Hostages: Was the Finale a Satisfying Ending?

Hostages last episodesTonight marks the end of Hostages on CBS. Though the “limited series” has not been officially cancelled, the ratings have been so poor that there’s just no way that they’re going to bring it back for a second season.

On the two final episodes — titled “Suspicious Minds” and “Endgame” — Duncan (Dylan McDermott) discovers Sandrine’s (Sandrine Holt) betrayal and decides to use her to save Nina (Francie Swift) and Sawyer (Lola Cook). Before Ellen (Toni Collette) operates on President Kincaid (James Naughton), the First Lady (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) confronts her and forces Ellen to tell the truth about the assassination plot.

What do you think? If you’ve seen the finale, was it a satisfying ending to the series? Do you think they could have realistically made another season — either with some of the same characters or, with completely new ones? Would you have watched?

Loved the show and have been watching it from the beginning. Great actors and great plot story. The season finale was great but I agree that there should be another season with more plots, what happens to Duncan, President, Dr Ellen, etc. Please bring it back it is a great show packed with action, love, and mystery; much more exciting than those realities show out there.

I loved this show; it was addictive and the suspense was amazing; even the people who say they didn’t liked it must have watched otherwise they wouldn’t have an opinion! I would love to see the series renewed Dylan and Toni are great together!

I hate that Duncan turned himself in.. I loved his character.. But yes, I think it ended great. One show that was satisfying enough to not have to come back on the air. This one didn’t leave you hanging.. Except for Logan.. He should have died :)

I was sad to see Deception cancelled. Hostages was exciting best actors ! Nice to have different shows that keep u on your toes. Sad when they cancel them. Sick of all the typical cop shows. Please bring it back.

Bring it back …. Such a good finale but so much more could be made by another series. Best show I’ve seen in a long time and I’m a tv buff. Favorite show sad to see it end. Hope it doesn’t.

Terrific actors, sound writing, stagnant storyline. Keep the show but make some changes. End each show in the hour but continue a thread throughout without prolonging that ONE single incident week after week. It’s cheap. This show can be saved.. Hope it continues in a new format but with same actors.

    good luck

Totally glad it is over. Watched every episode, but it got bogged down in parts. Toni Collette looked like a deer in the headlights most of the time. Reminded me of Shelly Duval in The Shining. Glad it has been cancelled.

Enjoyed the two hour finale. Bring it back in another form/night. Still more story/loose ends to be told and or tied up.Excellent cast and acting.

I did want to see what happens next, so I won’t say the show was all that bad. I am glad it is over. The ending was ok. I wondered if they would ever show the dog again. lol

I was hooked right from the beginning. I was satisfied with the season finale, but if they should bring it back, I agree that it would have to be with a whole new cast of characters. I would love to see Dylan McDermott return, although I would miss the whole cast. They were terrific. I don’t understand how this show had low ratings. Unfortunately, Hostages was pitted against two other great shows……Castle and The Black List.
