Flashpoint: Ending; No Season Six for ION TV Series

Flashpoint endingThe producers of Flashpoint have announced the end of their beloved cop series after 75 episodes and five seasons.

Created by Stephanie Morgenstern and Mark Ellis in 2007 for CTV in Canada. CBS came on board as a production partner in 2008 and Flashpoint ran for three seasons as a successful utility player for the network. CBS made a deal to take on some of the episodes from the fourth season and then ION made a deal to take on the rest, as part of a syndication package.

CTV renewed Flashpoint for a fifth season and, in January, ION followed suit. Production began in February and will supposedly wrap in June. We don’t know when they’ll air but we do know that those will be the TV show’s final episodes.

In a message to fans on Facebook, the producers wrote:

To the Flashpoint Family:

Today we announced to our cast and crew that this will be our final season of FLASHPOINT. While still at our creative apex, we’ve decided to conclude the series on a high note. This will allow us to give our fans the satisfaction of a fitting series conclusion with our 75th, and final, episode. Producing FLASHPOINT over the past five seasons has been an exceptional adventure, and we are extremely grateful to all of you for being with us every step of the way. We hope that by announcing this now, you’ll be able to enjoy the fifth season to the utmost, and properly say goodbye to Team 1 along with all of us.

In response to numerous messages to fans, the producers later wrote, “Thanks to all the fans for your support! It wouldn’t have been the same without you. We promise to deliver a memorable final chapter.”

What do you think? Are you going to miss Flashpoint? How would you like to see this TV show end?

I believe that now we can record shows, the rating are misleading. This is terrible and this is why shows are being cancelled. Not because people are not watching but because there are so many good ones like Flashpoint that we have to record. Reconsider and maybe we can have a different way of viewing the ratings so shows like this can stop ending on “high notes.”. COME ON!!!!!

My husband and I love watching Flashpoint, it is one of the few shows my husband takes time to watch. I am sorry to see it go, I wish they would reconsider. Isn’t there anything that can be done to change the plan to have season 5 the end of the line?

You get a good show on TV and you first put it on late night early morning. That’s not right.then you bitch because you don’t have the viewers to watch got a hell of a show let it keep going on ion television. And take some of the other stuff. Off

How can you cancel this series, it is one of the best police shows out there. There was never an episode that was boring, every episode had you glued to the TV. SO DEPRESSING

I totally agree. I LOVE this show. Right now I’m having to watch reruns on ION.

It’s the best show on television! It can’t end! :-(

It’s gotten to the point that we can certainly count on being disappointed with constant cancellations of shows we’ve come to love. Flashpoint works; the cast meshes very well together and the episodes capture our attention for the entire hour with us wanting more. High note? Nonsense! Something else promises to make more money for you. Do you really care what the fans want? And we really need another food show or silly comedy; NOT to both :-(

Sure wish the Flashpoint series wasn’t cancelled. This is a really good show with wonderful acting on the part of every actor featured. Why end a winner??????

What’s the REAL reason on ending a GREAT show with a GREAT Cast on a high note? This is one of very few high quality shows that actually captures my full attention for each entire episode! Is it the cast wanting to leave, or the producers, writers, network execs getting tired of it?? Much of the rest of TV today is full of rediculous Waste of Time REALITY shows!!! PLEASE BRING BACK …..FLASHPOINT AND IT’S PHENOMINAL CAST!!!!!!!!

OMG…..Can’t believe you are going to cancel such a great show!!! I hope there is still a chance to being renewed for another season. Great TV shows are hard to find!!!

I love this show. They need to bring it back.

Cancelling this program really stinks. You finally have a show worth watching, and you cancel it? Why? Some viewers appreciate a good show . If you think all viewers want a reality show, you’re wrong. Some of those reality shows is way too stupid and not worth watching. Really dumb!
