I really liked what they were doing with this show and I think with a little time and couple of tweaks it could have been a bigger and longer series. An up to date theme of going from riches to rags. ABC n other like minded networks should be working on better story lines and jokes instead of only thinking about there precious ratings.

I thought this show was great, granted it wasn’t Frasier but I was so wanting to see Kelsey Grammer in another sitcom and this was as close to his Frasier character as you could get. I think the problem was the supporting cast just wasn’t as funny as Kelsey and there just wasn’t the chemistry as there was from the get-go with Frasier.

I think Hank was great! So real in this day and time. I didn’t care for Frasier at all. I thought is was stupid, although I did like Frasier on Cheers. I was very disappointed when they cancelled Hank. Come on, give us some sitcoms we can watch with out children. Instead we get Cougar Town? Yea, that’s a good one. Not!

It definitely got off to a slow start but by the Thanksgiving episode they had me in stitches. I couldn’t wait for it to come back after the Fall break. I guess it wasn’t a break after all. It’s really too bad….I hope they show the final 5 episodes.

Hank really sucked. I tried to give it a chance because I’m a huge Kelsey Grammer fan but I just couldn’t watch it. Eastwick was even worse. My favorite new show on ABC is The Middle. Modern Family and Cougar Town are good also but The Middle is hilarious and I love it!!! It is really a shame that Hank didn’t make it…..I was rooting for the show but it each episode was less funny than the previous one. I guess it will be hard for him to top Frasier which is my favorite sitcom of all time.

I can’t believe the number of people posting here who liked “Hank”. Were you people sober when you watched it? Only three episodes aired in my market, and each one was less funny than the one before it. And the pilot, to the point, sucked. The writing was purile, the scripts contrived, and apparently Mr. Grammer has a summer squash for an agent. He never should have signed to do this pathetic excuse for a tv series. Now, if ABC is truly serious about ratings, and if Mr. Grammer is truly serious about doing good work, then they should get together and do something no other comedy series has EVER done before: bring back Frasier in his new incarnation (remember, he was flying away to be with his love in the series finale). Let’s see where he ended up! Hank was an utter failure at EVERYTHING.

I loved this series. It was very likable and very funny and a “clean” show, unlike the ones that replaced it. It seems that people just do not like good, clean shows anymore. IMO Hank and shows like it,that aren’t mudded with blue humor,that don’t contain in the cast of characters at least one homosexual,that don’t rely on ***** jokes and don’t encourage a liberal” if it feels good do it” lifestyle ,will not last for long at all.this is why i feel that shows like “the middle” for example,won’t last very much longer unless some changes take place to include some of those things on a weekly basis.”the middle” and “hank” are very good family shows.i enjoyed what little i saw of ‘”hank” for that very trait.but truth be told,the 20 somethings (and younger)that are watching prime time tv have no interest in anything that doesn’t typify somehow the liberal lifestyle that thay they personally live on an every day basis. and that lifestyle isn’t a ‘G’ lifestyle.in fact shows like that are generally viewed as being ‘old school’..,no half nude girl in the show every week,no blue humor and no substance abusers. unfortunately the professional critics that work for the media also fit in this oddball catagory of people who consider tame shows like the middle and hank,etc nothing but boring and unfunny.but look carefully at what they critique as being entertainment..”cougar town”…see the difference??? i’m just sayin’!!!!
(btw,”cougar town imo is nothing more than ***** jokes and sexual humor in general all wrapped up into one half hour once a week..but this what the critics and viewers apparently want to see..if red foreman (eric’s dad)were here he’d just look at them and say…”dumbass”!!

Both my daughter (17) and I (40) thought that Hank was a very funny show. I do not know why it was cancelled so soon. It’s liek networks don’t even want to give new shows a chance to catch on.

One thing though… The article said that 5 episodes had aired and we only saw 3 episodes??? I have a DVR, we saw the series premeire and set the DVR to record all new episodes but it only recorded 3. So I am wondering whatever happened to the 2 that supposedly aired???

I think they were stupid to cancel this one so soon because it was an intelligent and funny show.

