Heroes: NBC Wrap-up Movie Plans Cancelled [Report]

Heroes movieSorry, Greg Grunberg. It turns out that Ali Larter might just be right. It seems that the Heroes wrap-up movie isn’t happening.

As fans know all too well, after NBC cancelled Heroes in May, there was talk about wrapping up the TV show’s storylines as either a movie or a mini-series. Despite the fact that some time had passed, series creator Tim Kring recently indicated he was still optimistic.

He said, “It looks like we’re really going to start talking about it now. The summer months in television are always about preparing for the Fall launch of all the new shows, so I totally understand why there hasn’t been a lot of discussion [until now]. Once the Fall season is launched, I fully believe that this discussion will get reignited in a very big way.”

Now, according to EW sources, NBC isn’t going ahead with the project, at least for the 2010-11 season. However, that may not be the end of the Heroes universe. Kring believes that the show’s broad premise allows for many different stories to be told in many different ways.

What do you think? If not onscreen, how would you like to see Heroes continue — as books, comics, animation, web shorts, or in some other form?

I had seen the original previews for Heroes years ago when it was on, but with 3 young children I don’t get much time to watch TV during scheduled programming, and we don’t have a DVR. Instead, I get them on DVD or Netflix a season or so behind the times and catch up all at once–much like I do my favorite book series! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Heroes, and it was an amazingly well produced show. Yes, it’s violent at times, but the language and lack of sex all the time is just one of a million reasons I really respected the show. With so many stupid — and I mean STUPID — shows on television jam packed with sex and gratuitous gore often glorifying the bad guy (um, Dexter YUCK), it’s so incredible to find a show worth watching with characters who are basically good–even when doing not so great things at times. I was disappointed at the lack of completion for the show. I get why it was cancelled–ratings dropped steadily over the life of the show. But even the final season averaged over 5 million viewers. 5 MILLION viewers! Give the 5 million a reason to trust your network–finish a story! I say give Tim Kring his chance at his movie idea. X Files made two successful movies long after their series had ended because they had a dedicated fan base to cover it. Heroes fans are simply asking for that courtesy as well!

Like everyone else – I totally agree.

Let the die hard fans of this unique programme a conclusion.

Too many programmes end through lack of viewers – however what about the people who love it, buy all the dvd’s and watch it a few times and share their passion with their friends.
At least give an excellent programme a fitting ending – or continue in a different format so people can stil continue to enjoy it.

A film / mini series would be greatly appreciated. Give veiwers hope and belief that our opinions matter.
Too many good series are withdrawn, especially leaving people on a cliff hanger……

I would like to see the Heros TV Show continued!

I am disappointed that Heros was canceled and hope very much to see the show return with the same characters to at least give us a better going away series — I mean come on what happens next you can not just leave us hanging :(

Were the specials ever accepted?
Sylar finally becomes a Hero – does he stick to it?
Sylar has to have Hiro go back to save Peters Brother Nathan! Right?
just to name a few*

Come on NBC don’t do this to us – we need to know :</
We gotta have Heros back!

Just watched the ending of heroes and it is great. However, there should be a proper ending. Please just bring back the series or make a movie. Do something to give it a proper ending.

Diddo!! Don’t put on Netflix (etc) when you didn’t respect it enough to give it a proper burial…

just watched the final episode with my Husband and we are furious that there was no finale. You have got to be kidding NBC, leave us hanging with no closure. This is why I don’t bother watching new series, because these networks continue to end shows without a proper finish. 4 years, running, and you couldn’t give us one movie that provided a proper ending to an awesome show. Makes me want to boycott NBC!! That includes my Husband and others I know.

OMFG! I can’t believe this! My brother in-law got me started on ‘Heroes’ and I fell in love with it. Now my husband and I just finished the final episode and it just pissed us off. There is no closure to the series. I just wish that they would take some of this crap off of the tv and put the show back on. I mean seriously how many episodes do you really have to show that involves getting lost from a plane crash? Just put some closure to the ‘Heroes’ series and make the veiwers of this awesome show happy so we can move on. We can’t move on without knowing the ending to all of the people that was on the show.
(the husband) im beyond irritated that i finally found a show, other than burn notice, worth watching. make a straight to dvd movie series finishing this journey we all would love to come back to. shoot, i would even pay 20 dollars just to see an extended movie for HEROES at the theater, if it comes to it (btw thats twice normal ticket price out here). i dont want it to end, but the least you could do is give us just that…. an ending.

Absolutely loved Heroes! Bought all 4 seasons on DVD. Due to the large number of cast members, and the need to wrap up so many story lines, I think they should do it with a miniseries or a 2 or 3 part movie! NBC & Universal owe it to the fans who put up with their crap all the time, starting good shows then cancelling them if ratings come down to normal levels. Meanwhile they continue to through money at other network garbage that nobody watched in the first place. Please do the show justice and give it a proper ending.
