Good Vibes: MTV Series Cancelled, No Season Two

good vibes canceled no season twoMTV has decided to cancel Good Vibes, ruling out the possibility of a second season. Created by David Gordon Green, the animated series ran for 12 episodes on MTV, from October until December 2011.

The show was paired with Beavis and Butt-Head and attracted more of a female audience than the Mike Judge series. According to Deadline, there were discussions between the cable channel and the Good Vibes producers about possible ways to keep the show on the air. Though MTV execs liked the direction of Good Vibes, the show ultimately wasn’t attracting enough viewers to justify a second season.

The series premiered opposite the sixth game of the World Series and attracted a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.6 million total viewrs. That was about about half as many viewers as lead-in Beavis and Butt-Head brought in. The season (now series) finale drew just a 0.2 demo rating and 490,000 viewers.

In some ways, it was a small miracle that Good Vibes ever became a series in the first place. It was initially developed at Warner Bros. TV and FOX ordered a pilot in 2008 with Adam Brody, Alan Tudyk, Danny McBride, Debi Mazar, Jake Busey, Josh Gad and Olivia Thirlby providing the voices. FOX passed on the pilot but the producers kept working on finding the project a home. They did in 2010 and were able to keep the voice cast intact for the MTV run.

The fate of Beavis and Butt-Head, which finished its latest season on December 29th, is still up in the air.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Good Vibes has been cancelled? Did you like the animated series?

I lives in Cuba, here we dont have MTV, no marketing, anouncements etc, previous the animated series. But almost everyone that saw it enjoyed it a lot, and wait for the 2nd season, while pasing the dvd (and rips) from hand to hand. That mean a good product. It si a shame has been canceled. snif, snif

Im not saying this was a bad show but this show was a type of show that I’d watch if there’s nothing else I like on. But what I dont understand why would they cancel this and there are others shows that they should have been cancelled, like, 16 and pregnant. But what done is done, I’m not to upset about it but I wonder why cancel this :/.

I freakin’ loved Good Vibes! Me and my brother were still waiting for it to come back before today. We had no idea it was canceled. We didn’t even consider it. It was to good a show. Being paired up w/ Beavis and Butt-head was genius. There was nothing better last year than smokin’ a bowl and watchin’ those two shows.

Yeah Good Vibes had toilet humor and all but inside it had a heart. Most shows are stupid and pointless but this one actually had a freaking moral an lesson at the end of a episode. I think this show deserves a second chance, because it was pitted against the already popular Beavis and Butthead.

Okay, I know a lot of people are hating on it, but might I ask why? There are WAY worse shows on now that aren’t being cancelled. Off the top of my head I’d say Metalocalypse and Problem Solverz. Good Vibes was funny. It had some vulgar humor but not as bad as, say, South Park, and it was interesting. I really enjoyed watching it and I was anxious for another season. I am seriously disappointed and I’m going to miss it greatly.