Wed has turned into our family night.. watching hank all the way to eastwick!!! I’m completely shocked they took Hank off. We enjoyed that show it was funny and their really isn’t any family shows on much anymore. Reality t.v. stinks.. and is boring!!! Friday night line was a great family night when I was growing up. People could save more money if t.v was good and then they wouldn’t have to go out to eat and rent movies!!! Frozen pizza and family time is great~ Wed’s have turned into so much more for my family.. we get snacks just for this night now.. great middle of the week break!!
Please bring Hank back and don’t cancel Eastwick… or we’ll just have to forget watching the rest..

We looked forward to Wednesday nights now, like we used to look forward to Thursday nights. Taking Hank off was a big mistake. I hope they do not put in another boring reality show to replace it.

So disappointing to learn Hank was canceled. it was a clean enjoyable family show. To replace it with repeats of Modern Family was a poor decision. Modern Family is horrible, as is Cougar Town. The few episodes of Modern family that have aired are hardly worth repeating. Bet it’s financial…it’s probably cheaper to air episodes of modern family rather than have to pay to air the remaining 5 episodes of Hank. We don’t even bother tuning in anymore. The only show we try to catch now is The Middle.
I agree with others who have posted and hope to see a revival of clean family sitcoms. Lifetime is working on this with Rita and Sherri. Both are great shows – lol funny. Maybe Kelsey Grammer needs to break from network and switch to lifetime, who appears has decided to fill the sitcom hole left by network with all the cheaper-to-produce reality tv and dancing/singing wanna-be’s – or CSI shows.
Hope he’s listening. He’s just too good not to be on TV.

Susanne, I LOATHE reality TV. I had only the best wishes and highest hopes for Hank but the writing deteriorated from episode to episode. Writing is what usually kills these shows and Hank was falling into one tired sitcom cliche after another. Everybody in the cast was capable of much better, but if the material isn’t there for them to work with, then there’s not much they can do. There are just so many good writers out there and many more shows that have to be written with the explosion of cable in the last decade or so.

I liked the show. I think shows need a little more time to catch on when premiered in the fall. Many families are just getting back into the swing of school and activities and tv isn’t a priority. By late fall and winter, we have a routine and are seeking out some tv shows. I know many people, like myself, were hoping for a revival of sitcom (thank goodness for The Middle…it’s fantastic). There’s nothing like sitting down for 1/2 hour, laughing, and not being lost if you missed the last episode. Believe it or not, some of us just don’t like reality tv or don’t want to solve a murder mystery. We can all use a good laugh each week!

I was enjoying this show, I admit the family, especially the Husband/Wife relationship didn’t seem natural together and Kelsey is getting a bit old for this part and it shows. I really enjoy his acting but this was far from a perfect fit for him.

I am big fan of Kelsey Grammer. I think Frasier was one of the best shows ever on TV. I still watch the reruns. But Hank was terrible. I could tell 5 minutes into the first show that it wouldn’t last. I think it was worse than “Back to You” and that was hard to do. I hope he gets another, better designed show. He needs a cast around him like there was on Frasier.

It’s a shame but I’m not surprised. If any show (like this one) has little sex appeal, it’s doomed from the start. No wonder I choose to watch old TV programming on DVD. Hank, wasn’t all that bad, if fact, the Thanksgiving episode was one of the best. I would honestly like to see the remaining 5 which didn’t air. Seeing most of the crap ABC airs, Hank looks splendid and has some family values and it has believable situations. Network Television for the most part is awful. No wonder viewer interest is up via the internet.

I think it’s extremely annoying. Hank had some funny episodes that made me laugh out loud. Mostly I am disappointed that once again ABC has canceled a show without giving it a chance. The worse part is once again they already have more episodes they could air…why not at least air those? I don’t even want to watch the station any more. It infuriates me. They did this to Defying Gravity as well… right when the episodes were getting exciting and I was getting hooked. Of course I could name the others i.e. In the Motherhood but there’s no room for all of them in this post. I really need to not watch anything until it’s picked up for at least one more season.

Even my wife who is not much on comedies and doesn’t even care much for Kelsey Grammer agrees me which she doesn’t do very often, (lol) that Hank is much better than The Middle, Modern Family, and Cougartown.

I thought David Koechner who played Grady Funk made the show unbelievably funny.

