Well The Gl is gone and I am so very sad to miss my old friends. I have been a life long fan and the hour that I use to stop everything and watch my only show. I now just keep on working doing something, anything to stay busy and not think about what plot Reva was going to get into next. Or what if the show could have been saved. Wonder if they will one day have a GL Reunion and all the cast can come back for the show. That is an idea…..well maybe. I just want to say to the cast, Thank you all for the many years of laughter and tears. I will miss you all so very much. As I do already. Take care and be well one and all.

My friend and I stumbled across this show like the day before it’s cancellation and couldn’t stop laughing about how incredibly ridiculous it was, how terrible the actors were, and the huge number of irrelevant characters and plots that were going on at the same time. It was so corny and funny that we decided to look up clips on youtube and then coincidentally found out that this is the LONGEST RUNNING SERIES EVER!? Most shows get too ridiculous and die after, what, 5 seasons? I know soap operas are generally terrible but this was a completely unexpected level of bad, this show must have been ridiculous from the start, and has been roasting in its own awfulness for decades to become this silly.

Later on that day, a news program informed us that the series finale was the next day, so I decided to watch it. It’s so rare to get such a good laugh. This post may seem mean, but I would genuinely thank the producers and cast for making me laugh so hard. Whether that was their intention or not, I appreciate it.

I have been watching guiding ligh for many year,I tried other soaps but none compared to guiding light. Oot of all the soaps frm all the stations the guiding light was the most fulfillig TO the network who cancelled it shame on you,you all lose a lot of veiwer some that will not even what the other soaps on your channel’let lone watch astupid game show that bob barker does not host. Shame shame on you , you have destroyed apart of America soap time,so befor I say good-bye to you CBS I Ask you to return THE GUDING LIGHT!!!!!

I just watched the last episode of Guiding Light, (and I dont understand what happened to Jeffery O’neil, I know he was looking for Edmond. Did they just leave that hanging, or did I miss something, and did Johnathen never tell Reva? Well I am , as well as everybody else upset about this show going off the air, I have been watching it 32 years. I have cried since I heard. and the characters are like family , you know. I watched that show faithfully, or recorded it. Much better than the sitcoms and movies. I wish all the actors the best. they brought so much into my life, and others. I will miss them so much.
I think that is the worst thing , to take it off the air. Just stupid.! and not fair to them or us fans. I will NEVER watch anymore soaps. It is like a death in the family.

I still can’t believe that Guiding Light is gone……..it’s very sad. I enjoyed watching the program. I grew up watching this soap with my mom. Why did it receive poor ratings?? If a ever a soap was to receive bad ratings it should be Bold and the Beautiful, I find that one to be very boring and unrealistic…..The Guiding Light seemed to have stories that touch your everyday life. GL will be missed along with all of the cast……I have grown up with them and feel I know them all personally. Sad to see the show go………..

i been watching guiding light since i was 10 years old now that it is gone i don`t think i am going to watch tv as much cause that was the only reason i watch tv in the day time
i guess i`ll have to find something else to and it is going to be hard and i am going to miss
my soap there will be no other like it GUIDING LIGHT that was my show !

I can`t believe my show is not going to be there next week!!!! I will be lost at 2 oclock on Monday. With all the junk that CBS has on why this show? And they think another game show is better ??? I do not get it. I started watching with my mom and have watched it for most of my 50 years. I am very disappointed in CBS. They do not get my vote!!!!!! While the other soaps seem so out there the GL is so down to earth. I will miss it terribly. I will have to go for a walk at 2 everyday to get my mind off it. But no matter what I wont be watching CBS!!!!!!! I wish all of you actors the very best in your future & I will surely miss you all in my 2 O clock get away to Springfield .

I promised myself when I retired I would not become a couch potato and just sit around and watch soaps, but became captivated by Guiding Light again. I will surely miss all of the cast as they seem to have become my family too. Reva & Josh have always seemed to be
meant for each other and no one else and have always been very realistic. Kind of like my husband and I who have been married for 56 years. I hope they are together on the last day of the show.

