Happy Town: ABC Dumps Cancelled TV Show Again!

Happy TownIf you were waiting anxiously to find out the identity of the mysterious Magic Man on ABC’s Happy Town, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Happy Town revolves around a bunch of strange disappearances and murders in a small town. The large cast includes Sam Neill, M.C. Gainey, Geoff Stults, Lauren German, Amy Acker, Steven Weber, Ben Schnetzer, Sarah Gadon, Jay Paulson, and Robert Wisdom.

After a disappointing start in the ratings, Happy Town was pulled off the airwaves for much of May. Before the show could return on June 2nd, ABC officially cancelled the series. Only eight episodes have been filmed but at least answers to some of the TV show’s mysteries will be revealed by the end.

Unfortunately, ABC has pulled the show off the air once again. Happy Town was scheduled to take next Wednesday off but return for June 30th and July 7th with the last installments. The network has decided, likely because Happy Town’s ratings have gotten really bad, to replace them with repeats of Castle.

It’s likely that ABC will get around to airing the last two episodes of Happy Town on a Saturday night sometime this summer. It won’t be soon though. On July 3rd, they’ll burn off the last episodes of the forgotten. On July 10th, the network’s airing the extra two episodes of Eastwick. Could Happy Town return on July 17th? Another mystery that we’ll have to wait to have solved.

What do you think? Are you upset that ABC has pulled the last two episodes of Happy Town? Do you think they’ll ever air?

Just found out about this show and was watching it on hulu and was excited to keep watching only to find out it was canceled. This was a great show, one that I would like to keep watching, I think they need to do more marketing for it, because like most other people I had no idea about it until I found it on Hulu and was looking forward to seeing more. Please put the show back on!

happytown was a very intriging show. My family watched it on hulu and wish that there was a better rating system for shows. It seems as that most of the shows that alot of people watch on the internet, which is the future of entertainment & networks should learn that or they will go the way of the newspaper.

My family, and I are very upset that they cancelled Happy Town! What a creative, and fun show. We hate all the stupid reality shows that clog up the networks. If I wanted reality why would I even watch tv! Its a chance to get away from this horrific rich run world we live in. Give us the rest of Happy Town ABC, and grow a pair.

was very upset that they cancelled and never explained who was the killer of the children. But I wouldn’t expect anything less from the television industry. Every time someone likes a show it is taken off for no reason without asking the public. We have no say even thought without us they wouldn’t have any jobs. But then the industry puts on reality shows that no one cares about or the Kardasian family or teen moms or Jersey Shore or any of the other shows that no one wants. please put it back.

Why do these tv networks do this , this is terrible leaving series incomplete people should boycott these show and tell the advertisers this is not good enough.

Would really love to see Happy Town back on.. Didn’t like being left Hanging on the end of what you did put out there….. Hope it can come back….. Should not just drop a show because of ratings before you do that should try a different night first…… Wed nights are bad for us with watching something…

I agree with the above, like the others I didn’t know it even existed until I too ran across it on hulu, when I mention it to others, they had never even heard about it. It was a great show, I’d even buy the DVD’s, I thought it was that good. So instead they keep the reality shows that shows how stupid or desperate people really are. Good job ABC-thumbs down to you.

Totally loved this show…but I don’t think anyone knows about it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked to other people about this show and they say ‘wow sounds good but I’ve never heard of it!” Guess it doesn’t get the publicity that crap like Jersey shore does. What a shame…a real intriguing show, original, great acting, great characters, mystery. Boooo ABC Boooo!

The reason the ratings were so low was becuase they did not spend the money properly to advertise the show through the proper channels to reach the correct audience. I did not even know this show existed until I came across it on Hulu. Now that it has taken off on unofficial websites, it just as great as the other Stephen King series, Haven. I would rather watch this show (even though its in my favorits list) than any of those anoying game shows. I agree with the pp, on giving the show more time to take. Cheers,Frasior, Roseanne, Simpsons, Family Guy.. All of these shows had Mulitpule season with different generations watching. And the comonality was it took different eppisodes to get hooked. Maybe a different network could take up season 2. I vote CBS! Whose with me?

I got drawn into this show on Hulu and was totally addicted. I hated being left hanging at the end though. I had never even heard of it until stumbling across it. It must have either been marketed poorly or put in the wrong time slot. It should have been promoted to lovers of shows like Twin Peaks, Buffy, American Gothic, etc.

I don’t like to be left hanging, I am still waiting to see who the killer is and what happened to some of these people, please put the remaining shows on and lets get it done. the show was weird but I liked it. Harpers Island was another good one. Come on lets get this done!!!
