My grandmother left my real grandfather in St.Louis many, many, many years ago and move to Texas. She has now passed and so has my dad (her son). There is only my aunt left(in California) and she’s NEVER known her dad(my grandfather). I would LOVE to find and get to know my family in St. Louis and my aunt would like to know about her dad.

Like your participants I was adopted. I was given up at age 3 months. I literally left my birthmother’s breast and was taken to my new home.
I was 33 when I decided to search, just before the birth of my first son. I didn’t want to leave him without the answers that I missed growing up.

Wonderful show and a great service. My mother is 86 yrs old and was adopted from the Baptist Home in Waco Texas. She recalls overhearing her adopted Mother talking about how Mom’s birth parents wanted her back because when they turned 18, they wed. She undoubtedly has brothers and sisters. My Mother’s adopted family fled with her to Florida, fearing they would lose her. We wrote to the court in Waco and our letter was returned. Texas seals adoption records so we have gotten nowhere. My Mother has always felt disconnected….it would be the greatest gift if I could do this for her while she is still alive. She has done so much for others, in addition to adopting my brother after I was born. Please do not cancel such a great program and possibly you could help my family too. Thanks so much.

Please bring this show back. My brothers and sisters and I have been looking for our birth sister for years. We haven’t seen her since she was six months old, she is 52 now.
I am 58. Thinking Find My Family might be our last chance to find her, I filled out the
exceptionally long application..pour my heart out concerning the details of her private
adoption. I never heard back. Please don’t cancel this show. Please help us find my sister. None of my siblings and I are getting any younger, my older sister turned 60 this year. We pray to God every that we will be reunited with our sister before the rest
of us dies. I have one brother that has made his transition already.

Please have mercy…and bless us with reuniting with our sister….PLEASE!

This show brought tears to my eyes, as well as my 8 & 10 year old granddaughters. I am a social worker, and I have young client’s who were given up at birth or early age, and they are so very lonely. They want to find a family member. Some are from Canada where I live and some of their families are across the world. To sit and talk to them about this, is heartbreaking. I also have parents who gave up their children, but do not know where they are. We have nothing like this show in Canada (wish we did), I would love to do this. Anyway, please bring back this show. Even if some of these people watching cannot find their family members, I am sure they are so very happy so see that the people on the show are reuniting with theirs. Amazing show, pllllllllleasssse bring it back.

I wish I had more positive things to say about ABC, but I don’t. I have written many comments about how they handled pulling the show. It’s almost been a year now since I got the call that changed my life forever. I keep writing in hopes that my half sib is writing comments too and sees my comments. I signed a contract and ABC didn’t have anything in it that holds them accountable if they should pull out before you meet your family. I have since lost a son in a car accident in Feb 2010. I wish I could get to know my half sib. My maiden name is Brewster and I was born on March 28, 1956. My father’s name is Gordon Dale Brewster. We were originally from Lansing, Illinois and moved to Milwaukee, WI when I was 6. I really think that after almost a year, ABC is not going to bring back Find My Family. My heart has been broken twice this year.

Everyone, I am so sorry for those of you who ABC left hanging in the dark. They should not have done that while they still had families waiting and were in the process of finding your loved one. I was adopted at birth, (I’m now almost 43) and thankfully I found my biological family 21 years ago and I had them at my wedding. I was on looking to find Find My Family because I would love to work for them to help try to search for these people and be a small part of helping people be reunited after so many years. It has been such a blessing to know my birth family. I lost my mom almost 3 years ago suddenly and I was hurt at first that I only had her for 18 years, but then I realized I just needed to be grateful for those years because I could have been too late had I waited.

I truly wish all of you the best in your search. The other thing you could try is to go to the judge in the County you were adopted in, write him/her a letter and ask him/her to open your file. That is what I did and it worked. THANK YOU JUDGE FISHER!!!! Erie Co. PA. Good luck everyone!

It’s worth a shot. It gives you enough information that you don’t have to pay for, unless you want to continue for more information. But at least, the majority of names has either age or month/year of birth to help you.

You can also try http://www.ancestry.com and get on the “U.S. Public Records Index” page and see if he/she might show up there. You can access the Ancestry.com site at most local libraries for free as you do need a membership to use the site. While on that site, you might want to look at the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) and hopefully, you won’t find your loved one there.

May God guide you along in this world to find your loved one. Keep your spirits up with knowing that there is so much information out there to help you find them.

Yes everything I said in that comment is true. I grew up as an only child for 54 years, always wanting to have brothers and sisters. My world changed when Find My Family Contacted Me. I was so excited that I was going to meet my half sib. My children were all behind me. Then ABC pulled the plug on the show. I hope you have better luck getting in contact with someone from ABC. I’ve had no luck.

