this was a terrific show and extremely well written. the death of steve landesberg is a terrible, but i wish some network would make this show happen again, as it was alot of fun to watch.

Watched seasons one through three on Netflix (listed as seasons 1 & 2 on their site) and loved it. One of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. I was heartbroken when I discovered there was no season four, which lead me to this blog.

Alexandra Wentworth is a comedic genius! Loved Lola too!

I am so sad this show is cancelled. I honestly think this is the funniest comedy out there. I just turned on a bunch of my smart and funny friends to this show…we are the anti-Modern Family (not funny). I hope someone else picks up Head Case and maybe if we are lucky they will also bring back the other great cancelled show “Arrested Development”.

Like other commenters above, I just discovered this show on Netflix. I don’t have cable, so I wasn’t able to watch in real time. Sucks so much that this was cancelled. But I shouldn’t be surprised, other good shows that were witty and without laugh tracks were given the boot, too (Arrested Development, MST3K. Two of my faves but everyone can think of at least one).

I am devestated. I looked on the website and it said they were starting up again January 31st and I got so excited. I looked again to see that it was infact cancelled. Piss Poor Decision!

I guess the problem the network executives had was the show was too original and not like every other sitcom!

Network executives have a long infamous history of canceling shows that later go on to become cult hits. One of the earliest bonehead cancellations was the original Star Trek series just as our country was sending the first man to the moon! Yes, genius timing!

unbelieveable that this wonderful show was cancelled. this was edgy, full of vigor and vitality. i am very sorry to see such talented people deal with HEAD CASE being cancelled. I and many of my friends were really just getting into it. The secretary, the maintenance man, the other psychiatrist, et all were fascinating characters…I laughed the entire time. again, i repeat — unbelieveable that this show was cancelled. la

I am totally bummed to find out Head Case was canceled. I just found it on Netflix not long ago and have been addicted to it ever since.

Ali is a comic whiz, Landesberg is so dry and witty, and Michelle Arthur is a hoot as Lola. It was hilarious to see celebrity patients getting shredded by Dr Goode’s cutting remarks in every episode. Her neurotic behavior was so outrageous the celebrity patients appeared truly flabbergasted by the improvisation.

As for the person who pointed out the obvious–that ratings determine whether or not a show continues–really? You are so wise. What would all the rest of us imbeciles who like the show do without your genius?

I mean, did anyone say, “Head Case got great ratings, they shouldn’t have canceled it.”? No. All anyone has said is they enjoyed the show and wished it hadn’t been taken off the air.

But, thanks for your help, anyway….

Well Joanne.. TV execs get paid to make the right decisions, otherwise they would be out of a job. You are obviously not a TV exec, because you have absolutely no clue what the ratings of that show was. Yes i liked the show as well, but a couple (12) positive opinions about this show cannot possibly justify the expense of another season. You go ahead and cancel your 12 dollar a month Starz subscription. Hit those idiot executives where it hurts.

That is to bad, when you finally find a hillarous behavior health comedy, with good actors
they cancel the show.
That is a shame, the Starz executives need to rethink that decision or I will surely cancel Starz and pick up HBO. they have some comedies, but not as brilliant as “Headcase”

I can’t believe you cancelled this series!!!!! I’ve been looking and looking, and waiting and waiting for season four. Where do you get your information. Everyone I knew was talking about the show, and if they weren’t I talked to them about it….I laughed my ass off at every episode. I haven’t done that in a long, long, time. I guess some people don’t know a good thing when it hits them right between the eyes….This was the only series I watched on Starz. I won’t be renewing….

I loved this show! I would look forward to it every week. Alexandra and cast were always funny. I kept checking to see for when the next season would start and now REALLY disappointed that the show is canceled. Sure hope that another station picks up the show, it would be worth it for them

Still so mad, I wonder if any other channel would pick it up. I did cancel Starz and now have HBO. Still in shock…..now the originals on Starz stink! I hope Crash doesn’t MAKE IT NEXT SEASON.. I watched it only because I watched it last season…bored ,bored but watched to the end and then decided I probably won’t watch it when it comes back! Such a slow moving did I say boring storylines. We want Head Case back!!!!!! And yes watched one on demand and didn’t stop, I watched every episode that day and continues follwing it! Alexandra Wentworth is soooo worth watching. I am a big fan of Ali Wentworth. I hate to see the show cancelled, though at times the progressing raunchiness of some of the other characters’ dialogue was uncomfortable. (For example: when Dr. Goode was going on a date and got into the date’s car, then an ex-boyfriend or man she had dated previously and his date came out of the movie theater or some building and walked up to Dr. Goode’s date’s car where the date had been very gross in what he talked about and what he said since Dr. Goode first got into his car. That absolutely was not funny. — I feel that the show should have been more of Ali (Dr. Goode) and her sessions with her patients. (The character of the psychiatrist who shared her office could have been left out entirely.) For a person who’s been in therapy, on and off, for many years, I found Dr. Goode’s dialog in the therapy sessions to be hysterical. Every week I told My Partner/Spouse that I hoped all my past therapists were watching this program. I hope Ali will return in another show of her own (along with her appearances on Oprah).

Oh, I am bereft that “Head Case” won’t be back! I just happened upon it this past year and greedily devoured each episode. There were so many rip snorting, belly hurtin’, rolling on the floor and nearly peeing in my pants moments! Everyone’s reactions were sublime, superb, and brilliant! This show was intelligent, very real in a slyly shallow manner, and witty in the most brain enhancing ways. It was in the same class as “Arrested Development.” Isn’t there ANY OTHER STATION out there that might like to pick this series up (Comedy Channel, Lifetime, Bravo, HELLO?!) and add life to their fledging rosters? Don’t let this show die with a whimper! Many thanks to Alexandra Wentworth and her wonderful cast for adding so much mirth to my life.

I discovered this show via Netflix auto play and absolutely got hooked. Alexandra Wentworth is an amazing comedienne and the rest of the characters are just perfect as well. Absolutely one of the funniest shows on. Starz folks should reconsider giving this show another chance. Given more press about it, it could show up Curb Your Enthusiasm no problem.

I just discovered this show last week and I have watched all the ones available on ON DEMAND. It is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. If there is any petition I can sign so that it is shopped around to other networks, send it to me. I am so disappointed it has been cancelled. The improvisation is just great and Wentworth sounds like a lot of therapists who tell you that you are fine until you decide you don’t need them anymore and then they tell you what a sick person you are. I can’t believe I just discovered it and now it is gone.

Well, this is a very bad move. I loved this show. It’s one of the few intelligent comedies on television. You felt like you were an insider to all the jokes. All Landesberg would have to do is give a look, like Jack Benny, and it got a huge laugh in this house. His subtle humor is brilliant. It had a nice blend of brains and lunacy. What was the programming department thinking? Hopefully, they will shop this winner around to another network.

yes, i am devastated that this show was cancelled. it is absolutely the funniest show ever made. I don’t think that it got the exposure it deserved as I stumbled on it. most americans, if they knew about it, would have watched it and loved it. i cannot believe starz cancelled it. there is not another show that comes as close to being so intellectually truly funny.
