CBS kept Hostages on the air even though it became obvious that it was doomed to be cancelled after one season. How has Intelligence fared? Will it suffer the same fate or will it be renewed for a second season instead?
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Josh Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
Debuting on a Tuesday night in January, sandwiched between NCIS and Person of Interest, Intelligence’s first episode drew a very healthy 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.49 million viewers.
Unfortunately, most of those viewers didn’t return for the second episode the following Monday. That attracted just a 1.2 in the demo with 6.2 million, a decline of more than 50%.
The numbers have risen and fallen since then but have generally been moving downward. Last week’s episode tied a series low in the demo and hit a new low in viewership. Looking at the averages, it’s also the lowest-rated show currently on the network (aside from Saturday night’s 48 Hours).
Like Hostages before it, it’s clear that Intelligence won’t be back for a second season. The ratings are just too low. CBS recently renewed most of their primetime shows for next season. Intelligence was one of the few that were missing from that list.
At this point, we can hope that the producers finished the 13 episodes in a satisfying way.
But, what do you think? Do you like Intelligence? If you were running the network, would you renew it or cancel it to make way for something else?
Think it is a great show with a lot of potential for growth. It debuted strong but the move to Monday night at 10 pm hurt it. Viewers may not known when it was on the schedule. Also, CBS could have promoted it a little more. It has some known actors, an interesting concept, and some humor and action built into every episode. Hoping it gets a second season to continue to gain a bigger audience. Have heard lots of people say they dvr it to watch later so there is some interest in it. Feels like it is slowly… Read more »
Well, considering how many midseason shows they canceled before, I say to be canceled.
Yes l would renew it also very good show.l like to this show as well so don’t cancel it either
It’s an alright show, not the greatest thing in the world but it’s not too bad. I don’t think I’ll miss if it goes but at least it was something decent to watch.
I hope they bring this show back for a 2nd series. I think it has a lot of potential.
Please renew “Intelligence”!!! We all love it!!!!
Intelligence is a good show i would renew it. this last episode Ep. 12 had me excited for the next i cant believe CBS would think of cancelling this show they should try moving it to a different night first. this has a good cast better than a lot of shows on TV
I like the show. I thought it has steadily improved. If it’s cancelled, I hope it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. It’s unfair to its viewers.
Be serious. This is a good show. Tweak it a bit. Put some more person background info, like Riley ‘s teen problems and what happened. Add a little more excitement with personal interest.
You want to cancel something get rid those idiotic reality shows. They all stink and insult our “intelligence”.
One of my favorite programs. Do no cancel this. It is intriguing and makes one think.
I love Intelligence. If we cannot watch it, we always tape it for later. I hope it is not cancelled.
First couple of episodes weren’t great, but the writing improved and it got much more interesting. Usually if I like a show it’s doomed. Guess my luck strikes again!
I enjoy the show alot. I really hope it comes back
I already stated I did not like this show. I stopped watching it after the first episode. Intelligence was a derivative series, see Jake 2 and Chuck. Both of those shows had the same plot: a human gets linked with a computer, but both shows were entirely different in concept. Intelligence was derivative, and boring. I will miss Marg Helgenberger.
I like Intelligence, and I would renew it, and maybe ask the show runners to do some tinkering to make it more appealable to folks.
