Ghost Whisperer: Is Tonight’s the Last Episode? Maybe Not…

Ghost Whisperer canceledIt was a little bit of a surprise that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled by CBS earlier this week. While the show’s ratings have dropped significantly this season, many reported that the TV show was on track for season six. Well, CBS may have cancelled it but the TV show could still continue on ABC.

Ghost Whisperer follows Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a young woman who has the ability to see, talk to, and help the dead. Series regulars have included David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr, Aisha Tyler, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, and Kenneth Mitchell.

With the current ratings, Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t ordinarily be of interest to ABC. However, the network co-owns the show with CBS and actually handles the production in-house. They actually developed the series before CBS picked it up back in 2005. If the price is right, ABC would stand to make more money from season six episodes once they hit syndication.

According to Deadline, negotiations for Ghost Whisperer possibly moving to ABC started on Tuesday afternoon and are still in motion. Word is that they are going well though there are a number of points to work out.

It’s positive that the showrunner for next season is already in place and producers have signed on. That means that the show is ready to go back into production. The Ghost Whisperer writing staff have all been asked not to take other jobs until a final decision is made.

For now, people are being cautiously optimistic. Deals like this have fallen apart at the last minute before but things are reportedly looking good. We’ll obviously keep you posted.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEE BRING GHOST WHISPERER BACK FOR A 6TH SEASON. i’m sure ratings will go back up once you bring it back. I can’t stand not having it on tv. and she should have another baby…nice idea

I’m confused about the whole Jim/Sam story. I know Melinda and close friends know about that situation but on one of the episodes someone in the hospital staff calls him Jim. So did he change his name or something? And if he did wouldn’t all of their old friends think that’s a little strange?

i have been waiting for the show to return, wondering where the heck it was. checking all the chanels to see if you dumbies had moved it. then i find out you cancelled the show. bad move on your part. friday is a busy day for a great deal of people, but like me! when there was no way to watch it live, the loyal viewers recorded and watched it as soon as they possibly could. please get it back asap, like yesterday.bad, bad, bad, to take it off in the first place. “THANKS”

I really loved this show. Very enertaining and to have a great actress like Jennifer Love H. on a show, they should at least make a TV movie to finalize everything.

Freaking Incredible! CBS could not have less of an idea of what their now non-watchers appreciate as real entertainment! We don’t care what you produce from this point on….we will b0ycot you and your advertisers. Lets see how those bean-counters who advertised on your channel feel……SURPRISE!!!

I love the show and although I was sad the real jim was removed from the cast I sttill want it to continue to air.

I love this show. Who’s up to boycotting all the stations until they bring Ghost Whisperer back…well not me really lol, but i really love this show, and i WILL boycott CBS until they bring it back.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
