Friday, October 5, 2012 ratings — Last night we had a mix of originals and repeats. Shark Tank, Grimm, Made in Jersey, Fringe, America’s Next Top Model, CSI: NY, Blue Bloods, Dateline, 20/20, and Primetime: What Would You Do? were all new. Mixed in were repeats of The X Factor, Hart of Dixie, and The Voice.
On ABC, Shark Tank won the night with the highest demo — a 1.7 rating (+13% week-to-week) and 6.02 million total viewers. At 9pm, it was followed by Primetime with a 1.4 rating (-6% change) and 4.55 million. The night finished with 20/20 and a 1.2 demo (-8%) and 4.15 million viewers.
On CBS, it was bad news for the network’s new and old shows. CSI: NY, whose season premiere was way down from last year, fell another 8% in the demo to a 1.2 rating and 8.37 million.
At 9pm, the second episode of Made in Jersey aired with a terrible 0.8 rating and 6.77 million. That was down by 27% from last week’s poor start. Blue Bloods followed with a 1.2 rating (-20%) and 9.59 million viewers. Another big drop year-to-year.
On NBC, a rerun of The Voice aired at 8pm (0.9 rating with 3.13 million) and was followed by Grimm. The latter garnered a 1.6 rating (0% week-to-week change) and 5.19 million viewers. At 10pm, Dateline drew a 1.3 rating (0% change) and 4.55 million.
On FOX, an encore of The X Factor brought a 1.0 rating with 3.05 million. It was followed by a new installment of Fringe with a 1.0 demo rating (-9% change) with 3.03 million.
And on The CW, America’s Next Top Model: College Edition started the night with a 0.5 demo rating (0% change) and 1.11 million viewers. An encore of Hart of Dixie followed with a 0.2 rating and 0.66 million.
What do you think? Are you surprised by the big declines at CBS? How about Fringe? Do you think Shark Tank will continue to grow? What were you watching last night?

I’m a sci-fi girl, so my favorites in this line-up are Grimm and Fringe.
I am just glad the Fringe and Grimm have new seasons.
Jeez! Only the 2nd week into the season and already networks are considering cancelling shows? How are new shows suppose to build a fan base if they’re not given a chance?
Fringe’s ratings don’t matter. It’s the last season and, as someone who’s been watching it from day 1, it’s also its best season ever. I’m very, very happy with Fringe. More people should catch it from the beginning and be amazed at a spooky, awesomely acted sci-fi show.
Maybe they should of put Made in Jersey on at 8 and left CSI NY on at 9…then they and Blue Bloods might of fared better. But, 8 or 9, I am a faithful viewer of CSI NY and will be till the end. Besides, the fact it’s on Friday and face it…young people have social lives that don’t evolve around the television.
