CBS kept Hostages on the air even though it became obvious that it was doomed to be cancelled after one season. How has Intelligence fared? Will it suffer the same fate or will it be renewed for a second season instead?
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Josh Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
Debuting on a Tuesday night in January, sandwiched between NCIS and Person of Interest, Intelligence’s first episode drew a very healthy 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.49 million viewers.
Unfortunately, most of those viewers didn’t return for the second episode the following Monday. That attracted just a 1.2 in the demo with 6.2 million, a decline of more than 50%.
The numbers have risen and fallen since then but have generally been moving downward. Last week’s episode tied a series low in the demo and hit a new low in viewership. Looking at the averages, it’s also the lowest-rated show currently on the network (aside from Saturday night’s 48 Hours).
Like Hostages before it, it’s clear that Intelligence won’t be back for a second season. The ratings are just too low. CBS recently renewed most of their primetime shows for next season. Intelligence was one of the few that were missing from that list.
At this point, we can hope that the producers finished the 13 episodes in a satisfying way.
But, what do you think? Do you like Intelligence? If you were running the network, would you renew it or cancel it to make way for something else?
I agree–we love “Intelligence”! Josh Holloway is good and so is the rest of the cast. We tape it, so we can watch it at a convenient time. Does that affect the ratings? Some shows are so stupid, but the networks keep them on ad nauseum! Then they cancel good ones like “Intelligence”! Makes no sense.
keep intelligence!!!! maybe CBS doesn’t have any?
What is wrong with the networks? They spend all kinds of money, make people adjust their lives, get their hopes up and then you shoot them in the foot by putting them up against other big hitters! Put it on at 9:00 or on Saturday night. Anyone staying home weekends knows there is NOTHING good on Saturday night! The chemistry between the characters is just beginning and POOF! they’re gone? Either this is how you play the network ratings game or you are paying those people in the Ivory Towers too much money and it’s clouding the way they think!… Read more »
Greatly DISSAPOINTED to hear of Intelligence’s probable discontinuance. Everything we watch is recorded. Maybe that adds to the poor ratings. The show also comes on the same time as two other shows we record. Since we can record only two shows at a time we are able to go back a day later and pick it up and watch it. We have not missed an episode. Again, very disappointed it will not return.
I AM DISAPPOINT AT CBS COME ON WE NEED TO LET CBS KNOW WE STILL LOVE THE SHOW INTELLIGENCE, GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG DISAPPOINT THE GETING MAD …..
IF CBS CANCEL INTELLIGENCE I AM WALKING A WAY AND NEVER WITCH ANY SHOW THAT CBS AIR, RENEWAL ARE LOSE ME AS A VIEWER. YOU CAN CANCEL HOSTAGE AND KEEP INTELLIGENCE.
The show should be renewed. CBS’ mistake was to put it opposite Castle. That show is entrenched; in fact, it is my favorite at the moment and is in it’s sixth season. I have to catch Intelligence online the next day. It would do well on nearly any other night of the week.
love the show just needs more of a chance and off Monday night. Too hard to compet with Blacklist and Castle. Thursday or Friday has better chance. More romance which I think can bring in better or larger audience. Use more twists in story which it seems to be going. Much like 23 or Scandals tries to use.
Intelligence is a great show with an awesome cast and that works well. As CBS “sandwiched” the show “between NCIS and Person of Interest” which are both long running shows and carry plenty of viewers I feel this was a tactic that failed. The nation of viewers for these show will return as they have a foothold on TV. Monday’s have to much for a new show to compete with and will need some form of assistance to allow it to flourish into it’s own. I was hoping this would return for season 2, it’s a great concept a great… Read more »
I think Intelligence is the best new show of the season. It should be renewed and deserves another chance.
Right Judy! I love the show, I hope it gets renewed for season 2 🙂
nice show…pls keep it cos its really got potential. may be a change frm Monday will help.. don’t cancel it
I love this show. Maybe switching airtime from Monday night to another day. Also I agree March madness was huge factor in low ratings. Most people that watch the game’s r the main demographic target. Be smarter than a fifth grader. Keep this show
Please renew intelligence, it deserves support and a new life! paul
STUPID I SAY IF THEY CANCEL THIS AMAZING SHOW.
Well, it was CBS’ fault that the ratings dropped! Why did they move that to Monday nights? and right after the pilot as well????
Monday nights have got other amazing shows which have been running longer than Intelligence! Like Castle & Blacklist! CBS should know that right? UGH.
Intelligence is a NEW SHOW for God’s sake. They should keep it on Tuesday nights!
I see lots of potentials for this show. SHAME ON CBS if they cancel it.
HAY IF CBS CANCELS INTELLIGENCE ARE YOU WITH ME A BOUT WALKING A WAY AND NOT WITCH A SHOW FOR A WEEK OR SO, BECAUSE I AM SICK OF AMAZING SHOW GET CANCEL BECAUSE OF CBS MAKE A BAD CHOSE BY PUT INTELLIGENCE ON MONDAY AND NOT KEEPING INTELLIGENCE ON TUESDAY.
Please dont cancel. Move it back to tuesdays. Episodes got better as season went on. Was hoping to find out what happened after the last season!!
