Flipped Off: A&E Series Now Premiering April 28th

Flipping OffLast month, A&E announced that Flipped Off, their new reality series starring Survivor’s Russell Hantz, would premiere at 9pm on April 28th. They’ve now shifted it to 10pm.

Here’s the press release from the cable channel:

New York, NY – April 18, 2012 – A&E real life series “Flipped Off,” featuring Russell Hantz of “Survivor” as he enters the high-stakes world of house-flipping in the volatile Houston real-estate market, will now premiere on Saturday, April 28 at 10 PM ET/PT.

Flipping homes has never been an easy business, and since the collapse of the housing market it’s never been more dangerous. Time is the new enemy as flippers race to rehabilitate properties before renovation costs climb too high and market prices fall too low. This is the type of risk that attracts Russell Hantz, the Master Manipulator from three seasons of “Survivor,” where bold moves can make or break you, and the dollar bill is the bottom line.

Throwing down cold hard cash on a house that you just viewed takes brains, intuition and a whole lot of guts. However, Hantz isn’t working alone. Determined to be one of the biggest house flippers in Houston, he’s bringing along his big brother, Shawn, as his project manager as well as the beautiful and savvy real estate agent, Kristen. The brothers butt heads more than a pair of rams in a staring contest but giving them some semblance of balance is Kristen, who isn’t afraid to slap some sense into the Hantz brothers when their egos get in the way of making money.

Russel Hantz shows what a gorilla would act like without a brain. The show is horrible and it shows what a classless goof Russel is.

While I enjoyed Russell on Survivor as he cleverly manipulated the other contestants, he is grotestque and neither funny nor clever in “Flipped Off”. I was very disappointed and whether it’s a “schtick” or real, his constant belittling of his brother, who seems a hapless sort, (he must need the money to take the abuse from Russell) seems all too real and after one or two episodes watching Russell yell and “be himself” is a smashing bore. Neither really knows what they are doing and after two episodes, I lost interest. I see it was not on last night and I don’t see it scheduled later….I’m guessing the reviews were in the toilet. If so, the show is where it belongs….in the pooper. Goodbye, Russell!
