I came across this show after recently watching the movie, Letters to Juliet, where I fell in love with actor, Chris Egan. I searched his filmography and found Kings as one of the tv shows he starred in. I found the season on Hulu and became ADDICTED. I watched the whole season in one day, even though it was a school night. The show was absolutely phenomonal! I loved the story line, the plot, the characters, the romance between Shepard and the princess, basically everything. I’m not in any way familiar with the story of David an Goliag, but the way the show was put together was really interesting. Not only was the story amazing, the acting was superb as well. I was quite disappointed with the finale because it wasn’t a clean ending. It was left at a cliff hanger and I truly hope that the show will be brought back, so the fans can see how it ends. I still have so many questions and I hope that they won’t be left unanswered.

Its despicable how the networks shut this truly groundbreaking series down..if anything, it gives true insight and detaches itself completely from the mundane slobbery of shows we see today on television. They need to bring this show back, or another network needs to pick it up…especially today, people really need to watch this show not just for the great dialogue, special effects, and character development…but its about understanding whats really going on in the world around us.

I just discovered this show on Hulu and must say it wakes me up from the regurgitated tv drivel! I stopped really watching real tv almost three years ago now, and really didn’t miss it. However, I think this show, IF they continue it, would be worth going back for. I believe I saw maybe one advertisement for it before it came out, but that was it; so honestly, I think it was NBC’s fault for not putting the ‘umph’ marketing and correct timing behind it to make it a really great turn-out. Try again with season 2 please! And don’t forget to post it to Hulu for us 18-30, techie crowds!

This is an amazing show. I hated that it was moved to Saturdays because I did not have the time to watch it. So every Sunday I would watch the show online. It should have been placed at a better time slot. I think we should send a letter/email to NBC or all other networks. Send a picture of KINGS FLAG and type SAVE KINGS. If we all do this “together mountains can move”. Let’s all spread the swarm of butterflies.

An amazing show, with a great story. Not many TV shows have that much plot to write about yet they stay on for 5+ seasons. Even though marketing may have been horrible and never advertised to religious audiences, I believe that could be changed. This is one of very few shows I would make sure I was available to watch when on TV, or watch again on nbc.com.

I am disappointed how bad the marketing was and nbc’s decision to cancel it, even worse by putting it in a sunday or saturday slot, which is sure to be an end to it.

They need to get rid of the reality garbage and every other show about certain jobs here in America, such as doctors, police, lawyers, and nurses. I would bet anything that you’d never see a show about a manufacturer worker and his/her life. It’s all the same with a different setting, the same plot, and different characters (sometimes the same).

This is typical of NBC. They finally have a hit series and they decide to pull it.
If they did not charge so much for commercials ads, they could do with fewer viewers, but this is not about the # of viewers, rather the decision makers who would not know a hit if they saw one. They have not really given it a good chance because, as I remember it, they put it in on the off -season, so what did they expect. They finally got a hit or close to it in place of that GARBAGE, Apprentice, the REALITY “CRAP”, etc., and they did not know what to do with it. I hope some other network, who can reconize a hit when they see one, picks up the series!

NBC is pulling some more Star Trek’s lately. First they change the name of the SciFi channel and now they aren’t showing the best of their programs, namely Kings. They must be deficient in the “smarts” department, because they only seem to see the dollar line rather than the artistic lines.

Can we change their minds? I doubt it. They are stupid.

I got into Kings late. First I was in to House, then Heros, now Kings. I hope they do a second year. It became must watch TV for me on the second to last episode. I really didn’t know that much about it. Finally when I watched it I realized what a great show it was. NBC absolutely could increase the following by doing a marathon Kings weekend, but since it’s on a network, and not a cable channel, I don’t know if they would do that.

I love the show and hope they do a second season.

I think the promotions for Kings were poorly presented. They must have been because I never saw one that I can remember. A friend told us about it after many episodes. Thank God for fancast.com which had all the shows for viewing.
I watched the first few shows on fancast.com, the next few on ON-Demand, and the last ones on Saturday night NBC as they were shown. The cast is outstanding. McShane’s performance should earn him an EMMY. We have told all our friends to go to fancast and watch the entire season. I am looking forward to next season. It would be a disaster to cancel a quality show, of which NBC has so few.

