After watching most of the episodes, my opinion is that it was a fun concept crippled by an obvious leftist agenda and some very odd transformation of the outward appearances of several of the major characters. The patent one-sided attack on teen celibacy and traditional Christian values in the early episodes together with mixed messages speaking authoritatively on biblical issues show the writers’ ignorance of Judeoa-Christian teachings and values. The final episode proved to be a litany of innuendos, from “don’t ask, don’t tell” to once again absolutely caricaturing Christian believers while enjoining the strength of atheistic morality. I love sci-fi and toying with generic faith concepts, but with the clear agenda of the writers, I’m glad Eli Stone was cancelled.

I love the season 1 finale with the George Michael song. I wish I could get that song, but I could only find it sold in JAPAN. Now I’m suck with Michael Buble’s version and everyone else who’s remaking it. I heard George sing it first so it’s my favorite! I love that scene with everyone dancing and singing!

I just started watching Eli Stone three days ago (streaming on Netflix) due to a skydiving accident that forced me to stay home for a while. I was hooked immediately and couldn’t stop watching it. I don’t watch much TV so I missed its regular programming.

Wait a minute!! There were three seasons? I only saw two. Got to check back with Netflix.

Why is it that good, high morale shows always get canceled first? I can’t believe that sophomoric shows like “The Jersey Shore” get the highest ratings and go on forever.

There’s always a silver lining to every setback: my skydiving accident forced me to stay home and watch streaming movies on Netflix. I never saw Eli Stone during its regular programming. Not realizing that it’s been cancelled, I immediately became addicted after watching S1, Ep1–the Pilot. I watched all of the episodes in two days. I loved everything about it: the plot, the drama, the humor, the characters, the music. It’s probably the most unique TV show I’ve seen in a long time. But horror of all horrors: I didn’t know that the show has been canceled. Yep, I’ve been living under a rock until my skydiving accident.. or, let’s say, I’ve been living way up high in the stratosphere and didn’t know what was going on at ABC and Eli Stone. Now that my feet are planted back on terra firma, please give me back my Eli Stone. Please….., pretty please.

This show looks at the most intimate parts of ourselves. The social, political, and moral implications present something that we all want to contribute to. The plots drive us closer to thinking outside the box of social injustice, and hopefully brings us beyond televisions irrelevant, unworthy, sense of frivolous plots. I have never felt more touched by television and hope this show will continue independently beyond network bureaucracy. THANKFULLY—-shows such as this will have more opportunities as the networks are not keeping up with the new trend of watching television. Ratings cannot be monitored by the standard process of time slots…..we shall see who keeps up with times.

‘infinitive possibilities’ – love this expression, haven’t stopped laughing yet.

Eli Stone had some great sequences, but it frequently got lost, and some of the principal characters were pretty two-dimensional and dull. The failure of the show came as no surprise. I still craved more of the fun singing and dancing sequences (Glee fills that need nicely), but the rest of the show was largely insignificant – the law stories, fighting the corner of the little guy or a particularly strange case has been done before (LA Law, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, etc.) ad nauseum, and the religious overtones were tiresome at best (if I wanted self-important fools telling me how to live my life, I’d have gone to church).

For the first time i watched Eli Stone , i just feel nothing. But after i watched the next episodes , i’m in love with it. So i hope that Eli Stone will have a new season. The third season of Eli Stone. I think that the other fans are hoping the same as i am. Although I agree with the points you make, life is life, and sometimes these tv shows reflect the attitudes of the time. At the same time, it could be argued that they direct attitudes as well. But if we look back into history and recoil with horror at what people accepted as normal then, it isn’t how they saw it. Some resigned themselves to their fate, or had no power to change it, and others fought against it – which is why I believe in organisations like Trades Unions. So a good mix of tv shows covering all viewpoints, gives an overview of life and allows us to decide the good and the bad. It seems to me that for tv shows to continue, season after season, is stifling talent that produce ideas like “Eli Stone”. There will always be some bad apples in the bunch, that we would question how they justified making. But I’d rather have the choice of switching off the tv, when I dislike what I’m watching. The one trend that I don’t like, is the pre-programme announcement warning you about any unpleasantness – I’ll decide that, I don’t need someone else warning me.
Probably like you, I don’t just watch a programme as simple entertainment. I receive the messages it gives, and gain an overall understanding of people and their characteristics. This is not just confined to the characters, but the scenery, general action, etc. So I feel that I always gain something from each show. The golden period for UK tv was in the 1960s and 70s, when lots of new ideas were being presented in some excellent programmes. Many pulled no punches and showed the darker side of living. In fact UK tv shows often end on a sour note, because life is not always a golden spoon.
So I shall watch “Eli Stone” with interest and hopefully continued enjoyment, but I shall also hope that other ideas come to fruition in a tv show. We have a fair mix of American and UK shows on British tv, but rarely from other countries, which is a pity. So I bolster my viewing with many dvds of foreign language films from all over the world. What seems outrageous in some cultures is average in another, still.

