CBS kept Hostages on the air even though it became obvious that it was doomed to be cancelled after one season. How has Intelligence fared? Will it suffer the same fate or will it be renewed for a second season instead?
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Josh Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
Debuting on a Tuesday night in January, sandwiched between NCIS and Person of Interest, Intelligence’s first episode drew a very healthy 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.49 million viewers.
Unfortunately, most of those viewers didn’t return for the second episode the following Monday. That attracted just a 1.2 in the demo with 6.2 million, a decline of more than 50%.
The numbers have risen and fallen since then but have generally been moving downward. Last week’s episode tied a series low in the demo and hit a new low in viewership. Looking at the averages, it’s also the lowest-rated show currently on the network (aside from Saturday night’s 48 Hours).
Like Hostages before it, it’s clear that Intelligence won’t be back for a second season. The ratings are just too low. CBS recently renewed most of their primetime shows for next season. Intelligence was one of the few that were missing from that list.
At this point, we can hope that the producers finished the 13 episodes in a satisfying way.
But, what do you think? Do you like Intelligence? If you were running the network, would you renew it or cancel it to make way for something else?
Please Cancel Intelligence. Quickly
The technology was out of date when the show launched. Other shows do a better job of integrating technology into the plotline without killing the human part of the story.
CBS….Please forgive Dr. Helter, at who’s expertise with technology I can only marvel at….. “Intelligence” is innovative, has great special effects for network TV and is just plain fun to watch. So, while I stand up from bowing at the feet of the aforementioned Dr. Helter (I wonder if he has a chip in HIS head?), at whose technologically-advanced feet I bow, please RENEW “Intelligence”…..quickly…
I love this show, though i watched this show from internet streaming plz renew it. Much better than almost human
It’s a good show. Writing is predictable. But, it just needs time to settle in a time slot. Networks need to give good shows a little time to catch on.
I DVR every show we watch. Sometimes it takes a while to learn about a show and record it.
Hope it will renew, it’s family entertainment with some fun stuff in it.
I like this show. It s much better than Almost Human, and that s coming back I hear. I know it s on anther network but I think Intelligence is a much better show. Give it another season please.
Plz, plz, plz keep it!!!! Great writing, great characters. Find an earlier timeslot. Love the suggestion of showing before Elementary. Would never leave my recliner on Thursday night if that was the line-up.
There is a huge deficit of good, intelligent tv shows. Plz renew!!!!!
P.S. Gabriel and Riley are hot, hot, hot. I’d like to have my own “cyber-render” with Gabriel.
PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT cancel this show! It is my favorite. All the new shows came on all at once and their time slots moved around like a game of checkers. Really aggravating. Please give it a chance to get known and build its base. Each week, as it is right now, we never know whether the shows we watch are going to be in their own time slots or not. Not too much fun… and you are talking about canceling “Intelligence” ?! NO, NO, NO!!!!!!
??????????? please explain what you mean by “awaiting moderation”
Bad time slot. It is going against well established CASTLE and James Spader.
Put it on Thursdays right before elementary or Fridays befor Hawaii five-0
Please give intelligence a second season its an awesome show
I love this show! I really hope it comes back for a second season.
This show should not be cancelled because of its time slot. A fantastic show that deserves a chance to build its viewership. It is one of the best shows on right now. I like NCIS and Person of Interest too and they shouldn’t have to compete against one another.
Such a stupid idea- (i can access the internet on my phone – doesn’t make me a superhero), I’m happy to see the show crash
Can you also access all the other phones, their records, have all the data from government, hack almost everything digital and kick ass with your phone?
Sure! you and I and everyone can. .. the computer that you do all this heavy digital hacker stuff can be anywhere in the cloud with current technology! the phone is the access point The story line is just so dumb!
i’d really hope that Intelligence is given a second chance to survive its audience. I really liked the tech-orientedness of this show plus the actions of course – it’s quite up-to-date with today’s technology stuffs we’re used to. I think it deserves another chance, please renew.
This show is fantastic! My new favorite… Sure its just getting starting, but the cast already works so well together and I think the premise is imaginative and creative while remaining believable. Wish it would stay on the air. There r just so many stupid shows on TV now and then there’s this great show that is sharing a time slot with 2 heavy hitters. I just wish Intelligence could have another season so its fan base could build

This is a great show! Please please bring it back! Each episode is great, different endings, etc. Hostages was ok, but had to come to an end; Intelligence does NOT have to end.