Please grow a pair. Yes that’s right, grow a pair. Even Jack grew a pair near the end of season one and so can you.
Kings is a wonderful show that in my opinion was poorly advertized. The show is based on the Bible but yet you failed to sell it in that fashion. The US culture is primarily Christian based so why didn’t you push that in you advertizing and scheme? Honestly your marketing director is out of touch and needs to re-attended college; at the most spend more time in the real world. (feel free to pass them my email info)
Many of my friends where clueless to the hidden parable of the story line until I explained it to them because at first I didn’t even know it until I started putting the characters together. Now we all get together to watch the show on the weekend before we head out to the bars and clubs. The show is catching on in the 23-35 age group.

NBC all we are asking is that you give the show a chance to develop a viewer base. We are sick of reality television. Some of us enjoy complex story lines and not just a show that puts random people in a box and watches what will happen. Jericho was a wonderful show saved by its fans only to be destroyed in the second season by a thrown together plot, sad dealing that was. In a nutshell please give it one more year. I’m getting to the point where I avoid channels like NBC/CBS/ABC because you do your viewers injustices at the cost of making your sponsors happy.

I am so sick of all these networks who setup their viewers to watch a particular show and never give these shows enough time to command an audience. i agree with everyone … so far i have checked out about 5 dif message boreds on this and everyone who watches this show loves it .. i could go on and on about how great the show is.. with brilliant characters and plot and cinimitography. but everyone reading this already knows all that … the reason this failed is cus they chose some **** time slot to air this that plus a mixture of idiotic auidiance who would rather watch reality tv and cop shows and a complete failure to market this the correct way .. long since dead are the days of the masses being interested in a smart meaningful show.. but if the audiance knew this thing was more addicting then spanish soap operas they would tune in every week .. and whats with the sunday night then sat night time slot .. come on nbc you guys know how good this show is put it on thursday nights and let it work over the people they will catch on eventualy i hate to think this ends after season one … cus we all know david will become king but what happends in the termoil what becomes of his home town that silas promised to gath … story lines that could fill another two seasons … if nbc did not **** it up i hope some other network even if its cable picks up the rights to this show

I am trying to be descent about this…But NBC Executives are NOT THINKING!!! They cut shows that are some of the best…but keep idiotic shows like REALITY SHOWS.. because it doesnt really require that much money to be spent and they have a way to make more money(because they put out less on production cost and paying actors/no need to pay a reality star if they do not win or …) so they make more money that way from sponsors etc….The times and economy has drasticaly changed ..so people can not always be on their couch to watch shows (in every weird time slot) because they have extra hours at work or weird hours at work…etc…..NBC and most networks give you option to watch on their website..also Hulu as well and whatever 3rd party site may host reruns…that is what is convienent now!!!

King is building an enormous following on places like HULU, which is where I watch it every Sunday. NOBODY watches broadcast television anymore in accordance with the network’s schedule, but that doesn’t mean a show is not a success and not worth investing in! Kings is one of those quality productions which should be supported, not because its good for you, but because its some of the best entertainment on the screen today! I am so angry that Kings has been cancelled. I caught the pilot as a free download on itunes and i can’t count the amount of times i have watched it and the following episodes. I download the new eps as soon as i can (I’m in Ireland). This show is unique and refreshing in a sea of shows that are all basically the same, reality shows and cop shows. It’s disappointing that people can’t appreciate a show that dares to be different and that actually has a premise that stands out. I am just so tired of the fact that the only consistancy that these networks seem to show is in cancelling shows before they have any real chance

I’m going to stop watching NBC, CBS, and ABC altogether. These three antiquated jokes consistently cancel their more thought-provoking programming. They will let you down every single time. All three seem to think “reality t.v.” is on the cutting edge, mainly because it’s cheap to create and many viewers are not intelligent enough to realize it has nothing to do with reality.

I keep a list of programs I’ve liked over the years that have been cancelled. It’s a very long list. It’s too bad NBC, CBS, and ABC are branching out into cable t.v. programming. Cancellations of more enjoyable t.v. shows on cable are more likely as these “big three” idiots garner more specialty networks to themselves.