For me, it is not just that they decided to cancel this show….it is what it’s about. It is a show that makes you wonder about the infinitive possibilities that are there within ourselves for us and for the good of the people around us that we usually do not take the time to explore. It is to have a show that presents the best of people and not the other way around. The majority of the TV’s shows are full with violent, extreme nudity, etc. and where it is not reinforced the necessity of bringing out the best of people instead of the worst. I know it is up to oneself to decide the best choice but when the TV is filled with rage, hate, envy and a lack of group consciousness, it makes it harder for people to do good. For example: go to the movies and see a war movie where everyone hates and kill each other…for their own personal believes!…..how do you feel just when you get out of the movie?…now go and see a movie with a higher purpose…something like “What dreams may come” with Robin Williams…and see how you feel as soon as you get out! I understand that everything has a beginning and an ending, but let’s try to make these new beginnings with higher purposes for all!

I’ve just started watching ELI STONE in the UK, so I’m right at the start. I like Jonny Lee Miller as an actor and was curious to know what the series was all about. I’ve seen a number of US tv shows where a lot of the actors are not American and yet have learnt American accents. I don’t know how Americans see this but usually with the other way around, British accents are not done well by non-native Brits. Anyway I liked the first episode of ELI STONE and will continue watching. Obviously I’ll only be able to see three seasons, but this will take a couple of years, probably. But I don’t understand this business of ‘cancelling a show’. What constitutes a show’s run? UK shows run at different lengths. Some run for one season, some for two, and some just keep going. But if they stop, then that’s it. No tears, it just didn’t get off the ground, or there wasn’t any more that could be written about. So surely if a show finishes, whether or not early, it’s not a cancellation is it? It’s the natural course of events. Keeping a show going for a long time, it seems to me, blocks other creative ideas. I’d rather have short runs of different shows, than one that gets tired in the end.

I think this channel has lost it’s mind! Canceling the best shows
who everybody seems to love. The money spend on this show is
earned back EASILY with the DVD’s they sell.

They keep canceling shows because they have one or two viewers
too little and it’s starting to be very annoying!
People stay home for these shows and make it their weekly joy!
ABC sucks us in and then spits us out…. seriously, it starts to annoy
me VERY much.

Finally got around to watching the final episode today. I just couldn’t come to grips with seeing the last episode, and that being the end, and so it sat on my dvr for several months. It was such an amazing show that transcended everything else on tv. I am a huge tv fan and watch all the cop shows, etc. but this really felt like it was something different, and actually touched my heart in a way that no show has ever been able to. I will sorely miss it.

On a side note, http://www.cowonthewall.com/projects/elistone/, has all the theme music from the show available for streaming. The closing theme, Everyman’s Talisman, is just beautiful.

I really liked this show as well. It was a really good break from life to watch this show every episode that just seemed to really touch the right nerve in me. It’s too bad that shows like this have to be cancelled, and I dont see why stations like TNT or USA would pick it up. These are the shows that people would love to see and go there to see them. Instead, we have NBC putting “The Tonight Show” on with Jay Leno 5 nights a week starting an hour earlier than it was before. WHO CARES? Put a real show on. If Jay was so great, then why put Conan on there? Geesh. This is just stupid as hell

I personally liked Eli Stone and have enjoyed watching the first season and now I hear it’s cancelled. It is sad that a show that isn’t drenched in violence and sex cannot make it in today’s world. It’s the American people who vote with their TV viewing that makes these shows go away. People are getting synical and predictable and our morals are going down the tubes. We see every aspect of life going down the tubes, so it’s a shame a good show like this has to be cancelled. I cannot believe that they couldn’t have sold the show on to TNT or USA Network. MONK is going away, and this show could definitely fit into that slot. Oh well, it’s a shame. Great show

I think Eli Stone was one of the best shows ever put on TV. I too couldn’t wait until the next episode. I don’t know what happened but I only saw 2 episodes and I thought there were going to be at least 4. How disappointing!