My mom, now 94, was one of your radio listeneners; then of course, when
tv came along, she was an avid watcher of GL.. As a little girl, I would come home from school to catch the closing scenes. Then as I grew older & had homes of my own GL has always been a part of that home. When I was in work outside my home, a VCR was set to record the happeings in Springfield. And it still is set when I’m unavailable to watch!! I do wish another station would pidck the show up!! I will dearly miss GL & all the wonderfull actors & actresses coming to visit daily. Good Luck to each & everyone; if not in Springfield we’ll see you elsewhere, I do hope!

I am very sad to see Guiding Light leave the air. I have been watching it since a little girl with my Mother the end of this year I’ll be seventy. I set my tape every day so I can come home from work and just sit and relax and watch my TV family now what do I have to look forward to. Guiding Light is the best and has the best actors and actresses I know my children and friends will miss them also this is terrible for us and also for all the cast. May God Bless you all.

I will sadly miss the Guiding Light. I grew up watching it with my mom and It will seem like and era has ended. I watched so many of the of the people grow old with me it only seem natural when they got gray or put on weight. It was okay because I was doing the same thing. I hope that all of actors go on to other roles in whatever they want to TV or movies or just decide to retire with me and spend a comfortable time doing anything they want.

I’ve watched the Guiding Light ever since I was a kid, I am 64 now. I will miss seeing it and was surprised that it was going off the air. I will miss seeing the actors and following the story. It seems to me it was a real life story from day to day and things that do happen in an everyday situation.

I don,t understant how a good show gets taken off and the other trash stays on. Please, please do not let Guiding Light end. I am so sad that this might be the case. Please, please, do not let Guiding Light end. It is very upsetting. I can’t even imagine that this could be true. How, how – could it be that The Guiding Light would be the one to go! This is a nightmare for we, the viewers. The Guiding Light is more real than any of the others and it serves a very important role as teacher. I have learned a lot about how to handle life, life events, circumstances, choices, etc. and a lot about how not to handle life events, circumstances, choices, etc. This show has and does provide a very important service to the world and CBS should allow atleast one REAL LIFE show to continue for the good our world community!

The absloute best soap opera ever. Been a fan for 40 years and my mom was long before that. I know it’s soooooo silly, but I’ve actually cried – it’s like a death of a family member. I find I’m mourning already and it still has a week to go. Please bring it back somehow. It’s the only soap opera that I watch faithfully. I think the acting is superb – Reva, Josh ( I wish they’d get back together), Philip, Alan, Shane, Dina, etc. Reva is probably my favorite. She has made me cry so many times. Being a mom of twin 3 year olds, this was my time out. It was my FAVORITE soap because of the characters, actors, writing, and FAMILY feel. It was the most “realistic” with everyday lives. I will miss it like crazy and will keep it on my DVR for a long time to come. SHAME ON CBS!

guiding light should habe been syndicated by cbs distrivution-on cbs, abc, nbc , fox or lifelined. no show can survive at 3pm on cbs since the affiliates an cbs o&o’s did
not carry ‘guiding light’ at 3 eastern, 2 cenreal, etc.now ‘general hospital ‘ will dominate without competition from cbs or nbc.
try weaning bold and the beautiful from young and restless; it might survive but at present falls by a full ratings point even with its present lead.

Please,Please, Please do not take one of the best shows ever off the air. What will we do without springfield in our lives. I am so hopeful that another station will pick them up. We live in a world where we need a whole lot of love and guiding light expresses this with the utmost feelings. I am very upset about this. Save Guiding Light. There is no other program that can ever replace it.

