ABC quietly unveiled a new reality series on Tuesday night. Like the network’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series, Find My Family had audience members reaching for the tissues by the box. But, more importantly for the show’s future, how did it do in the ratings?
Hosted by Tim Green and Lisa Joyner, Find My Family helps people reconnect with family members after being separated for many years. The emotional reunions take place on-camera and in front of a place known as the “Family Tree.”
Following the performance finale of Dancing with the Stars, the premiere of Family attracted 12.76 million viewers and a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those numbers look okay on their own but its significant that the series lost about 40% of its lead-in audience. ABC can’t be happy about that.
The real test will be next Monday’s broadcast though. Family won’t have the powerful Dancing lead-in and will expand to one hour.
What do you think? Is Find My Family worth watching or should ABC cut this series short? Cancel or keep it?

Bring Find my Family back to TV
Find My Family is a fraud. I know people who were on the show. They were in contact with their bio family months before ABC “found” them.
We loved the show and dearly miss it. Has it been canceled? Sure hope not. It was a good clean family show that had depth and meaning. We need more of that kind of viewing.
No Please don’t cancel this show. I watched the first 3 episodes and became glued and wanted to see more of this but now I can’t seem to find this show and wondering if it already got canceled or where it went to? I have searched my DVR several times and can’t find this show anymore. Please what happened?
I Loooooooooooooooooooooove the show! My 15 years old daughter and I watch it every Monday! I agree with one of the comments above that states it will have you reaching for a tissue throughout the show. However, I still feel it is one of the best shows around. It is amazing to me to see the resemlance in the parent, son and or daughter. I was so upset to find that it would not be coming on because the bachelor is on now. I do not watch the Bachelor. Furthmore, I do not watch channel 7 at all on Mondays and will probably not watch it unless Find my Family comes back on. Please do not cancel the show.
I was really enjoying this show and both my husband and I wondered what happened??? It is dealing with an issue that is important to many. Reunification was done very well by these folks, and touched the heart. There aren’t enough uplifting shows on tv, and this WAS one. We miss it. Can you bring it back???!!!
This was truly an enjoyable show. It was nice to watch something that didn’t involve any violence or vulgarity for a change. Please bring Find My Family back. We need to get back to wholesome television.
You have to bring this back! Too many people are searching because of closed adoptions. I have a close friend who printed off an application, and until this show started her doors were closed. Please reconsider! Lucinda
Please bring this show back! I am adopted. I found my birth mom and dad back in 1993. I sometimes wish I found my mom now, so we could be on the show together. What an AWESOME SHOW!! I cry everytime I watch it!

Please bring this program back.
Hi, I am currently looking for my adopted daughter and in one of my search registries it asked if you wanted to sign up for the show also so I did. I thought if one more person or in this case a tv show was helping I just might have a better chance or finding her. Now that I see the show is gone or maybe gone its one more setback of sorts. You have no idea the joy you can bring to someone by helping in this way. I just wanted to let you know that and hope you make the right choices, although I know its all based on the dollar, which most of us at least looking will spend a lot of in our search efforts. BTW, My daughter was born Danielle Leanne Axen, March 24, 1987 in Chicago, Il.
please bring this great show back. THIS COULD HELP SO MANY.
Please bring it back. It is a great venue to bring awareness of the importance for adoptees to have some, ANY, sense of who they are. Even if the end result is not always what they hoped for, there is at least some closure. I found my biological mother on my own, and she chose to have no contact, but, it has allowed me to meet other family members.
Please keep the show Find my Family – for those of us adoptees out there it gives us hope that one day that piece of the puzzle will be found.
I hope you bring it back. I have been looking for my dad for almost 30 years and just found this show and know that you could get the job done. ;(. You help sooo many people get together.
