Ghost Whisperer: Staying Cancelled, No Season Six on ABC

Ghost WhispererA staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.

Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.

Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.

We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”

While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

What do you think? Sad to see it go? How would you have ended Melinda’s story?

The show was doing soo great, I dont understand why the ratings dropped. In my honest opinion is not fair for the viewers to end it up on the last episode of season 5, when nothing is really solved. I also do not think that the quality of the episodes decreased on the last season, it was fun to watch and kept us entertained. I will miss Jennifer Love but I know she is great, we will be able to see her involved with other projects. So bad they had to cut this show, due to lame reality tv that now is making more money, because more people like to watch all the despicable things humans are capable of doing in front of camera.
SAD:(

The story writers for Ghost Whisperer are responsible for the ratings dropping for this show . The person that replaced the initial professor on the show was a dud. Adding the little boy to the series…..did anyone even see him as a baby? Jim going from a rescue worker to a doctor???????? After that even I, a loyal fan, started to lose interest. I would love to see Jennifer Love Hewett back. I just don’t understand why these writers have to meddle with the story lines.

If they dont bring back Ghost Whisperer for a 6th season I will probably stop watching all TV, that means no more shuving adverts down my throat, thats money lost in your mind right? thats what motivates TV execs right? think of all the people that will also stop watching your other shows because the only show that could make people laugh, cry and overall feel good was the Ghost Whisperer.

Now were left with bad reality shows and 16 cop dramas. I wish I had the money to produce an internet show with the cast and produce a 6th season as an online series.

This was a fantastic show! I can’t believe that is has been dropped. Something that is actually good for a “family” to watch together. Not much else on TV to watch now that this has been cancelled. I’m very very disappointed in these networks. At least there could be a wrap up show.

For a network to cancel a successful series show with no closure is a great disappointment. I had not even been aware that the show had been cancelled until my mother had come for a visit and expressed her disbelief. I had been waiting for a new season to begin. Between this and what happened with Jay Leno and Conan O’Brian I have a growing dislike for network TV. If this is the way of TV now maybe I’ll just stick with movies that I’m sure to get a beginning and an ENDING!!!!

i cannot believe they cancelled this show it makes me furious i grown attached to the cas of this show i watched every episode of every season even more than once. And now seeing that there not even bothering to pick it back up makes me unbelievably mad. Im trying so hard not to curse up a storm right now, but im trying to keep a sense of civility. This show was a must have, a show that should turned into something that stays on forever so that when i have my own children watching t.v. i could say “i remembering being little and watching this.” Producers of Ghost Whisperer should pick ghost whisperer back up and air season six and kepp making seasons.

I enjoyed Ghost Whisperer a great deal. With James Van Pragh giving technical direction and giving credibility to the show. I couldn’t wait for Friday night to come. I admit the last season was puzzling to me, but I knew it would be explained, but now no future shows. I could name other shows that were not cancelled that deserve it.
And you kept “Medium” ??????? because it’s theme was toward catching bad guys. I am totally upset.

I am not happy at all about the cancellation of Ghost Whisperer! I was wondering if there is something the viewers and fans can do to get maybe a final season to air (same cast and everything) to at least get un-answered questions… well answered. I feel that CBS was a bit strange, rude? (several other words for it, dont worry they are PG) for just plucking Ghost Whisperer out of there without a real ending. The viewers deserve a real ending to an amazing series. Does anyone know the real reason for taking it off the air? Because I am sure there were enough viewers!

I really hope there is something we can do to at least get some of the questions answered from the series. You know shinies, shadows and destinies have to be finally fully explained! Please I would at least like a real ending! Who agrees with me?

Why is it that CBS always cancels the good shows and leave the bad ones. It was the pits that every time a special sports event came out they sacrificed Ghost Whisper, thats what happens when sport take on a reality bigger than life itself and it stinks. This was a awesome show and the only good thing I felt that CBS had going for themselves. I don’t even waste any more time on the station to me it all stinks. Myself as one of many viewers I am sure wished that ABC would step up and take CBS on but of course they fell back behind the line of submissive behavior, that is why I feel they will never be in the front. I wish as fan we could cancel CBS.
