Falling Skies: Renewed for Fifth and Final Season on TNT

Falling Skies TV show on TNT endingTNT renewed Falling Skies for a fifth season of 10 episodes but that will be the end of the sci-fi series. TNT president Michael Wright said in a statement, “Falling Skies has begun an ambitious and thrilling story arc this summer as it sets the stage for next year’s climactic final season.”

On Falling Skies, the human resistance struggles for survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. The cast includes Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Colin Cunningham, Connor Jessup, Maxim Knight, Sarah Sanguin Carter, Mpho Koaho, and Seychelle Gabriel.

While the series is still performing well for TNT, the (current) fourth season is down by 14% in viewership when compared to season three. The audience for Falling Skies has been declining since the first season when it averaged 4.7 million viewers each week.

The Last Ship and Major Crimes have also been renewed for next summer.

What do you think? Are you glad that Falling Skies will be back next summer? Do you agree with the decision to end it?

Great series, but I can’t wait for it to end….meaning, it’s not one I want to have dragged on and on…it needs to end at some point, and season 5 seems like the perfect time to do it….

Agree with the Lexi miscalculation. Think they could have done more with the Volm storyline, but that’s why I’m not a professional screenwriter.
Also, on TNT, too many commercials. Got uncomfortable to watch.

Great series. Why end a good thing? If the ratings need a recharge, make a blockbuster movie.

Great show. I agree that we need a true sci fi show. I think they have done about all they can do with the invasion so I kind of think one more season of rebuilding would complete the arc of the plot. Not much drama in citizen soldiers becoming farmers but who knows?

Glad they’re going to finally end this family sissy drama that just drags on and on and on and on. You want a Scifi show bring Michael Bay or JJ Abrams on board. Show us the big guns, the cool CGI, gives us Star Wars , don’t give us a half pipe dreams. This poor excuse for a Scifi show should have been cancelled at the end of season 1 with this Cornell Harvard Princeton historian for a president ??? Really ??? Like no one else could be a president in Charleston of 300 people from Boston. It’s like family matters meets step by step meets terminator salvation meets Independence Day and then gets eaten by the poorly made predator franchise and then gets spit out to into a wanna be the Walking Dead post epidemic apocalyptic world. Pleasseeeeee, the worlds greatest Airforce could have easily taken anyone and anything. USAaaaaaa baby :) where we like big productions that are shot here not in Canada :) time to go now a better show is calling my attention.

This is a great scifi series. here aren’t enough true science fiction programs. Too many are more like horror than scifi. I have been a fan since the beginning. TNT should reconsider ending it next season.

Really liked the show and it’s premise the first couple of years, but think it has gotten too scattered going off in too many different tangents including the Lexi growing up so fast. It started off with really good scripts and excellent story line, but has been getting weaker. However, I still am a fan and continue to watch hoping it will improve.

I am a fan and keep waiting for each new season. I was into comic books as a kid and I am not one of the real avid sci-fi fans. I haven’t even seen the latest Star Trek, but as one fan alludes to above, we need some type of departure from the sitcoms, detective dramas and reality shows.

It’s dark, which I love, but raises great questions about what people would do when pushed and other moral issues, plus call to question violence versus reason and of course the overriding human spirit! All without being too whimpy.

Besides if someone like Pope can be made into a societal contributor, then there’s hope for all of us!

I love this show and disagree with the decision to cancel with great actors and writing that can go in many directions. Make a movie to reinvigorate the ratings. If this is cancelled then they better bring back X files because there is always needs to be a show like this to offset the many bad sitcoms and reality shows.

I can’t believe they are going to cancel such an awesome series. I have been hooked on this show from day one. TNT needs to keep this series going as there are a lot of loyal fans..

We love the show and have been super fans since day one. I hate that it will end. Make it last a6th season. We are glued to the top every week. Don’t believe the percentages. Most of us have only cell phones.
