Friday Night Lights: Petition for Season Six of the TV Show

Friday Night Lights petitionFriday Night Lights has been renewed through season five but it looks like that will be the end. NBC and DirecTV haven’t made an announcement that the show’s officially cancelled but, according to many in the cast and crew, there won’t be a sixth season.

What can you do? Remember, the ideal scenario for DirecTV and NBC is for many millions of people to watch the show on their television sets, while it’s being broadcast. Unfortunately, ratings are put together based on a sampling of viewers. If you’re a “Nielsen household,” your viewing is being counted. If not, it’s not.

However, if you like Friday Night Lights and want to see it continue, there are a few things you can do to help.

  1. If you’re a Nielsen family, watch the show whenever it’s on. If not, watch it on NBC.com or purchase episodes online so your viewing will be directly counted. Encourage others to watch the show. You might know a Nielsen family and not be aware of it.
  1. Talk about the show with others; at school, at work, online, or wherever. Creating a buzz about a show that you’re invested in gets other people interested and might help bring former viewers back.
  1. Sign the petition below and encourage others to do the same.
  1. Purchase official series DVDs from Amazon or another retailer.
  1. Write to the network. Be respectful. Everyone responds better to courtesy. Tell them how much you enjoy the show, that you’ve signed the petition, and that you want to see it continue. You can use this form or, even better, write via snail-mail to: Mr. Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC, 3000 W. Alameda, Burbank, CA 91523, RE: Friday Night LIghts
  1. Take note of the products that are advertised during the show. Write the advertisers and tell them that you appreciate their sponsoring the show and that you buy their products (if you do).

Please find a way to keep Friday Night Lights on the air. We are devoted viewers who will continue to watch the program, encourage others to do the same, and will support the series’ advertisers as well. Please keep it going, either on NBC and DirecTV or, if necessary, on another NBC-related channel.

    This show means alot to me. I started watching it on netflix after seeing youtube football speeches. So, I decided to try it out.That turned into five seasons done and not missing an episode. I miss you Friday Night Lights please comeback!

    This show is truly an inspiration. Just Finished season five. Started watching this after my cousin passed away and my high school football career ended. This show made me realize there's so much to Perdue and life and responsibility. I've now got back into football and signe with a semi pro team and got myself into college. Nothing is given too you in life, it all comes from hard work and sacrifice. Please bring a season 6.

    Please please bring the show back... Friday night lights has inspired me during my football day I would stay up till 4am just watch the show when I had school the next day.... It's by far my favorite show and I would love to see another season, please bring it back!!!!!

    I went to A&M Consolidated, which was depicted in the show as Arnet Mead - Dillon's main rival. My first ever varsity football game was versus Pflugerville HS - same uniforms as Dillon West. We heard that Peter Berg was in the stands filming game footage to form a show. I was in disbelief years later when I saw the footage from that game. I now live in Austin and many portions of this show feel so very real to me. It brings me back to the good - and bad - memories of being a high school football player in Texas. Please, we are begging! Thank you!

    Friday night lights is one of the best shows I've watched, I watched every single episode and I feel like I'm in the tv show or I know the people it's a great show and I'm probably going to watch all 5 seasons again and again and again, need a season 6!

    Friday Night Lights is a truly amazing show. Dramatic, touching and powerful. I've enjoyed watching it with my entire family and love how inspirational it is to my son who plays football. I've bought every season...and will watch and buy the 6th and any others that are produced. Please bring it back....shows of this caliber are few and far between.

    Istarted watching this show and immediately fell in love with it. It is a combination of drama, action, and even comedy. It can't just end the way it did. There must be more. I know many of my friends and I would watch it every week anticipating the next. Thank you for your time

    This show touched millions. And it was canceled due to a rating system that doesn't take every household into consideration. So lets be honest here. The entire country wants this show back on television; the actors themselves want this show back on television. So why can't we just give this show back to the people and put money concerns and rating concerns aside.

    I Love friday night Lights! It is the only show I watch. I have watched every episode except for one, which is the last one. i dont want to watch it because I dont want the show to end but I want to watch it because I want to see what happens next. i just wish there could be a season six!!!!     The highlight of highschool football season was Friday Night Lights. I felt connected t the characters as if it were close to home. I was anticipating the next season in the northern territory. That show created an emotion inside me every week. Please keep it going...

    Please bring back Friday Night Lights! It was the best show ever made and I continue to watch it all the time. I have been getting my friends into the series and they realized how great of a show it truly is.
