House of Payne: Are Friday’s the Last Episodes? [spoiler]

House of Payne last episodeIn one of last Friday’s episodes of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, titled “God Bless the Paynes,” Calvin (Lance Gross) was shot by the man who’d earlier harassed Miranda (Keshia Knight Pulliam). He’s rushed to the hospital but his fate is unknown.

We’ve received a few emails from readers who believe that next week’s episodes will be the end of the series and the death of Calvin. While House of Payne has been “cancelled,” there are a lot more episodes still to come.

In April 2011, TBS announced that they were ending the venerable sitcom, in part to make way for Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse. At that time, we understood the final episode total for House of Payne to be 220 installments.

In late September, Perry posted on his Facebook page that TBS had ordered 42 more episodes. In December, the cast and crew had a wrap party that celebrated the completion of 254 episodes. It’s unclear if they’ll be going back into production now that the holidays are over but, based on the numbers we have, it seems like they still have at least eight more installments to make.

In the meantime, we do know that this Friday’s episodes of House of Payne aren’t the last. Two new episodes will air each Friday night for the next six weeks. Episodes 223 and 224 will air on February 17th and that will leave about 30 episodes left in the series.

In the meantime, you should know that Calvin does not die from his gunshot wounds. He lives and, at least in the next couple episodes, has to worry about paying his hospital bills because he doesn’t have insurance.

What do you think? Are you a fan of House of Payne? Are you glad to know there are more episodes on the way?

I love House of Payne and Meet the Browns. My family and I and mostly all my friends don’t miss an episode! These shows are funny, are all about family life, which is something this world definitely needs!! Please reconsider cancelling either one of these great shows, we so look forward to watching every episode of both of them. They make you laugh and take so much stress off of us. These two shows are SO MUCH better than “For Better or Worse”.

I LOVE THE SHOW, AND I ENJOY WHAT EACH CAST MEMBER BRINGS TO THE SHOW. IT IS AS ONE VIEWER (PATTI RAIRDEN), STATED QOUTE: ” Why cancel 2 fantastic heart warming shows? Meet the Browns and House of Payne. My family loves this show from 6 to 58 yrs old or young.. Intelligent warm respectable families are few and far between on television I am very disappointed in these cancellations. The stories could have broadened with the inclusion of different people of all colors how each fits into the neighborhood, church and school life. I am very sorry to see these shows fall by the wayside. The USA needs more family viewing not less.” UNQOUTE. I AGREE WITH YOU PATTY. THANKS FOR LISTENING.

Please continue Meet the Browns and house of payne. They are both great shows that i do not mind my children and grandchildren watching. All of the main characters are funny without being utterly distasteful. Ms Ella is wonderful! Please don’t take them off the air simply to put “For Better or Worse” on. That would not be the best of ideas.

I really enjoy watching Meet The Browns and House of Payne. I am sick of the judge shows, CSI, NCSI, and the rest of the bloody shows and movies. I can look at the local news, national new, news break just to name a few. I enjoy laughing and they make me laugh. May its that I do not understand taking lives and people making a fool of themselves in court!

I really enjoy both Mrrt the Browns and House of Payne. I am sick and tired of the judge shows, CIS, NCIS and bloody shows. I can look at Local News, Dateline, World News and the rest if I want to see that. These are really the only two Black shows left on regular TV. Or is it ME ?

It truly saddens me that the show is coming to an end. Each evening I would rush home from work to watch the show on WHPL-17 at 5:30 pm Eastern time. The show was truly entertaining as well as humorous, heartwarming and fun. I really looked forward in watching the show. The characters after a period of time sort of come to life in a sense. There is an Auntie Ella and an Uncle Curtis in every family I believe. The characters are wonderful and they make you feel like you’re watching family experiencing life in a way we all have at some point. I’ll truly miss this show. Hope Cousin Calvin survives his gunshot wounds as the writer stated. I saw the episode on July 27, 2012 and it broke my heart to say the least. And of course I know the character(s) is not real but I’ve grown to love the story that much.

I enjoy the show. The morals depicted are a blessing to air waves that are otherwise perverted by other promiscuoius sitcoms.

I just semi-watched an episode of this on My TV and was wondering if it was the last one or what was going on. The information on it says the family went to their neighborhood church and mentioned something about the family giving their farewells, but not who they were saying farewell to! It seemed like a long bunch of sad stories popping up, I guess from past episodes like no real plot to this thing, so I ignored it and played on my computer instead, which faces the other way from the TV. Then when I looked back for a glance at if anything is happening yet, there was a guy alone, who seemed to have been shot, and that was the end of it. No announcement the show is over or anything. I guess that is the one you are talking about here.

I agree. It would be nice if TBS as well as WPHL-17 would reconsider and allow the shows to continue.

Sooo true. Mr. Perry, please listen to those of us who need the family laughter in the real situations of family life in these two shows. There are so many more great story lines to keep these shows going with great, clean, enjoyable and family oriented laughter and entertainment.
