I thought the whole idea behind this series was the most coolest thing I had seen on television in a long time. I was telling my friends about the series and they were looking forward to seeing it because of how excited I was about it. I feel like this series should be revived. I cannot believe they pulled this series in light of all the reality tv garbage that is on tv and nothing else. Why did NBC not offer the series to some christian station or production like the ones that do the Left Behind Series. They did a lousey job publicizing the series unlike others. You really should bring this series back. I hope Answers.com can get the word to the powers that be that there are many many people who want to see this series back on television.

don’t let it die!!! it’s wonderfully different and refreshing, excellent acting…maybe would have had a better chance if the character names were different from the ones in the bible (from which the story is inspired). Still, i like it and managed to get a lot of my friends interested in it as well. Bring it back, it was good!

Judging by the cast, the concept and story line, I just know I would have loved this show. That is, had I even known it existed; frankly the reason I did not know about “Kings,” is because it aired on NBC. Shipping it over to another network (e.g., ABC, as Richard suggested) would really help. In general, this recent trend is infuriating: shows that my family and I really enjoy are yanked after two or three episodes. Are times that tough, that Network higher-ups are that trigger-happy? Why not make any new show, a miniseries instead? To test the waters: the BBC in decades-past, aired “Fawlty Towers,” for only 12 episodes; and “Dr, Who,” which was only supposed to run for one night, November 22, 1963, did; but then it ran for years afterward. Both shows remained wildly popular with their viewing audiences. That “quality” doesn’t matter in TV is an old story. Yet, if there is ever to be any future, “death of Television,” it will come about only because of the poor decision-making skills of TV-Execs: they shoot themselves in their collective feet— and we react by voting with ours.

I thought after Leno moved back to late night, NBC was bringing back 10:00 dramas? What happened? I know last summer Kings was cancelled, but is there any chance it comes back now that they have the open slots? I can’t believe they wouldn’t continue this show. I can’t believe they wouldn’t at least shoot a mini-series to complete it. I know everybody makes fun of NBC, but how can they possibly be this incompetent? Why would they premier this show on a Sat. to begin with? Seriously, wtf. And ABC, now that you’re losing Lost, please consider picking this show up. It’s definitely a winner.

As we all know , in these days its all abt the benjamins right???……its sad i know but is also true. Aniway, i loved the show a looot, wht can i say it had a great casting,great production, the story was good too, a bit difficult to be absorbed by everyone, but in my case was no trouble, i like these kind of stories and when i heard tht they pulled the plug on it i felt really sory i was being anxious to see the second season, Sheperd`s story wasnt finished yet…………aniway maybe u guys will reconsider someday and next time have more faith.

Why not have Jay Leno and “reality” TV for three prime time hours seven days a week? That way you don’t have to pay for quality scripted dramas at all. What a loss. Kings wasn’t perfect but it was MUCH more interesting that the rest of the crap shown on that network. Shame on you NBC.

NBC’s ‘KINGS’ website refers to tonight’s show as a ‘Season Finale’ … not a Series Finale… seemingly keeping their options open. Perhaps if enough people ask (with a bit of passion) that NBC consider a second season… well, who knows what might happen.

I really hope the show is picked up by a network that has the balls to market it! I saw ONE commercial that explained this was a show based on the bibilical story of David and Goliath, that aired during the day on a Thursday. Had I not just given birth to my son, I would not have seen the plot and been interested. Since then I have been totally taken by the show and its character. Having been a HUGE deadwood fan I seriously doubted a character could ever make me forget Swearengen, and I was completely wrong. I cannot ever see Ian McShane as anyone other than King Silas! This show is amazing and its failure should only fall on NBC and horrid ability to market!!!

I really hope another network picks up this show. The show needed to build up the characters. It is hands down THE ONLY SHOW I watch regularly on regular network television. This one needs to move to HBO or Showtime. They are known for edgy shows like this. NBC average viewers don’t want to take the time to get into show. They need that instanst gratification.

Unfortunately, brand specialist know that people over 35 are already fixed to a product. TV is geared to the 18-35, and the need for one to focus on a terrific show like this doesn’t exist in the 20 somethings, sorry. This show would do very well on HBO, where creativity and good acting mean something. Intelligent shows rarely make it on prime time network. Only cheap laughs. Another very good show bites the dust.

