TV Land has decided to end their signature original sitcom Hot in Cleveland. The current sixth season will be the end for the comedy.
Hot in Cleveland continues to follow the lives of three middle-age ladies from Los Angeles — writer Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), beautician Joy Scoggs (Jane Leeves), and actress Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick). When their flight to Paris makes an emergency landing in Cleveland, Ohio, they discover a community that’s less shallow and youth-obsessed. They move there and lease a home with a sassy caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (Betty White).
The ratings for Hot in Cleveland have come way down over the years. The first season averaged more than three million viewers each week. The fifth season drew about 950,000 viewers and the first few episodes of the current sixth season have averaged 710,000.
Of the decision, TV Land president Larry W. Jones said, “It’s been an honor to work with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparable Betty White as well as our executive producers Suzanne Martin, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and the rest of our exceptional writers, production team and crew. The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past five years has put TV Land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming. We will continue to celebrate the show and are looking forward to a fantastic series finale.”
On the positive side, there will be 128 episodes by the end, plenty of episodes to keep Hot in Cleveland airing in syndication for years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a seventh season of Hot in Cleveland or, is it ending at a good time?
I love the show been watching it since it came on please let it be another season seven sometime there is nothing else to watch love those crazy women please reconsider love TV land but me and my husband record so when he comes home from work we both wa th it and we love it so please keep it going
I’m so shocked to hear this show is being cancelled There are not too many shows lime this one! A Delightful. Show t of truly talented cast of ladies. Please reconsider cancelling this show these ladies are rare gem on television I’m going to really miss this show!
I am vey upset you would cancel such a feel good show. There is so much bad in this world, it was heaven sent to be able to escape for a half hour. I do not watch much tv but have watched Hot in Cleveland and the Exes since their debut. I will purge your network from my viewing. People invest time in your sitcoms, then just because viewing is down a bit you yank the show. You hav e no interest in your viewing community. I have ceased watching other networks for their lack of responsibility to their veiwing… Read more »
Very sorry to see it end! Betty White is still sizzling!
How sad! This is by far the funniest show on television. It is right up there with Will and Grace; Everybody Love’s Raymond and though a different format, The Carol Burnett Show. I hope they will reconsider. Betty White is phenomenal! No, no, no. Go for season 7.
Please reconsider and let the show go on. I am very disappointed that this is there last season.
Why do all the really good shows get canceled? This is one you should keep!
I am sad to see the show ending. It has been great entertainment for me at age 58. I definitely will be watching the show in syndication. Thanks ladies for all you gave and will give this next sixth season.
I’m not happy about losing Hot in Cleveland. My husband and I love watching it every day. Best humor we’ve seen since Archie Bunker.
I am disappointed to see the show end, but it is good that we have six seasons to watch on DVD or the episodes to come in syndication. Thanks so, so much for all of your companionship to me. I am 58 years old and have enjoyed every episode. It was literally like having four good friends. Betty White was the icing on a very wonderful cake. So goodbye my tv friends. I will look forward to seeing you on television in the future. Can’t keep strong ladies down.
Sincerely,
Susan Lannon
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THE SHOW. I AM 57 AND I LOVE THE SHOW.
As a Canadian who loves this show, it’s been frustrating trying to watch Hot in Cleveland. We have no access to TV Land. We have to watch it on a Canadian network 6-12 months behind schedule. Season five was interrupted halfway through and still hasn’t been aired in Canada. The remaining episodes for season five are nowhere in sight. So while I’m very sorry that this show is ending, for Canadian fans, the broadcast of half of season five and all of season six is so far behind, it seems as if it will never end!
Please don’t cancel the show. Funniest slow on TV
I love this show! It’s a riot! I even watch it with my two oldest kids and they love it, too! The casting is perfect. The guests are amazing. The jokes are hilarious. I can’t believe they’re ending it! We DVR every episode. We never miss one! I don’t want it to end! This is terrible news!
Nooooooo. Please don’t cancel it. I love this show. I’ve been a fan since day 1. These ladies are perfect together. Do whatever it takes to keep this one going.
I love this show. It’s a great comedy. So, so sick of these reality shows that are taking over. cancel those.
This decision of to cancel is terrible! We finally have folks that makes us laugh! If Ms. Betty White needs to take a break, let her but keep the show going!!
