The ABC TV show about what happens in the future apparently doesn’t have one. FlashForward has been cancelled after one season.
FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
The series debuted in September and attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 12.47 million viewers. With a lot of buzz, it seemed like ABC had a hit. For week two, the ratings dropped to a still very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.
But then viewership just kept falling, hitting a low of a 2.1 in the key demo and just 7.1 million viewers. Then, ABC pulled the series for three months. The spin was that they would relaunch FlashForward after the Olympics.
The network gave the return a significant amount of promotion but it didn’t help. FlashForward’s ratings were even worse and they just kept dropping. They’ve gotten so bad that The CW has been beating them in the demo.
To no surprise, ABC has cancelled FlashForward after one season of 20 episodes. The series finale will air in two weeks, on May 27th.
What do you think? Did FlashForward deserve a second season? Could ABC have saved it? If given the chance, how would you wrap it up?

I m watching this tv show from Turkey and there are millions of fans in Turkey as well however lack of advertisement like LOST… To be honest Flashforward can compete with LOST with its wonderful scenario and Flash Forward does deserve a second season for sure… There is a mistake of ABC channel on this rating decrease it is not a good idea to give a break for 3 months with an excuse of olympics. We want second season back…!!!
Just like “Dirty, Sexy Money & Life on Mars… Flash Forward meets the same demise. I wonder why I always like the shows the network cancels after one season. Only so many stars can dance for ratings, sometimes acting with a unique storyline can me entertaining too ! On to FX and Sons of Anarchy at least their dramas return season after season
Yet ANOTHER show has been canceled that leaves us hanging as far as the story line goes. Total lack of consideration for the viewer! Thanks for nothing!
This blows, I was waiting for the show to come back this fall. ABC had a good show, sometimes you have to lose a little to gain. Really bums me out.
This was a TERRIBLE show, almost as bad as Lost
No wonder ABC has the lowest rankings. They cancel great shows instead of trying to promote them. Flash Forward was an extremely captivating show that my girlfriend (who does not watch much TV) and I look forward to every week.
Hopefully another network will pick up this show. I do not understand how the ratings dropped as the show went on. The end of every episode was a cliff hanger.
Guess I will keep watching CBS and FOX since they are making the best shows.
As ABC is not considering a second season, they would/should have to present a decent final episody. Here in Brazil, series is a very good show and is too sad not watch it every Tuesday.
Flash Forward deserves a ‘final episode’. give us, the loyal views, some closure. PLEASE?
i really hope this show gets a second season,
like Ginny said, in holland it is also getting really popular.
this show deserves a second season.
“I regret to actually stop the serial\nI loved him very\nAnd I hope to continue the series because it is actually pretty cool\nI have recommended a lot of watching Addakkaii\nPlease completed the series in Toukvoh”
I beleive they should give the show a chance, because I work very long hours I purchased the DVD season one part one. I want to purchase season one part two but it appears that if I want to see the complete season I will have to puschase season one again which is not fair. But I did enjoy season one part one and I will have to wait till the end of August to find out what happened. They should give the show a chance to survive, it realy had me hooked sorry to see it go!!!!!
I think they should do a second season it is a wonderfull show and in holland already really populair! Please make a second season.
I loved this show it is such a shame that it’s cancelled i hope that ABC is still considering a second season and i think a lot of people hope that with me!
It was a good show, shame that it was cancelled. However, if you look at the calibre of its acting cast its plain to see that it must have cost a fortunate to produce, hence, relatively low advertising figures wouldn’t bring in the revenue required.
I e-mailed a guy at Starz public Relations and asked him and he said in the e-mail, “We’ve gotten lots of queries about this show, but I’m unaware of any discussions. As far as I know there’s nothing to report.” Those were his words. I have seen only a few blogs online about it and I even went to starz website and looked and I found nothing. So maybe they are and maybe they aren’t. We will just have to wait and see. I would love to see it on starz, but I am gonna wait and see what happens and not get excited and jump the gun yet.