Eli Stone was the only TV show that I watched on a regular basis on prime time TV. ABC, NBC and CBS only put on a bunch of crap in my book and the shows aren’t worth watching.

I just can’t believe they did away with it! My whole family loved this show! I kept waiting to see it return and when I saw the four shows on Saturdays I knew something was up. How dare they. I can’t believe this! Out of the 5 shows I watched and LOVED this last year, you know how many are coming back or have come back this year? 1!!!!!!!!!! Eli Stone was the most amazing show I have EVER watched! When I saw it on the first Saturday I was so happy… I told my husband, “See! It came back!” I thought maybe they took a week off or something when it didn’t come on last Saturday….. I am truly heartbroken that this show is not coming back. It was one of the few shows out there that had a good meaning behind it. It didn’t focus on vampires, wars, or other stupid things like that….. I mean they are ok, but you need a different kind of show out there sometimes! To the actors and people who worked on this show, I believe you did an amazing job and will miss watching your work every week! Thank you for producing a wonderful work of art!

Loved this show. Would be thrilled to see it return. I agree that ABC could have made a better decision. But that’s the way it goes. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Some brilliant mind canceled Star Trek after just a few episodes and look what happened. So someday the executives who made the decision here could also come to regret it. I do wish that networks could see their way to supporting gems like this one, really supporting them, and giving audiences a chance to find them. Maybe they’ll put it up on Hulu. It was a wonderful series and deserved a far, far greater audience.

Dumbest idea that ABC could’ve made. There’s so many shows that are moronic on tv and no one cares about them. There’s also so many shows that are the exact same shows with just different people writing them and acting in them. Eli Stone was actually a different and original show. It was a wonderful show. And all they do is take it away? ABC has some of the worst shows on their network and they take away one of their best? It’s illogical. And just so ABC knows… there’s only about 3 other shows that I like on the network which I will continue to watch, although not necessarily on their network. Other networks contain those shows too, and those are the ones I will be watching. Eli Stone I have been watching it religiously since the day it first aired… and now I’m just completely pissed off about it. If I could hit the people who cancelled the show, I would in an instant.

I want to re-watch the Eli Stone.
There are scenes within, where characters don’t say too much. However, what little they do say, speaks volumes. The portrayals do justice to the story, rather than jabber to fill in as much words as possible.
ie . Take the Season 2 Finale’s closing scene with Eli and his father Aaron atop the mountain.
Magic.

I wonder if the show could be bought off ABC.
Is there another network willing to prop up what could be one of the all-time TV greats?

I thought it was going to be repeats when I came across Eli Stone on a Saturday night at 10:00. I had already Netflixed the previous seasons and couldn’t get enough But when I noticed (original air date}… I was thrilled and immediately DVr’d the series. I checked twice this last Saturday to see if it said “Final” anywhere on the screen, then I asked the question…and found this website. I hope it returns and I have enjoyed reading other people comments and feeling there desire for the show to return. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Eli Stone had eveything including wonderful acting. The story lines were exceptional.

Our family is really sad and shocked that this show has been cancelled. We too DVR the show and just got the news. It’s one of two shows we enjoy and can watch with our 13 year old son who loves it too. Thanks to ABC there’s nothing left on their network that lives on our DVR schedule.
Thank you to all the people who worked so hard on this show and entertained us. Goodbye ABC. You’ll soon be going the way of the American Automakers because you only cater to the mindless public who doesn’t care about quality.

I am truly upset by the cancellation of this show. It was so well done and promotes thought and goodness. Why is this type of programming so hard to keep on tv? It’s really too bad, but ABC killed this show when they decided not to renew it. The ratings weren’t great, but they weren’t weak, either. Until November 2008, the show was doing okay. The moment the cancellation rumors started, people tuned out, likely not wanting to invest any more time in a show that was just going to end. It’s really a shame when 8 million people, the population of all of New York City, isn’t enough to keep a show alive. That’s to be expected, I suppose, when you move a show around like ABC did this this, Life On Mars, and anything else that doesn’t bring in 20 million viewers.

