Television’s First Ever Competitive Tattoo Show Will Return With 13 New Episodes

New York, NY, February 13, 2012 – Spike TV has picked up a second season of 13 episodes of “Ink Master,” the network’s highly-rated original non-scripted series. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.

“Ink Master,” hosted by music legend and tattoo aficionado Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and judged by renown tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo), is the latest original series that aims at broadening Spike’s audience. Through the first four episodes of “Ink Master’s” premiere season (launched Tuesday, January 17 at 10 PM, ET/PT), the series is averaging a robust 1.5 million viewers in its Tuesday night timeslot and 5.2 million total viewers per week including repeat telecasts. The show has dramatically broadened the audience in its timeslot, posting a +106% increase with Men 18-49 and +100% with Persons 18-49 compared to last year. The network has found similar success recently with originals “Auction Hunters,” “Bar Rescue,” and “Flip Men.”

“Ink Master” showcases ten of the nation’s top tattoo artists from around the country who battle it out in permanent ink for a $100,000 cash prize, an editorial feature in the preeminent tattoo magazine Inked, and the title of ‘Ink Master.’ The tension and stakes are high as contestants compete in various tattoo challenges that not only test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo on command. Challenges focus on different tattooing techniques, such as shading, line and proportion, and styles including photorealism, Tribal, American traditional, and pin-up.

Details for production and air dates for season two will be announced shortly. Season two’s episode order of 13 is an increase over season one, which consists of eight episodes.

“Ink Master” is produced for Spike by Original Media, with Charlie Corwin, Jay Peterson, and Andrea Richter as Executive Producers of the series. Original Media currently has fifteen television series on air including the hit shows “NY Ink,” “LA Ink,” “The Rachel Zoe Project,” “Swamp People,” “Storm Chasers,” “Dual Survival” and “Mudcats.” Headquartered in New York, Original Media is a subsidiary of Endemol USA.

Sharon Levy is Spike TV’s Executive Vice President, Original Series and Chris Rantamaki oversees production of “Ink Master” and is Vice President of Original Programming for Spike TV.

I am from CT, got my first tattoo in SLC by Vinnie Almanza @ Rebirth Tattoo in Salt Lake City while I was in Utah on business this past July. I will fly back out in January, just for Vinnie to do my next one! I will not go anywhere else. The quality of his work is top notch! The shop is immaculate. Vinnies professionalism stands alone!

Vinnie Almanza of Rebirth Tattoo by Vinnie in Alaska and Utah is a completely phenomenal artist. He has done awesome pieces for both my husband and myself, including an awesome coverup. He would be such an asset to the 2nd season of the show, which is great. We’d love to see his art on your show!

Pick Vinnie Almanza as an artist! He is amazing and completely dedicated to the craft. He is currently doing a sleeve for me and it is spectacular. He will be a great addition to the show. He owns Rebith tattoo by Vinnie in Anchorage and in Utah.

Vinnie Almanza hands down does fantastic work. The guy even worked with me adjusting his schedule to do my tat because I’m so fair skinned. Vinnie knows this form of art very well. This guy worked with me over a couple days just to complete my tattoo where as most I found was a one shot wonder, show up and what happens happens. He cares about his clients but in a matter of you feel welcome and very very comfortable.

I had a blank canvas when I walked into Rebirth in July. Vinnie made me feel comfortable and at ease. I knew what I wanted, a tribute to a friend suffering from cancer. All of my girlfriends have the same tattoo, we just got them done at different places. All of the girls say my tattoo is nicest. Vinnie talked me through everything he was doing, since I was nervous and apprehensive. I mean who in their right mind waits until they are 40 for their first tattoo like I did? LOL, anyway, it’s true what they say, once you get one, you will get more. If you want work done, I suggest you make an appointment way in advance. I didn’t get in my last trip out there this past week, but I plan to visit SLC again in January, and hope Vinnie has a slot open to fit me in.

Its not just vinnies crew my wife and I have been customers of vinnies for years. I began with a different artist and now vinnie is correcting my mistake of not going to him to begin with. We have always been happy with his work as well as our coworkers, family, and friends Vinnie would make a great participant on the show.

So I rephrase my statement then. Looks like all of Vinnies groupies logged on for this one. sorry ladies no offense, i’m just playing. nothing against vinnie but I think my boy has what it takes to win ink masters. He may only have seven years under his belt, but he has surpassed many of the artists I have seen getting recognition so far. Soo, good luck to both. It would be awesome to see the vinnie, B dell showdown. Thanks for playing. Peace and Toast!
