TV Land has decided to end their signature original sitcom Hot in Cleveland. The current sixth season will be the end for the comedy.
Hot in Cleveland continues to follow the lives of three middle-age ladies from Los Angeles — writer Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), beautician Joy Scoggs (Jane Leeves), and actress Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick). When their flight to Paris makes an emergency landing in Cleveland, Ohio, they discover a community that’s less shallow and youth-obsessed. They move there and lease a home with a sassy caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (Betty White).
The ratings for Hot in Cleveland have come way down over the years. The first season averaged more than three million viewers each week. The fifth season drew about 950,000 viewers and the first few episodes of the current sixth season have averaged 710,000.
Of the decision, TV Land president Larry W. Jones said, “It’s been an honor to work with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparable Betty White as well as our executive producers Suzanne Martin, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and the rest of our exceptional writers, production team and crew. The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past five years has put TV Land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming. We will continue to celebrate the show and are looking forward to a fantastic series finale.”
On the positive side, there will be 128 episodes by the end, plenty of episodes to keep Hot in Cleveland airing in syndication for years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a seventh season of Hot in Cleveland or, is it ending at a good time?
over 70 million viewers and its comming to an end thats sad great shows are hard to come by guys reconsider
I guess my comment about not liking the finale didn’t pass inspection a.d wasn’t allowed on here
Oops , there it is
I am watching the final show and it is SO boring. It is ending like all the other sit com’s. Everyone finally getting what they always wanted, but before they get it we have to see a bunch of senseless other things. Like almost all of them getting arrested for stupid things. Stealing.g a taxi cab etc. The weddings, yuck. Not sure if I can watch the rest it’s so bad.
What happened the last show was supposed to be on from 10pm _11:30 .,,,it ended at 11pm where did the last half hour go…….seriously it was a terrible show with no endings and no goodbyes
What a kick in the ass. Soul Man makes a mockery of God, but that’s renewed, Just watching the ads for Younger make me sick. And now the new one impastor, that leads off with a moron saying ” I don’t believe in God”, will be making a debut. Is Satan the founder of TV Land, because I have had that channel taken off my TV package, Yes, I will watch the last Hot in Cleveland, then TV land can go to satan, because it will not be on my TV. Big mistake, real big mistake. Numbers, shove your numbers… Read more »
I agree
I’m so sorry to see this show end. I watch it every week. I love ALL the ladies. The are all so funny and I’m going to miss this show very much. I Hope you change your mind, there are people who have watched since the beginning like me!!
think it would have done a lot better if it had been on a little earlier. for people that have to work 10pm is a little late. Loved the shows I was able to see, hate to see it go.
Wtf common my favorite show, I need season . My life savior so don’t mess with me.
I am very sorry to see Hot in Cleveland go. These ladies have such great chemistry and are so funny, they have helped me laugh through some tough times. I can’t get enough of these shows and the comments between Joy and Elka and now that Joy has finally found love!!
Just one more season pre-release!!
Are You crazy? Best writing on comedy tv. Having special guest every week was fantastic! Any chance of reconsidering?
Very sorry to see it end. I don’t think they should base a decision on the number of people watching the first airing of a new episode. The decision makers should take into consideration that people watch new episodes on OnDemand with Comcast or the numerous rebroadcasts during the week. Oh, and I agree with Gigi, GET RID OF THE REALITY SHOWS, no talent there!
Truly laugh out loud comedy. I can’t believe it’s being cancelled!!!!!!!
I am truly upset that Hot in Cleveland will not be making a 7th season. I love this show and I adore each of the 4 ladies that worked so hard to get this far. Hopefully, maybe they will make a spin-off? If they do I will watch every single episode. I cried for awhile when I found out the show would be ending. I will be watching the last episode and I will most certainly cry. I want to give a shout out to Jane Leeves. Thank you for being an inspiration to me your character Joy made me… Read more »
I love this show and find it hard to believe it is ending with such great chemistry between all involved. We need more shows about middle aged real people. Get rid of crappy realty shows & give us more comedy sitcoms!!!!!. Where will I see Betty White??????????????????Love to you all, GiGi
It’s sad because I never watched the first 4 episodes until the reruns and then I watched every week. It was a fun series and we all could relate. I will be 70 in September and I thought it was funny. Damn funny:)
Smiles &Happy Thoughts….Rocksie Ann
I’m sorry to see it go. It is one of the few comedies that actually make me laugh.
