TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Amazing original show with its heart in the right place, a joy to watch. Gutted its cancelled not just for the fans, the cast too. You shall be missed, can’t think why the decision was made! Idiots. Ioan so sorry, thank you and everyone for giving a great show – Henry’s humanity, the chemistry and relationship between the characters was perfect. What a finale, thank you.
So sad. This was a delight to watch, great script and acting. I shall just let my imagination continue the story.
Maybe they can do a 2-hour special around Christmas time…
My husband and I seldom agree on the same TV shows. Forever had both of us looking forward to watching each week. I’m not sure if the time slot worked against the show because it couldn’t have been the actual show because it was so engaging. ABC got it wrong this time.
The show must go on, I love forever and the casting is just fab.
Are you kidding me ? this was a GREAT SHOW, who decides what stays and what goes? we watched every episode and couldn’t wait for season two. and now its cancelled… I cant believe the crap they allow to be renewed…FOREVER had a great cast and it was a very unique show …. It would have had a better chance if you put it on at 8 or 9 instead of 10…. .
Finally A show comes along that makes people think, About life and death. Henry is immortal, but everyone that is a part of his life is not, so does he marry again and endure the pain of losing his wife? His son will grow old and die, how will that effect him, should he ever have more? Same with friends he has, and will make and lose them, how long can a man deal with that? Also he is living history, all his knowledge, experiences, and emotional perceptions of events, he is more valuable than any encyclopedia. This show has… Read more »
YES! Please bring back FOREVER! My new favorites were Madame Secretary and Forever. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Forever, which was unique, yet not quirky. I loved the history lessons, too! Scorpion is being renewed on another channel, but not Forever. Something is wrong with NBC. You’ve done this more than once.
Bring Back Forever. Contains the thought provoking aspects of a mystery with a bit of a twist, immortality. Refreshing and interesting. Good character and relationship development. Far superior to many of the unreal reality shows that are overly dramatic and portray negative behaviors as if they are something for which to aspire…truly brainless.
I see many comments here bemoaning the cancellation of this excellent show. If you really do care about it, go to abc.com and leave them feedback. No one from ABC is going to see these here.
I love Forever ! From the acting, writing, and all-around very entertaining. I have been tweeting ABC with #renewforever . We need another season.

Absolutely BRING IT BACK
Our entire family loves the show. Great stories and great idea. Please do not cancel.
My wife and I just love this show and watched it every week. I am shocked that it was cancelled. Please if there is any chance at all BRING IT BACK
I can’t believe this show is canceled. It was my favorite show on TV this past year. I loved the casting and story line. The story was always interesting how they’d add snippets of Henry’s past and intertwine it with the present. Loved the actors and the story. I’m so sad to learn it’s been canceled. So much could have been done with this show to make it last for so many more seasons. There were so many areas left unexplored.
Bring the show back it was one of the only interesting showson
Renew!! I love the show. I want to know Jo’s reaction when Henry tells her the truth. It’ such a refreshing and different show. TV Execs always get it wrong! Where do they get their information? You can’t dominate a time slot when consumers have over 500 channels to pick from. Give the show a real chance..RENEW it!!!
