i am so upset i have not been able to watch the guiding light i loved the show i feel depressed i am no longer able to watch it! if there was money troubles with the network why not cancel a different show on cbs that was as good such as the bold and the beautiful that soap never changes always has the same story line and is boring! you need to put the guiding light back on!

I have watched GL for over 40 yrs and am going to be lost without it. You wrapped up the show, with the exception of the Jeffrey Edmond storyline. Are we to just make up our own ending to their part of the story? I guess since the show is going off the air, you all dont care one way or the other. At least my mind can rest easy…Reva and Josh will be together forever now.

Very upset to have The Guiding Light leave the air!! I do daycare in my home and that is the time when I sit down relax, have a bite to eat and enjoy my favorite daytime show!! I was also upset not knowing what happened to Jeffrey and Edmond?? Are they still chasing each other around, kill each other off, or what? Everyone else is happy married, having kids, etc., but what happened to them?????????????????

I have been a loyal fan of GL for 43 years – all of my adult life. I remember the first day I saw the the program and fell in love with all the characters and especially the town. The opening credits (which have evolved over the years) include my real town’s street sign, (Springfield Ave/Main St.) township sign(Welcome to Springfield Township) and Springfield Fire Department. Most of all, I have been watching every soap that has ever been aired but GL is the only one, in my opinion, that never strayed too far away from it’s original ideas of “family” with the three core families of Lewis, Cooper and Bauer. Their characters were well developed, the plots were well written and always believable. The final episode on Sept. 18, 2009 perfectly wrapped up every loose end. Everyone came full circle to where they belonged – back in SPRINGFIELD! Kudos to a wonderful cast, crew and production staff for sustaining quality daytime TV for 72 years – a world’s record which I hope no one will ever break!

I’m shocked they are dropping GL off the air. It is a show I grew up on also. Please find solution to keep in on the air. I’m very sad that it is going.

I was not aware that Guiding Light was going to go off the air…….I remember my Mom listening to it on the radio and then watching it on our very first tv set…….it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember…….I feel a horrible since of loss …….as if a loved one is going to pass away and I know it ahead of time……I want to know what is happening to my favorite characters but then I do not want the days to pass , knowing it will end soon……………….What i do not understand is why is it going off……..is this just another sign of our economy ?…….have the writers run out of material? Is there anything we loyal viewers can do to keep it on the air? PLEASE PLEASE say thank u to all the wonderful actors who have come into our homes and hearts………

I remember listening to Guiding Light on the radio with my grandmother. Then we watched it on TV together. My other grandmother watched it too. It was the only one we watched. I watched it while rocking my 3 children to sleep, and continue to watch as I prepare to retire from teaching. I’m so sad to hear that this part of my life will be ending at the same time as my lifelong career. The characters have always seemed so real to me, even if the situations weren’t always believable. I do hope there is some chance of it being picked up by another network. It will truly be missed!

Please find another solution for guiding light, I have been a very loyal fan for over 20 years. This is our TV family. It will be a sad day when the show ends. Internet or Lifetime we will take it! I do agree Reva and Josh always, they should get back together!

i;m a 67 year old lady who has watched this show from the begining, and i can’t believ e *** hat you are taking it off the air, It has become part of my life watching reva and all of them, you need to have reva sing again and she has a great voice, and you don.t have her sing, enough, and please let her get back with the love of her life, i just love the show and am going to miss it so much . you are making a big mistake by doing this,

I am a third generation fan of Guiding Light. I have been watching it for nearly 30 years. My mother & Grandma listened to it on the radio, then television. Over the years I have watched Guiding Light present the most talented actors on television some of them moving on to become famous in theater & movies. Guiding Light had controversial story lines that were done tastefully & were educational. It was always hard to see a favorite charactor leave but I was never disappointed with their replacement. The last change that happened to this program was the best. It is how they make it, you feel like your right there with them. You actually “see” Springfield. This is one of a very few great programs on the air & canceling it is a great mistake.

Why aren’t the Chamberlain family, and the Thorpe (Roger) mentioned. They were a hugh story line in the 70’s and 80’s. Where is Ross Martin, or Nola Reerdan and her husband Quinton? These should not be left out in any synopsis of the show. Bill Bauer also had another wife and family (his big secret). I hope all this will be included someway in the history.

Please hear our pleas and save this wonderful show that is part soap and mostly part family. Read the many emails…generations have enjoyed this show…72 years makes it historic and history needs to be respected. The show is so very good and improving more and more. Please do not let history end.

It’s a shame that this wonderful soap is being cancelled I absolutely love it. No wonder though, when comments are being made about christianity and homosexuality. This is a ’show’ for heaven’s sake! It’s time to join the 21st century and realise that homosexuality isn’t anti christian, isn’t abnormal and is something we should as ‘christians’ welcome. Good on Guiding light for introducing this story line, maybe more will open the eyes of bigots hiding behind a supposed religion. God believes in love.

I can only say it will be a sad day when this soap opera goes off the air. I can remember in the 1950’s when I was just a little girl, my mother had always watched your show faithfully until she passed away in 1995. My mother was an immigrant who came to the United States in 1952 when this show first aired. My mother didn’t know much English at the time except for a few basic words and phrases. She told me, when I was older, she learned how to speak the English language from having watched the show every day. She just loved the actress who played the part of Berta Bauer. Please forgive me if I have the first name spelled incorrectly. I just remember her talking about the Bauer family all the time. It is with great sadness that their viewing audience will be saying good-bye to a piece of television history. I, too, will be very sad to see this show go; for it is also a part of my past that I will be saying good-bye to forever. Please, keep the light shining.

I was born in 1956 and was raised on GL. It is the Best soap on TV and should be left on TV for the Generations to come…

GL is a great show. That they are showing a potentially gay storyline has nothing to do with it, as far as I can see, “Anonymous”! You’re just showing your true colors. Not all Christians are opposed to gay relationships. Christian way? Slavery used to be the Christian way as well as opposition to interracial relationships.

I don’t think a daytime soaps should show ******* or Homosexuals people on TV like it is acceptable. It is degrading and improper. It is not the Christian way to live or show to all the world. I don’t think God would approve. And in the end that is who will be the judge.
