FlashForward: ABC TV Show Cancelled, No Season Two

FlashForwardThe ABC TV show about what happens in the future apparently doesn’t have one. FlashForward has been cancelled after one season.

FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.

The series debuted in September and attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 12.47 million viewers. With a lot of buzz, it seemed like ABC had a hit. For week two, the ratings dropped to a still very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.

But then viewership just kept falling, hitting a low of a 2.1 in the key demo and just 7.1 million viewers. Then, ABC pulled the series for three months. The spin was that they would relaunch FlashForward after the Olympics.

The network gave the return a significant amount of promotion but it didn’t help. FlashForward’s ratings were even worse and they just kept dropping. They’ve gotten so bad that The CW has been beating them in the demo.

To no surprise, ABC has cancelled FlashForward after one season of 20 episodes. The series finale will air in two weeks, on May 27th.

What do you think? Did FlashForward deserve a second season? Could ABC have saved it? If given the chance, how would you wrap it up?

American TV companies do not care about the viewers!!!
NBC shut down HEROES, the show that I think deserved having a really finished story!!
And now, ABC cancelles Flash Forward.

I loved Flash Forward and the ridiculously long break is what killed the show not ratings.

It’s a shame Flash Forward is not coming back! I really liked the show and I didn’t miss any episode. I think it was a bad desicion to cancel it. ABC is making a big mistake, specially when they keep a remake on the air and not this show that was and still is promising

Shame on you ABC for making such a bad mistake…I usually get home from work and don’t make it to see the show on TV… and streaming online is my best bet.. They obviously don’t count the internet ratings… I know a lot of internet viewers out there who absolutely adore and love the show…

They finally come up with a good show and they cancel it. What is ABC’s problem. Then they leave stupid shows on like “V”. We never did find out what happened and what the kangaroo had to do with it. ABC has been doing alot of this stuff. Maybe we should quit watching ABC….

I’m from Poland and I’m disappointed that ABC removed Flash Forward… Today I finished watching season 1 and I’m really sad, because this serial was so great as Lost and I want to see more. SHAME ON ABC!!!

We just found out that Flashforward is cancelled. I would love to start a petition of fans of the show to get it back. There are so many bad shows on and they cancel the good ones. We will never know what was planned and what kind of creative story lines could have been seen. It is so unfair to the dedicated viewers to never get closure. I know I will never watch anymore new abc shows for fear of the same disappointment!

I’ve been hearing all over the place that most people watched it online and that’s the case for me too. What doesn’t make sense to me is that abc put full episodes on their website but it doesn’t seem like they counted the times they were watched as viewings. If they did I’m sure it wouldn’t have been cancled. When are people going to wake up and realize that technology is changing the way we do things? Many of us only have time to watch our favorite tv shows online! It should be accounted for!

Why would anyone watch a cable or network scifi/mystery when the networks contantly pull the plug and leave their viewers hanging time after time. These networks need to at least wrap up a cancelled show if they expect viewers to continue to invest time in these shows. Heros, 4400, Invasion, Point Pleasant, etc etc all cancelled without regard for its existing audience.

These shows get cancelled way too soon also. Someone needs to remind the networks that Cheers was 74th out of 74 shows in its first year.

Unbelievable they cancel another one of my favorites. My friend and I watched it every week, then when I would pick her up from work on Fridays. it was always our topic on our drive home. Was looking forward to the next season. This makes me sad.
