I to was VERY upset the show was canceled. Iam 36 and watched the show with my grandma and my mom. Guiding Light was the ONLY show during the day I watched and now they have a game show on which is not interesting to watch. I REALLY wish they would put it back on. My grandson is 3 and he would also look forward to watching with me even though his favorite part was the song in the begining. We would sing it together. PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very upset with you at CBS you have know idea what people want. You keep shows like The Bold and the Beautiful and As The World Turns on the air and take a show like the Guilding Light off the air. To me its the only soap that is not sleazy and is good for the family. I have watched this show for 30 years, my grandmother got me started and I taped it everyday, never missed a show. The worst part of all there was no warning on tv about the show ending i found out on Friday night when i watched my taped show and seen the end when it finished and thought to myself what is that about. Well i found out on Monday night what it was all about. This has upset me very much because this is the only soap i have ever watched and i think at this point you have lost a viewer, i personaly will never watch another show you produce. I felt the way this was done was very unprofessional and not a way to treat a loyal viewer. I cann’t understand why you left the other boring ones on and took off the best soap every made. I hope you do read this and i am sure i am not the only upset viewer and whoever decided this may need to rethink this.

i am 30 years old and i remember as a kid watching it with my mom and great grandmother i am a huge fan of gl and i hated to see it go i almost cried after i work 8 hrs a day i would come home and watch it why did you guys take it off the air yes im a soaps addict especially gl i hope that you guys put it back on the air go figure it starts gettin good and interresting you guys take it away and put some stupid show in its place you have some die hard fans of gl and to take it off the air is stupid i would rather watch gl then any other soap please please put it back on the air all of us die hard fans would love it it just started gettin interesting and jonathan and sarah just came back and lizzie and bill was expecting a child and reva and josh was talking bout gettin remarried ugh i am so mad right now i cant believe its gone off the air. Guiding Light is the only soap opera that I care to watch anymore, CBS is going to lose me as far as watching anything. Nothing else makes my day except watching GL.
Please don’t take it off the air, there is so much that needs to happen that can not be fit
in one day. GL is a way for me to relax, and I look forward to watching it everyday.

I am 42 years old and have been watching since I was 5 years old with my mother. The only time I stopped was when Gus died and I was so mad because now he was gone, Philip was gone and Jonathan was gone, all my favoties. I stopped watching. It was wierd I actually I went through a mourning period and a sort of depression and didn’t know why. My mom was the one that finally figured out that I was missing the show and as soon as I started watching again I started feeling better. It was as if I had lost an entire family. I am telling you now if you don’t find a way to save this classic show you are going to have millions of mourning depressed people on your hands. Please save the show!!!!!!!!! And bring Ricky Paul Golden back when you do. I have faith in you, even if Oliva has his heart. You can get around that. You always do.

I have watched Guilding Light for over 40 years although not at 10:00 AM. I tape
it every day and watch it in the evening. Has the network any way to know how
many people are taping the show? The evening shows, with a very few exceptions,
are not worth watching. I would never tape a game show and will go over tp CNN.

I am so unhappy with the decision to cancel Guiding Light. I have been watching this show for 30 years. When I worked outside my home, I would tape the show and watch it after work. Even when we would go on vacation I would set the vcr and watch the shows upon our return. My mom and I would watch together and now my daughter has started watching. BIG mistake to cancel.

I grew up watching GL w/my parents. My mom became paralyzed 11 yrs. before she died so I would go over every day to watch it with her. Now I’m 48 and MY “boys” watch it with me. They really loved Jonathan, they could idendify with him. Of course the hot chicks too! I’m sure this tradition has gone on in many families. It’s a show to gather the family to see because it’s not tacky, there are real issues to deal with and the characters make it believable. I will change channels if $250,000 or Valarie comes on……I guarantee that!! Aloha!

My father traveled in his business. In the summer he would invite me to go along.
We would listen to Guiding Light everyday while riding in the car. When it began on TV we were delighted. CBS was the only station in my home town. How fortunate I have been to have had the opportunity to have this fond feeling of home when i watch it and to feel that these characters are friends. Best wishes to all. We will miss you.

All I have to say is shame on you for cancelling this wonderful show. I have been watching this show since I was 15 and grew up with Phiilip, Beth, Mindy, and Rick. And Reva is someone I wish that I could be like. I would like to see her stay with Jeffery, It is time for Reva and Josh to come to an end. They just don’t work for me anymore. You really need to find a way to save this show. It is never too LATE!!! Like they say, ” NEVER SAY NEVER”. Please make the viewers happy and save this show. I know you can do it. Life is way to short and when you take our icons away it just makes you wonder if things in this world will ever make us feel safe and stable again.

