One of the unfortunate bits of news that came out of this week’s upfronts is that FlashForward has been cancelled after just one season. The TV show’s last episode will air as scheduled next week but, can viewers expect some closure?
The story of FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for a little more than two minutes and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
In an interview with EOnline, actress Sonya Walger recently shared that, while there is some closure in the FlashForward series finale, an awful lot is left open-ended. On the positive side, the show does come full-circle from the pilot.
Walger said, “There’s another flash-forward brewing, but it remains to be seen if it happens or not… The finale is just brilliantly written. It’s so satisfying to watch how everybody ends up — or doesn’t — in the positions that they saw themselves in the pilot. Watching these chess pieces move into position so that everyone is where they saw themselves being is ingenious. And by the end of the penultimate episode, they’ve pushed everyone as far away from their final positions as they could possibly be. It’s a brilliant device.”
Walger’s own character, Olivia, will really shift her focus in the final two episodes. She says, “Olivia’s prime concern becomes Charlie, her little girl, and making sure that she’s OK. That becomes her guiding star, not if Mark (Joseph Fiennes) is all right or am I going to hook up with Lloyd (Jack Davenport). In pursuing that goal, all of these other things fall into place.”
What do you think? Do you think that you’ll still enjoy the ending of the series, even though all of the questions haven’t been answered?

This is one of the most amazing shows I have EVER watched and I have been a loyal fan from day one! The only show in history I can compare it to with such brilliant and elegant character writing is Lost. The season finale was one of the BEST I have ever seen on a TV show and I so want more!!! PLEASE ABC RECONSIDER AND BRING BACK FLASH FORWARD!
Just now found out Fast Forward is canceled!
I would expect this from NBC, But I thought ABC would do better for its good shows… To often it seems shows that take more of a brain to watch, ponder and consider, are dropped in favor of more mundane, sophomoric shows that rarely fire a synaptic nerve impulse… Way to go ABC, do try to keep up with the “Wizards” at NBC!
God forbid you to keep any thought provoking shows…!
Please keep feeding us pablum and mindless dribble!
Brandy
Today is one month from when the Last FlashFoward happen. As I watched the ending I saw a year I even slowed my DVR to see if I saw it and I did . 2014 Do I have to wait until then to see the next season? I don’t think so. I remeber that in the show the Future can be changed. But in the end we all must take our spot because we are all part of the solution. I hope that some other network will pick it up for a second season with all the same cast. If not that then lets make the Show avaible online only for season 2. I would Gladly pay the price to see these peoples future.
Flashforward is GREAT, ABC’s decision is NOT. ‘Nuff’ said.
They can’t cancel Flash Forward! It is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Incredible suspense and I was on the edge of my seat during so many episodes, especially after they picked up the pace after the “break”. The finale cliffhanger was better than any I’ve ever seen. Shows like this are rare and stories like this deserve to be followed through.
THis is one of the only great series on ABC. Seems only logical that they would cancel their one great show. I guess we need to stick with CBS.
Would love to see another season. The finale was great. I’ll keep hoping you will rethink your decision and don’t cancel this show.
If this is the swan song of Flash Forward I hope enough people boycott ABC and they lose all the major sponsors they have. How can the most innovative show ever be cancelled after just one season. Shame on ABC-”Another Bullshit Corporation” with no idea of what most people can do when need be.
ABC must be absolutely teaming with dumbasses. They don’t know how to market their really good shows. Last year they dumped Life on Mars, now it’s Flash Forward. T%he ability to discern quality television alludes these morons.
PLEASE do not take away a great story like this…take the risk and bring back for a season two..i know the viewers will be there!
Shame on you narrow-minded network execs! This was the best show ever, how could you! Shame on you!
THIS IS BS ! THEY SHOULDNT HAVE CANCELLED THE SHOW !
We need a smart network to pick up Flash Forward beginning with Season 2. The networks are in it to make money, this seems like a no brainer!! Come on NBC, CBS or maybe USA, TNT, A&E or BRAVO. ABC is not interested in intelligent television!
Yes, ABC by all means keep some of your mundane, dumb – but popular shows renewed for next season. You stayed with Lost. Now stay with Flash Forward, which is unique, well-acted and inovative. This is a thought provoking show – not merely “eye candy” for adults – like “Dancing with the Stars.” You also did the same to another inovative show – “Defying Gravity.” Thanks for nothing.
I want a season two as well…
I love the shows and I hardly watch any TV. We don’t fall in love with the characters but we fall in love with the story. Please please please bring season 2 and do not cancel