There hasn’t been a television show that I’ve enjoyed more than Guiding Light. When they started shooting all the outdoor scenes over the past year or so, I knew something was up. I keep hoping that there will be a change of heart and executives and head honchos will see what a mistake they’re making. Please reconsider this decision. I’ve been watching the show for about 25 years and nursed my babies while watching. I missed Harley and Gus so much when they left the show, it was like losing very close friends. Wendy in Canada

I am truly going to miss the story lines. My favorite actor’s/actresses have been Beth Ehlers (Harley), Kim Z. (Reva), the 2009 (resent) casting’s of Bill & Lizzie; and Frank, the resent (2009) Shayne, and Billy Lewis (resent actor – 2009) and Jeffrey O’neil (the actor playing in 2009). Oh, by the way, I like the Reva/Jeffrey character’s together!! I am in hopes that the show will end with the two of them back together! Again, like “Reva” said, she has moved on…. I think that means time for the new guy to stay.

You are all going to be greatly missed! I also started watching this show as a teenager and was watching in after school with my mother. My own daughter now will watch it sometimes with me, when she’s not too busy with sports and school stuff. Her favorite character’s are Bill & Lizzie (the current actor/actress – 2009).

All in all, you will ALL be sadly missed!

I think to replace Guiding Light after all these years is just wrong. And to replace it with a game show is disgusting. I started watching this show with my grandmother when I was about 7 years old. I have so come to love all the characters and if the numbers are low it isn’t because people just stopped watching, it ‘s the people in charge that are ******** up. Let another network pick this up and bring back some of the older characters like they did with Philip. It can still be saved, don’t let a program tha’s been on more than 70 years and means so much to us all be sacrificed for yet another game show we don’t need. We need more of Josh and Reva and everyone.

What a shame that we lose another show because the networks say it’s not getting the numbers as no one is watching it. Come on! The viewers and fans have spoken and so tried to keep this show alive, what will it take for the networks to stop taking off the shows that America watches. My great grandmother listened to GL on the radio so my grandmother did as well. GL has been around for my grandmothers’ whole life until next month. I stayed with my grandmother all the time so it’s been there for my life so far. My mamaw recorded it so we could watch it with my papaw in the evenings when he got home from work. I have some wonderful memories around this show. My papaw was so funny when he’d get mad at Alan for doing something mean and he’d fuss about Josh and Reva not being together when they should be. My papaw passed away in 1998 and this show was one of those things that still made me feel just a little bit closer to him. I will miss it terribly. I wish all the actors the best and I’d like to say thanks to all of them for helping create those memories that I’ll treasure for the rest of my life

I am so sad after all these years of growing up with the cast of Guiding Light I feel I know them all so personally. I was a very young child and my mom and I would sit down and watch this series everyday. I remember Mama and Papa Bauer, that’s a long time ago to still be watching. Now the networks are taking this away from me and many other viewers who have been faithful throughout the years. I wish all the actors well and hope they find employment. But I must say my heart is broke beyond compare. In my eyes they’ll never be another soap like or as good as GL. I’m praying that someother network will be pick it up, still hoping to the very end.

Please don’t take my favorite soap off the air that I grew up with!!!!!!! I started watching guiding light with my mom as a baby and now my children watch the show with me. I truly enjoyed the story lines and the characters. The story lines seemed so true to everyday life.

I WATCHED THE SHOW SINCE IT WENT TO TV ANDI LISTENEDTO IT IN THE 40′S WHEN i CAME HOME AT LUNCH FROM SCHOOL. I PROBABLY HAVE NOT MISSED MORE THAN 10 EPISODES SINCE 1975 WHEN WE GOT A VCR. NEEDLESS TO SAY I FEEL LIKE I KNOW THESE PEOPLE PERSONALLY. I WILL BE ABLE TO GET OVER NOT HAVING REVA AND JOSH ANYMORe AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHERS BUT I WILL CERTAINLY MISS ALL OF THE ACTORS AS INDIVIDUALS AS WHO KNOWS WHEN I WILL EVER SEE THEM AGAIN. I will miss this show. I will miss the story’s, the actors…After all these years…OMG
The people that let certain actors go killed this show.
Bringing Philip back was the 1st step to the show…But it was too late. Have you ever witnessed a scene with Reva and Philip. They were so heart felt. No sex just real adoration…..
Bringing Ed back, Maureen back, the originals back. Fletcher Back…all too late.
What a shame.