I am 65 years old, my mother watched it till she passed away , I watch it and my daughters watch it. When they were in the Florida Keys when Reva went off the bridge, I found my best friend (who had a walk on part) after 20 years. Being from the Keys it was very special to me. I remember sitting watching the show with my grandmother who listened/watched it ’til the day she passed on (at 98 yrs old). I haven’t been able to watch EVERYDAY ’til episodes started being put on the CBS website. Now when I get a chance to wind down I sit and watch it on the computer, which is typically easier to do with a 4 yr old since he always has to have cartoons. It’s pretty addicting ’cause it always leaves you wondering what’s next. I am not really into much drama or soaps for that matter…but I love GL and I really wish they would keep it going! Oh, and Mallet (Rob Bogue)is hot! If he by any chance reads this, if it don’t work out with Mandy Bruno look me up! LOL

Please reconsider taking this show off.
These people are like family. Reva, Josh and I have grown into the mature years together. Phillip, Beth and Dr. Bower have grown up with my children. I have been a part of the audience since 1963.
This show has kept up with the times of weird things that happen in our world during this age.
Its a very good excape from my dull world into an exciting world of wealth, love, sex, lies, deceit and murder. Its all just a story line but it takes a good plot to keep intrest!!!! Keep it going another 72 years !!!!!!

I have watched GL forever. I can remember watching when visiting my grandmother in the 60′s. Please find a way to keep GL on the air. If you absolutely can not keep it on the air I hope the writers will write story lines that let the viewers know what happens to each character. Don’t leave it up in the air that would be so cruel! I have never watched game show or talk shows so please find a way to keep GL alive!

I will be so sad if they take GL off the air…… I love this show and have watched it my whole life.. as a kid with my mom, and now I watch it with my hubby. It is the only soap we watch together.. I do have to DVR it and that may be why the ratings have dropped is the use of the DVR…. I have a 3 year old so it is really the only way I can watch it in PEACE ..Please dont take it away =(

GL is the ONLY soap opera that I watch. I have been watching as far back as I can remember and I am 53 years old. After 72 years of runing this program on radio & tv, why now? Oh yeah, the ratings. You didn’t ask me to take a poll about how I felt and I’m sure you didn’t ask millions of others how they felt. The program has gotten better and Phillip is back!!! The Bauer’s, The Lewis’, The Spaulding’s are all still part of the story line in some way. Before it ends, will Rick be happy with someone? Will Josh & Reva be “together forever”, and will Phillip & Beth be together with Alan OUT of the picture? There is so much left to be acted out without trying to rush it for a finale. And whatever you do, please do NOT replace this show with another of those horrible “talk shows” or “reality shows”. We have plenty of that to avoid all ready. I can only hope that these messages will help in some way. If not thanks for all the years we had with GL, and thanks to all the actors past & present who have worked so hard for so many years to bring us a great show year after year.

Like many viewers I have memories of watching GL with my mother, my grandmother, and my sons. I’ve been a loyal P&G consumer for over 40 years. I thank them for providing the soap all these years, but CBS–not another talk show or reality show. Spend the money providing real entertainment for a change. The airwaves are saturated with so called reality TV and talk shows–I just put in a DVD instead. You are losing me with all this talk TV. And I’ll just switch to store brands.

I sincerely hope that Soapnet or some other channel can keep the light from going out. Despite it’s problems over the past few years, GL is the one CBS soap that I still love. I will miss GL because it has kept part of its history over the years (The Spauldings, The Lewises, The Shaynes, The Bauers (even though Rick is the only one currently on the canvas)). Most shows have abandoned the long history that the writers of the golden age of soaps worked so hard to create. I wish I could say the same for ATWT, which I feel has dropped most of the history created by the late, great Douglas Marland.

Debbie, GL airs at 2 p.m. here. I think the local stations decide when shows air. I might be wrong, but it has always been on in that time slot where I am.

i use to watch the guiding light when it was showing in the afternoon after they moved it to mornings i lost interest. they should put it on in the afternoons again instead of some boring talk or game show. The ratings would probably shoot right up.

Now they all have children who are grown.If you take Guiding Light off I won’t watch what you replace this show with during their time slot. I don’t care for The Bold and The Beautiful but love my afternoon soaps.Please take take away the one thing that allows us an escape from our stressful lives wit the downturn of our economy!

Please………NO!!! I started watching GL back in 1976 when I was expecting my first child. I have faithfully either taped (VHS) and now DVR my soap every single day, and really look forward to watching it. It is something I can relax, and kick back after a day of work and watch the gang, and escape reality with. I had the the opportunity of meeting several cast members in October of 07 when I made my first trip to New York City. I first met David, (Edmund) waiting on a ferry to cross over from New Jersey to New York. What a sweet guy. He invited us to come and party with the cast after a fan club luncheon. At the Marriot Marquis I met several others and all were happy to pose in pics with me, and all of them loved on me like they had known me forever. Alan Spaulding is a sweetheart too! Don’t take it away….please. There are still some of us that are die hard fans, come on. That crap you are talking about replacing GL with will not redeem the time slot, believe that!

Well to be perfectly honest, it’s the only CBS soap I don’t really like or care to watch. I love Young & the Restless and Bold & the Beautiful …even though they have similar stories and set ups. But when 3PM comes around I do change to ABC to catch General Hospital. I don’t know what it is but Guiding Light doesn’t interest me too much. It just seems like a whole lot of nothing but eh, perhaps I don’t watch it enough to know.

Although now a days I’m not home on time to catch much day time television, but I’ll get to catch up in the Summer a bit hopefully. I know you can see some soaps online but I don’t think the campus would appreciate me watching them in the Library lol.
