FlashForward: Does the Cancelled Show’s Last Episode Give Answers?

FlashForward canceledOne of the unfortunate bits of news that came out of this week’s upfronts is that FlashForward has been cancelled after just one season. The TV show’s last episode will air as scheduled next week but, can viewers expect some closure?

The story of FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for a little more than two minutes and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.

In an interview with EOnline, actress Sonya Walger recently shared that, while there is some closure in the FlashForward series finale, an awful lot is left open-ended. On the positive side, the show does come full-circle from the pilot.

Walger said, “There’s another flash-forward brewing, but it remains to be seen if it happens or not… The finale is just brilliantly written. It’s so satisfying to watch how everybody ends up — or doesn’t — in the positions that they saw themselves in the pilot. Watching these chess pieces move into position so that everyone is where they saw themselves being is ingenious. And by the end of the penultimate episode, they’ve pushed everyone as far away from their final positions as they could possibly be. It’s a brilliant device.”

Walger’s own character, Olivia, will really shift her focus in the final two episodes. She says, “Olivia’s prime concern becomes Charlie, her little girl, and making sure that she’s OK. That becomes her guiding star, not if Mark (Joseph Fiennes) is all right or am I going to hook up with Lloyd (Jack Davenport). In pursuing that goal, all of these other things fall into place.”

What do you think? Do you think that you’ll still enjoy the ending of the series, even though all of the questions haven’t been answered?

I think Flash Forward is an excellant show. It has more direction than Lost did and Lost went on and on until “I” was so Lost I stopped watching it. I think viewers thought Flash Forward was going to be another Lost, I know I did. I didn’t watch it when it was on, I bought the first season and I love it. I’m so sorry I didn’t watch it when it was on. I really wish they would bring the show back. It is much better than most of the show’s that are out there now.

B R I N G I T B A C K. networks need to start taking into account online views… I thought we were in more modern times where the internet brings the world closer. So why not count it in its rating system. Who ever is in charge of this “rating” system should be beat….. online….

I have been waiting for this show to return and am so disappointed that it was cancelled. Somehow I missed the news back in the fall. I think I was waiting for it to air this spring. Oh well. I agree it would have been nice to have a 2 hour finale that gave all the answers. Maybe ABC will make a special episode for summer 2011. And as far as ratings, it is hard to keep track of favorite shows when they are always bumped. Reminds me of Alias which wad my all time face.

What’s next. Publishing books with the last few chapters omitted just in case not enough people buy it. There is no justification to running a whole season of a show and not having a real final show that gives all the answers.

I never missed a single episode of FlashForward, V, Lost or 24. And have not watched a single episode on television in three years. 100% Internet viewer. So, I guess for ABC and FlashForward, V and Lost I and all my cohort are big ZERO. We who know how to use the new media just do not count.

Serious question ABC: You put the episodes on the net. Do you then include net viewers and net advertising revenue in your decisions?

I’m so disapointed to hear that Flasforward was cancelled. My daughter would watch it together and couldn’t wait till the next week. I could make some suggestions on other programs that should be cancelled but not this one!

Yes, i will still enjoy the ending series. All the questions have not really been answered yet. I need to see it. I don’t know how to react becasue I am so so upset that FLASHFORWARD is not coming back in the Fall of 2010. I was looking forward to it so much, but haven’t heard a word about it on the TV. I just goggled it and found out the bad news.
I am just devastated. I can’t believe the network would do that to such a great series.

Many people watch it online so the ratings drop. And who do they ask? Not me or
any of my family. (43 people.) The Nielson selected family? Waiting for Barney Miller er to come back?

Flashforward was a darn good series!

I am devastated. Flash forward was one of my favorite shows, it kept me on the edge of my seat and asking for more. Not having an ending will drive me crazy. Please bring it back.

The show was wonderful. I did not know that it was cancelled since it stated, “season finale”, not series finale! What a bummer! First Ugly Betty, then this. What’s up with that? Horrible, just horrible.

FLASH FORWARD — COME ONE ABC, ONE MORE, then decide. WE LOVE IT. V and others are not as interesting.

ONE MORE ……????????
