Ground Floor: Season Two Renewal for TBS Sitcom

Ground Floor on TBS season twoTBS has picked up a second season of their original sitcom, Ground Floor. The office comedy debuted in November and wrapped its first season in January. Season two, which will also have 10 episodes, will start airing later this year.

Here’s the official press release:

TBS Renews Bill Lawrence Comedy “Ground Floor,” Starring Skylar Astin, Briga Heelan and John C. McGinley

TBS has renewed its new sitcom hit Ground Floor for a second season. Created by Emmy(R) nominees Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town, Scrubs, Clone High) and Greg Malins (2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother), the series stars Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Briga Heelan (Cougar Town) and John C. McGinley (Scrubs). Lawrence, Jeff Ingold (upcoming Surviving Jack, Undateable) and Jeff Astrof (The New Adventures of Old Christine) serve as executive producers on Ground Floor, which is being produced for TBS by Lawrence’s Doozer, in association with Warner Horizon Television. TBS has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to begin in late 2014.

Ground Floor was one of four TBS series that ranked among basic cable’s Top 10 original sitcoms of 2013 with adults 18-49. In its first season, the show averaged 1.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, including 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 575,000 adults 18-34.

Set in the modern world of corporate America, Ground Floor centers on Brody (Astin), a young, hot-shot investment banker who thought he was just having a one-night stand with Jennifer (Heelan), a beautiful woman he met at an office party. He discovers, however, that she works in the maintenance department for the building where his investment bank- Remington Trust – is located. Suddenly their worlds begin to collide in the most unexpected ways. Facing Brody’s critical boss, Mr. Mansfield (McGinley), as well as annoyed colleagues, the pair must find a way to deal with their growing feelings for each other in this modern take on Romeo & Juliet.

Starring as Jennifer’s co-workers in the building’s maintenance office are Rory Scovel (Zach Stone is Going to be Famous) as Harvard, a know-it-all who’s enamored with her; James Earl (Glee) as Derrick, a guy who is tough on the outside, but a pussy cat on the inside and always looks out for his friends; and Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect) as Tori, a sexy young woman who loves to hit the clubs every night and catch up on her sleep at work. In addition, Rene Gube (Upright Citizens Brigade) stars as Brody’s colleague Threepeat, a competitive go-getter who’s not quite as shallow as he seems.

As the first season of Ground Floor ended, Mansfield forced Brody to make a choice between opening up the company’s new Hong Kong office, or joining Jennifer for a vacation in Paris. Brody chose Jennifer, which may mean he’s now out of a job. Meanwhile, Threepeat wound up rooming with Harvard after giving up his old apartment in hopes of getting the Hong Kong assignment.

One of the Best Comedy Series in MANNNNNY years. Brilliantly humor and characters, good writing… sadly TBS DOESN’T PROMOTE IT. ARE YOU LISTENING?? ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS SINCE FRIENDS AND SEINFELD IS GOING TO GET CANCELLED BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT. the Boss is hilarious, jenny is stunning and the basement crew is a scream…. YOU ONLY MAKE TEN EPISODES AND YOU EXPECT IT TO BE A HIT WITHOUT PROMOTION???

i swear… someone is going to screw this up at TBS and tank a hilarious show because they didn’t promote it and make more episodes. very, VERY sad.