Too bad about ‘Kings.’ I haven’t enjoyed a show this much in ages. The acting is fabulous and the story is fascinating. You don’t need to know anything about the Biblical story of David to enjoy it and maybe that’s part of the advertising problem. My 17 year old son watched it with me and he’s really liked it, too. Give us some credit! Now, I missed some episodes because of hockey season but have caught up and can’t wait to see tomorrow’s show. I’d say please reconsider NBC

I was not really into the whole biblical analog. I mean I’m all for getting stories on the cheap, and after the writers strike I can see some executive deciding “they” weren’t going to deal with some 2 bit writers, when we can just reboot parts of the old-testament!

Unfortunately, what you quickly realize is that ALOT of what made sense 3000 or 4000 years ago, just sounds contrived and situational, and at worst just not relevant.

Certainly folks had most all of the same problems we do, back then, and in most all of the cases there are moral lessons to be learned or that can have value into the future, but not every narrative story wears that well over time, and this happens to be one of those stories.

Even Battlestar Galactica – the showpiece of successful reboots, got into trouble when they started to involve God concepts and miracles for reasons for things happening. True they did so from the “beginning” of the series, but there was usually a plausible non-divine reason available.

Particularly at the end of the series, people got very upset when God was invoked outright in a science fiction narrative – as a literal “deus ex machina” Ron Moore actually executed the idea VERY well, but it still pissed off alot of people.

I guess I’m not the only person wondering where on of the better shows on tv disappeared to?? I really thought they held off on it because of the playoffs and all that but it seems like they thinkin bout droppin it. That would be pretty stupid. I understand that most shows (especially on NBC) are fairly stupid but this one is thought provoking, interesting and was just gettin into the thick of things! Now if I didn’t DVR the show, commercials would make me just turn the tv off! With that said NBC need to go ahead and get with the times and become ON Demand (NO CHARGE!) with the intelligent shows for people with more on their minds than scripted reality and blah blah blah!

This show was so intense and the lead Ian McShane such a commanding performer that it actually required people to pay attention to it. If the viewer had been raised under some aetheistic or agnostic rock somewhere, then the story of King David would be a foreign concept to them and all they would see was a show with a military government, lots of death, adultery, betrayal, accountability and suffering before redemption. It is not a show that can be taken lightly, but I’m certain that viewers in Appalachia, inner-city L.A., Philly, New York and other bastions of commonly banal I.Q’s who understood the plot better than the usual left-wing kooks!

I was suprised when NBC moved the show to Saturday – which is a typical “were about to pull the plug” signal. I think Kings is one of the best dramas on tv. The acting, story line, locations, etc, are as good or better than anything you find on tv.

I hope that NBC will give it another chance or at least release it on DVD so we can see the rest of the episodes. Some shows are just too intelligent for regular tv. Maybe Kings could find a home on USA, with Monk, Psych, and House.

I miss the old days when viewers could count on the networks. We shared a loyality in those days and I dont think the new breed of network executive has a clue of how to build. Some shows take a little time and patience to build an audience. Seems as though the “fast food” approach to network programming is the only thing they think we will respond to.

the networks are going to go the way of the automakers. they should leave serious projects to the ‘heavies’ of cable. networks can keep their reality shows (Crap) and mindless soap-opera types (Desp.housewives). Can you imagine if they had tried the Sopranos on network tv? I did fall for Lost and that too would have played out better on cable… networks have it so chopped up on breaks and commercials. Please reconsider bringing this back before June!! I think you are not giving this one enough time for WOM (word of mouth) to get around about it. This is one of the VERY FEW shows that can stand up against the cable series i.e.; Dexter, True Blood, Deadwood, etc., etc., etc..
PLEASE reconsider and put a good show back on the air sonner than June!

How can viewers even trust a prime network when they know that their favorite series is at the mercy of the fickle whims of marketing and programming execs? Why even bother to get hooked? My husband and I were thinking, Now here is a really substantial show with great writing and great acting. Decent plot, albeit a little far fetched. We got hooked. Sad to say… when and if it comes back, or when and if we see another tempting listing for the peacock network… we will just opt to watch Public TV instead. So much for thinking that NBC was starting to head toward leading edge programming.