NBC, you are losing viewership. Cancelling televison shows people like is one of the reasons. Hurry up and go bust so someone else with a little integrity can take over the reins.

hey — i set my DVR to record kings last week — and it recorded law and order

i doulbe checked it — the scheduled recordings showed Kings — but when i pressed play it showed that show

WHAT AM I MISSING ???? did my dvr via dish network mess up — or am i just

i know the ratings are not what they’d hoped — so i was wondering if it was

This is the best show since sliders. And Sliders appeared in 94. I don’t know what is wrong with my country, the vast majority of us would rather watch American Bullshit idol than watch a TV show that requires brains to understand.

Who watches TV on Sunday nights except for sports fans? Premier viewership probably dropped off because people switched over to a game they were waiting on. Seems like a terrible timeslot for a good series.

Perhaps ratings have been worse for subsequent episodes because the series builds on itself and doesn’t make complete sense unless you caught the first episodes between games? Catch the whole thing on HULU from the beginning while they still have the episodes up.

I watch everything on HULU anyway so it fits in my schedule but ratings are based on broadcast viewing. That is rapidly becoming an archaic way to measure a shows popularity since so many people have switched to online viewing.

This is a great show. It’s a novel premise (which I won’t spoil) with great production values, a good script and great acting. I’d love to see it survive. I support it and I’ve told my friends about it but it seems like a tall order vs the mass of mindless reality TV out there that is sweeping the bulk of anything worth watching off the air.

Sorry, but this is a good show. Really is better then the reality and cop show. I give 5 stars to NBC for trying to get a great show that is not about cops. The show is great, and I think that the American people are kind of like ok, I have to think so it is a bad show. They rather watch Dancing with the Stars, or some Bachelor show, it is sad. Please NBC keep this show on the air.

I had wanted to watch this series. When scanning thru the channels-it was already too far into the show that I thought it might not make sense to me. I looked to see if this first episode was on another night (like so many new shows seem to be doing lately) and could not find a listing. Sunday night seems like a really odd time for this show. My major network tv viewing does not take place on the weekends.
Weekends consist of rented movie viewing. That is probably why I missed it.

i agree with a majority of the viewers of this show. it’s about time that “regular” television has started to show some actual substance, instead of shows – like “the apprentice” and others – of the “5-minute attention span” variety. i hope that this show is cancelled, as it actually gives me a reason to watch anything in addition than sports on sunday evenings. a great engrossing storyline, which keeps me on my toes (like heroes does on monday nights!).

Unfortunately, it is too deep for most people who just want have TV wash over them. I’ve watched the premier three times and each time see another angle worth exploring. The second episode has so many layers, the writers could spend three years exploring all of the subplots. This is a great show and I like it. Too bad, I liked Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip also and that practically ensures a fast cancellation of Kings.

People not watching this show don’t know what they are missing! “Kings” is a revelation for basic broadcast television – it is so well crafted and the acting is A-one. I just can’t imagine NBC just pulling it. I have gotten at least five people to watch it and they all LOVED it and will continue to watch. I agree that the promotion of the show has been shitastic and the time slot is awful. I’ve watched the pilot three times and the first show at least twice, and it never gets old. Ian McShane is so, so good, and Christopher Egan as “David” – how can you not love this kid?

When is 5 million viewers not enough? So what if a huge number of idiots want to watch Celebrity Apprentice, do we all have to watch that kind of crap instead of well produced drama with great cinematography? Does this mean you too will carry low budget “reality” shows that appeal to the worst in all of us? Please say no and stick to your guns and continue to bring good drama.

I love Ian McShane, it’s an ok show but the ratings are going down hill fast 6.47 million in the opener now down to 4.62 million. If the ratings slide continues I don’t see it lasting which is too bad because it’s a good show not the greatest but watchable and ten times better than the copy cat show Lie to Me (which will probably get cancelled too)

Loved this show! Don’t have T.V. reception so I watch all my favorites on-line, mostly through Hulu. Great shows like Kings, Firefly, Pushing Daisies– those should get air time, not crap like Dancing With The Invalids, The ******* Bachelor, and other garbage reality T.V. Wake up Networks!

My vote is to keep Kings and do a better job of promoting it. *keeping fingers crossed for this one.*

I Love Ian McShane and love the show. However, the orange butterflies and have got to go! Orange butterflies looks to matriarchal, and not the royal colors of a king. Especially with Ian McShane as the king! The orange butterflies are laughable. When I was in ‘Nam the VC would laugh themselves to death if we had orange butterflies on our uniforms!