I am sick and tired of these tv ex(******* idiots) killing that mans shows. It appears the comedy writers and executives at ABC have their heads where the sun never shines. Hank was awful, so are The Middle and Modern Family. Cougar town may survive as long as sex tops their agenda, but it isn’t very funny. As for me, I haven’t watched anything on ABC since Boston Legal. Thank goodness I discovered The Big Bang Theory on CBS, or I’d have no new comedies at all to watch.

Hank WAS a show that was flawed in concept, writing and delivery. Although the concept of fish out of water story line is been done successfully on other TV shows in the past, the creators/writers of HANK created a character that was truly unlikable and unrelateable to most viewers. Most people that watch HANK had zero empathy for his character. When Kelsey Grammer acted in Cheers he was tolerable snob, when he acted un Frasier he was a whiney, pitiful snob, in HANK he was a whiney snob. That is not entertainment. Two ways this show could have been redeemed # 1) HANK loses it all and actually has to take a blue collar job — and/or #2) utilize the story telling devise of showing how life WAS for HANK rather than simply telling- Kelsey Grammers interpretation of the character , HANK , was like Frasier on Whiney Steroids. ABC didn’t cancel this show , poor choices doomed it.

Hank was the worse show by far on this “sitcom night”… I’m actually glad it’s gone… Cougar town should follow… I mean, Courtney Cox tries to hard and without her 5 “friends” she just can’t pull it off… I like Christa Miller, her sarcasm is fantastic, she was always awesome on Scrubs, and is actually the only good thing in Cougar Town… The Middle is sort of weird, but I kinda like it, even though Neil Flynn’s not using all his potencial… But the little kid cracks me up… Anyway, the only sitcoms I give a thumbs-up to are Modern Family, and also Community and Accidentally on Purpose, even though they air on different nights… I hope those 3 last… The others, well, won’t be missed…

I loved Kelsey Grammer’s performance but the rest of the cast is where the problem was. There wasn’t any chemistry and the kids were annoying characters rather than quirky and loveable like the script called for. Basically it was cast all wrong.

Plus, the storyline probably was hitting too close to home for many families out there and didn’t bring enough humor to the situation for the audience to find an escape in someone else’s version of the situation.

I can see Kelsey Grammer in the role of a Harvard professor having to deal with the hi jinx of university students. He could still be in the role of a Psychiatrist or Psychologist. David Hyde Pierce could be an occasional visiting colleague as well as Bebe Neuwirth (also a Psychiatrist).

The first episode was moderately amusing and I thought that if the writers settled in, found the characters and the special style of each actor, it could work. Never happened, at least not for me. The final two episodes were downright poor. I kept wondering when they were gloing to pull the plug.

For the record, i sat through the last episode of The Middle without even smiling. Modern Family, maybe. On the whole, a relatively mediocre line-up.

I actually started to watch sitcoms again with Hank. It did make me laugh and I was warming up to the other characters. I hate “The Middle”. Not only does it not make me laugh, I actually hate it. I don’t understand Cougar Town. Seriously. I watched several episode and I have no idea what the show is about. It’s a snoozer. Modern Family has its funny moments, but it has too many characters, therefore no, I don’t watch it anymore either. No this show was not bad. You don’t give people a chance to become familiar with the characters before you cancelled it. Most of us still see Kelsey as Frasier and since there will never be another sitcom as good as Frasier, it takes us awhile to get used to him as another character. Maybe if the network really wants a hit, team Kelsey up with the old cast of Frasier and bring Frasier back. This would be a win for all of us.

I enjoyed the hank show, need to get rid of the middle

I watched every episode that had aired. I wanted this show to succeed because I admire Kelsey Grammer. There was only one problem. This show simply did not make me laugh, which is a must for a sitcom. Nothing can ever top “Frasier,” but even his previous sitcom, “Back To You” was so much more enjoyable than “Hank.”

The thing about Kelsey is that his characters take a few shows to grow on you. I did not like Frasier at first but it grew and grew on me. The first time I saw Hank I thought it was a bomb but once again Kelsey started coming out of his box and the show as well as the character started to develop. Of course our little comments here is not going to make a bit of difference with the network as they seldom look past the trees to see the forest- ron

Fingers crossed The Middle is next. It’s the dirt poor man’s Malcolm in the Middle. They don’t even try to disguise it – same weird young kid, same look, they even take part of the title! Lame! Bring back Malcolm!