I have many friends who watched the show because we loved Deadwood and since Ian McShane was on it, we watched… and we liked!! Then they SKIPPED EASTER which was really idiotic on their part, because everyone was like WTF where did it go, then put it on Saturdays, where everyone I knew who watched it didn’t even know it was on, so couldn’t watch.

Why is it the Nielsen ratings have never ever once called me? Who are they calling exactly? Dipshits who like reality TV apparently.

Hey NBC if I recall, the first season of Seinfeld was nothing impressive, was it? I mean seriously, it sucked. The show didn’t get really awesome until the 3rd season. Imagine if NBC’s execs of today were running it in the late 80s, they would have lost all that money they made on Seinfeld.

We are in our mid-fifties. We each have our own TV. KINGS is one TV show we’ve gotten together to watch on one TV. It was one of very few shows worth watching on Sunday nights. Our Mom enjoyed it as well…she is only 88!
For heaven’s sake, give it a chance!

I love this show! It was amazing to see something different from NBC. I was so into it but why did they not give the show a chance and have to move it around. Please give the show a chance for a second chance and move it to the Sci-Fi channel? Maybe then people who might like that type of show might give it a chance!

I first saw the show when Sci-Fi I think had parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 running back to back late one night. I could be mistaken on the channel, but I instantly liked it.

I was waiting for episode 5 but it got moved around. I agree with the previous comments about poorly advertised, and those that wish to follow the show could not keep up with the shifts in schedule. Much like a restaurant that does not keep it’s posted hours, you quick going back because the restaurant, in this case “Netowrk” is un reliable. I agree also with the earlier comment that it should be picked up by HBO, Showtime, or Sci-Fi.

I am grateful to hulo for having the episodes thus far.

I’m so mad just like everyone else. How does NBC expect a show to do well when they purposely move it around. No joke, my whole family is into this show and were waiting for Sunday evening, only to find out it aired the night before. Then I waited again until tonight on Sunday and found it it’s been axed until the summer. Please NBC, go ahead do more SVU or Southland or just become like fox already and feed us Osborne garbage crap!

I can’t believe that one of the few really good shows has been pulled.

When will the network gurus realize that there are millions who are sick to death of these faux reality shows–repetitive, no talent, banal.

I suppose the upside of the current programming is that it is like aversion therapy for anyone watching too much TV.

Apologies… this is likely my fault. Each year it seems I pick a show to watch and destine it to failure. First The Mountain, then Journeyman and now it would seem Kings takes it’s wrongful place in the lineup. RIP well written, cast and shot tv series.

The initial marketing was bad it gave a false impression of the show (like it was some gossip girl type show) and I didnt know when it was going to air. if it wasnt for hulu i would have never seen the show. then they keep moving the show around so that people who FOLLOW it cant even keep track and they think that will help?

On top of all that, the show only aired like 5 episodes and was a mid-season replacement – which hardly ever do well. I dont get how a show with a lot of potential cant even get through its first season.

I remember shows were at least given one FULL season most of the time to develop but its like they didnt want this one to…not to mention millions of people can watch this show and it still can receive poor ratings b/c we’re not determining them. Remember family guy getting moved and canceled and now its one of FOX’s biggest shows. hopefully another network will pick it up

I really hate to see the show pulled. Hope it will return. One of the best shows I have seen in a long long time. ” Reality” shows and crime shows are just getting to be too much. Hope to see “Kings” back again!

Unfortunately, the good shows that appeal to mature audiences are being shown on cable and pay-for-view. Kings would have stood a better chance on HBO, Showtime, or even the SciFi channel than network TV. Crime dramas and reality shows now dominate the networks and I guess appeal to the masses. For the most part, I thing mature viewers have been told that as a demographic they are not very important (even though older viewers actually have the most disposable income). The result is a lot of pablum and drivel on network TV and a big loss in viewership. Maybe they will wise up and realize that the youngsters who love the soapy melodramas and reality shows spend most of their time doing other things than watching TV.

It went down because no one watches NBC anyway. And those that do hardly saw any promos for the show. They wanted it to fail and they wanted it to fail big time. People I talked to never even heard of the show, never saw a promo, never heard a story, nothing zip zilch nadda. You can’t expect to gain a viewship if you don’t market your show!

It was a beautiful intelegent almost shakespearean show and that people could easiy understand and relate to. Unfortunately the marketing made it look like some show about spoiled people who do bad things in a trashy way.