PLEASE this the only way to help my husband find his biological mother since hi was put up for a close adoption in 1965 when he was born…we don’t know any thing about her but we know that she was Canadian born in Toronto , her parents were from England , her dad died in automobile accident when she was 6 years old, she came to Miami Florida to study when she was 18 years old that’s when she got pregnant… She was an attractive woman, with brown hair, big brown eyes and she was 5’1 1/2 inches tall according to records we found in the Jewish community center who provide us all this info… she also liked to play guitar,sing , dance and she also was interested in working with children and hoped to some day mayor in psychology …. we would love to find her please HELP US!! Because you backed out, my half sibling never met my son who was killed in a car accident on Valentine’s Day. If my half sib reads this. Please contact me. BRING IT BACK!!!! My daughter wants to be on this show because she wants to meet her father. We have no idea where he is, but more interesting is he has never met his family either. He was taken off the reservation in Canada when he was born and brought to the US to be put into foster care. He was finally adopted by a family, but he has never been able to find his family. So it would certainly be amazing to see this two sided story unfold. I’m sure there are many families out there who would also love to be reunited with loved ones. This is a great way for them to do so. BRING IT BACK!!!!!

I am in my mid-fifties & am trying to locate my bio-dad who went off to war in 1953. This series brought tears to my eyes & gave me hope that I can find my Dad. I am the middle of 7 children & was told at 40 that I had a different father. PLEASE, PLEASE don’t take this show off the air. In fact, I challenge the investigators to help find my Father. When he came back for my mother and saw me, he knew. Although my mother had remarried my siblings father-MY FATHER saw & met them & also my new-born sister that had been sent home to die due to a medical problem. MY FATHER, with my Mother’s wishes took my baby sister to the Naval AIr Station hospital where he was stationed-the rest is history. My Mother never saw him again. My sister is almost in hr mid-fifties. All I know is if he came back for my Mother, saw that I had a family & still helped my sister survive-he can’t be that bad of a person. I do know he hasn’t died due to military names but that is about ALL I have and apprximate age. PLEASE DON’T LET ME BE TOO LATE TO AT LEAST THANK HIM FOR THE SURVIVAL OF MY BABY SISTER!! KEEP THE SHOW!!

I cannot believe it has already been taken off the air? I submitted a very long and very detailed application to the show for my husband…I was hoping that finally there was someone that could possibly help him find his roots or to see a resemblance maybe in another. To find out important medical information, etc. It’s always been too involved to search on our own or too costly.

Since the consensus is that ABC has truly cancelled the show, I am going to pursue the search for the half sib I have never met. The contract I signed with ABC is null and void. Go ahead and try to sue me for a million dollars. I’m angry. You played with peoples’ emotions. In the face of 31 year old son Jason’s fatal car accident, I need to seek out family. So, ABC go ahead and take me to court. You bailed. I didn’t.

Please bring the show back. This is a show that is needed to help people find their long lost relatives. I am one of the people who sent in an application to find my daughter. The last time I saw her was when she was 2 years old and she in her mid 30′s now. People just cannot afford to hire a lawyer to find a lost family member and this show is a godsin. You have helped so many people and can help even more. This show reminds me of Home Makeover. They help people that have given back to their community in a big way and are deserving of a new home. Your show is so much like that because you (and thank God for you) make it happen for us and are sincerely grateful for everything you and your team have done to bring families back together. I am still waiting for a response in hopes of being one of the chosen to participate in your wonderful show. My daughter and I are at stake. I am almost 65 and I want to find my daughter so very badly. Who knows, I might even have grandchildren (please don’t deny those people who are so desparate to find their loved ones).

More thoughts…over the years, things done by people to other people and justified in the partially hidden standards of a culture have caused large amounts of pain and devastation. A show that looks at the micro-view of the harm of cultural condemnation that creates broken lives can come to heal and hopefully change cultural values or at least improve the end effects for everyone. Find My Family and The Locator makes everyone confront what has gone on and when confronted, the emotional charge and complexities can be released and the shear simplicity of the truth of love can be seen beyond those guilty feelings or issues.

Why not keep the show? “The Locator” on the WE channel seems to be successful in fact, when I saw that “Find my family” was not on the regular network, I saw the ad for the Locator and I started to watch that show and I liked it a lot. Since ‘reality shows’ seem to be the winning factor for the networks, why not a show that helps people to have some kind of closure in these situations where our cultural values caused these tearing apart of families and abandoning of children to be adopted. There must be lots of these things that have occurred all across America over the years. I have a case to be solved and if “Find my family” is not going to be made, I’ll be seeking help from the “Locator” with Troy Dunn.

With all the adoptees in this country,I can’t believe that they are wanting to end a show that has the possibility to help so many people!!!! My vote is KEEP IT….Please