My heart is broken. I cannot believe a show of such excellence has been cancelled. Each character brought so much to the series; the story lines were so well written; after each show I couldn’t wait until the next one was to air. The last eposide moved me to tears because I knew it was the last. There was so much more for Marc Guggenheim to tell us with all the wonderful story lines left uncomplete because of ABC’s cancellation of one of the greatest series ever produced. What on earth were they thinking . . . shame on them. But thank you Marc for giving all your loyal fans 2 seasons of the best show that ABC or for that matter, any of the networks, have ever broadcast.

It seems few and far between to find shows that have any kind of redemptive quality to them. Eli Stone was a bright spot in the week to look forward to. It has been something different, something worth a tear and a laugh, and of course we fell in love with all the characters. It’s such a travesty to lose such a bright point in the week. I wish there were networks that cared more about the quality of what they were showing than the never ending pursuit of “viewers” or the eternal shuffle of the newest ideas to a voyueristic and fast food society. Truly a sad day to hear this kind of news.

It has been so long since I felt warm and comforted by a TV show. They just don’t come along very often and they don’t last either. Another disappointment from ABC.

Strange. Any time a series comes along that explores ethics, morals and all views of religion and faith…and leaves a comfortable, warm , contented feeling after watching it…well…it gets cancelled. What’s up with THAT???

I couldn’t believe I turned on ABC one Sat nite in June and had now missed 2 of the last 4 epsiodes which I only find out about doing a search on the 3rd show. I keep hoping it will come back for another season. All the crappy shows seem to be aired and the great ones are not due to the “Numbers”.

I thought the show was going to return this fall. I did not even know that the show was on for 4 weeks. That goes to show how they planned to kill the show. One of the best abc shows I liked, same goes for Kyle XY. They did the same thing. I not gonna bother with abc anymore

being such an avid follower of Eli and all his constituents I can not fathom that no more will be known of their lives. I hope that another network picks up this awesome show. Even a thousand miles apart my daughter and i would tune in just to see what happened next. Losing this show has saddened me to no end.

I am very disappointed that Eli is finished–I was ready to see what would happen with him and Think Brave. I truely enjoyed this series and it shared good things about people which doesn’t happen often–I would even compare it with Highway to Heaven-another of my all-time favorite shows. It is rare opportunity when television actually breaks the mold and doesn’t incorporate all the little things that every show out there MUST add in to make their characters comfortable for all audiences. Eli shone through as a bright spot on ABC–too sad that they chose to end it–but it doesn’t follow “their type” of programing–no compromises. Good job Marc Guggenheim for being true to your audience!! Thanks–wish it could go on…..

I can’t believe the network would cancel a show like Eli Stone. I am really tired of the reality shows that take so much air time. Finally it was a show one could watch and escape all the day to day boy and girl drama. I am really going to miss this show.

I can’t believe ABC cancelled Eli Stone. Just when something good comes along it never lasts. It must be a sad state of society today that people would rather watch murder, rape etc. then a show that promotes something good, kind and even though it might be a little far fetched it makes you feel wonderful. And the networks continue to air the garbage that they do, thinking that Americans are too stupid to know better.
Oh How Corporate Greed carries on.

People that make decisions at ABC have no earthly idea what a good show is if it bit them in the bum!!! I am so sad this is cancelled. I adored this show. I hope some other network picks it up. There is so much garbage on TV today, this is something that made you smile, sigh and enjoy TV for an hour each week. Such a sad decision.

Well what can I say, I’m devastated, it’s a shame, it’s a crime. This show was so full of talent, people that were good and they could even sing! Not just a select few, all of them! They even had Seal on for an episode. When the last episode was over, I cried, and that says something, because I’m not somebody who cries for any show/movie.

There are no words from the greatness that is this show. I’m angry, sad, and frankly confused that this show is now gone, when the airwaves are still filled with garbage like the Bacheloret, big brother, and all the rest of those damn reality shows which is filled with no-talent rubbish!

Guggenheim, in the off chance that you get this message, please try to get another network to pick this show up.

My wife and I enjoyed Eli Stone very much and are sad to see it end. The last
show was as well done as all of the others and brought closure to the show.

I have been watching a lot of tv for over 40 years & have seen the end to a lot of great series from Mash to Battlestar Gallactica–some had excellent endings & others just left you unsatisfied.

The final episode of Eli Stone was the best of the bunch & should be held as a tribute to everyone involved–it was amazingly well-done as it left nothing unfinished.

Bravo.

It will be missed.

I am just so sad this is the last episode. Of all the junk I TIVO, this was the show I watched first, every time it came on.

Wish ABC would reconsider.
