPOINT too?? If so, I’m DONE with CBS!

I have truely enjoyed the Eleventh Hour shows. Reality TV is stupid. I watch primarily CBS shows but will sorely miss the one. Please reconsider cancelling.

Since the fall is here I was trying to find out when Eleventh Hour was going to start this season and then I found this blog. I tell you television has gone to heck. Every time I turn around it is another reality TV show with people just sticking it to each other. I am sick and tired of this kind of television. CBS, unfortunately you are not good anymore and I am going to stop watching you.
