Gilmore Girls and Sherlock? The two have more in common than just their whip-smart leads. Radio Times reports Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was inspired by the BBC detective series for her show’s upcoming Netflix revival.
The first photos from the new Gilmore Girls episodes were released last week.
In the interview, Sherman-Palladino said she’s a massive Sherlock fan:
I’m massively into Sherlock. And what I love about Sherlock is the format is longer than an hour. They’re their own mini-movies. It felt like a format that would work well for us on a storytelling level.”
The four new Gilmore Girls episodes will be 90 minutes long, each themed around a season (winter, spring, summer, and fall).
Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) added:
We were having lunch. And that was where she really laid out what her thought was about it. Talking about the model of Sherlock as both the amount of time and also the way they do specials.”
Does this mean, like Sherlock, Gilmore Girls might come back periodically for new episodes? Series producer Daniel Palladino recently said they’re open to more seasons of the mother-daughter dramedy.
What do you think? Are you a fan of either Gilmore Girls or Sherlock? Are you excited for the new seasons of both series?
