NBC had an unbelievable product on its' hands and couldn't sell it. Same happened with Southland too. Is it an idiotic American public who prefers mindless junk and reality shows or inept executives at NBC? I think it's a little of both...

I'm only 16 years old and I differently can say that it was worth watching 100% and I wish their were more shows like this that would grab my attention. I agree with NBC not marketing their show more. How do they expect someone to watch a show if the viewer has never heard about it? I came across this show because I was actually hunting down something to watch, not because I heard about it. Simply hearing about it I know I would have seen it sooner and would have told my pals about it and then the thread would go on.
I'm sorry NBC I am disappointed in you, life goes on and at this point I have better things to worry about.

I came across this show after recently watching the movie, Letters to Juliet, where I fell in love with actor Chris Egan. I searched his filmography and found Kings as one of the tv shows he starred in. I went on Hulu to watch it and I became ADDICTED. I watched the whole season in one day, even though it was a school night. The show was absolutely phenomenal!! I loved the story line, the plot, the characters, the romance between Shepard and the princess, basically everything! I'm not in any way familiar with the story of David and Goliath, but the way the show was put together was really interesting. I loved the modern twist and how it portrayed a lot of what happens today with the corruption and conspiracy. Not only was the story line amazing, the acting was superb as well. I loved Chris in it and it made me love him as an actor even more. I was quite disappointed with the finale because it wasn't a clean ending. It was left at a cliff hanger and it's unfair to the fans, especially because it was cancelled. I truly hope that the show will be brought back for another season, so the fans can see how it ends. I know the turnout the next time around will be much better. I still have so many questions and I hope that they won't be left unanswered.

This show reminds me a lot of "Firefly" not by story at all but rather in sales approach. I am not sure what the fossils on the NBC board are trying to shake down but as storytelling, media, culture and we change the delivery and ability to do business needs to change as well. Kings is an outstanding show, I am incredibly impressed. I have complete confidence in the American public to not just keep up with, but to love Kings. I hope it resumes, if not I may make the revamping of this show my capital venture.

KINGS was one of the greatest shows ever made. NBC is a failing company and could have did great with this show if they marketed it better! ABC or SIFI need to revive it!

now is a good time to revive KINGS. Our country is in a mess and needs some program like this to bring back religion. This program makes a person think unlike the stupidity of reality TV i.e. big brother etc. MARKET IT - throw it in everyones face - make them hear KINGS and get as hooked on it as i was. PLEASE this is definitely worth watching. I really looked forward to this over all the other programs available. If I were to win the lottery I would definitely invest in bringing it back. It teaches morals which is so sorely needed to day and the consquences of ones own actions. Proper advertising of this program could have ensured its success instead it was poorly presented to the public.

I purchased the "Kings" DVD. I was horried at the ending! It just isn't fair of NBC to do that. It will always be one of my favorite DVD but I always cringe when it comes to the ending! It isn't fair to leave people up in the air and hoping some day someone will finish it.

Unbelievably good writing. Shocking that it actually made it to primetime TV. A rare jewel and totally enjoyable for the short time it was able to shine. If only networks were run by "normal" people - people who make schedules that people know when things are on and a commitment to gain an audience. I read long books instead.

Kings was a perfect example of speaking too much 'truth' about the distorted world around us..its a story that needs to be told, and listened/watched by everyone. I only offer this because like so many other people like myself, we want stories that inspire to do good things, to make us better people, and to make us wiser than when we first started. Sure, its just a show, but it can be so much more for many of us still willing to take something away from this timeless tale.

The DVD is out and we have had it for several weeks. It's definitely a favourite. I don't think the series was too high-brow at all. I cannot accept that we are that much more intelligent than the average viewer - more intelligent, yes, but not THAT much more intelligent.

I have watched kings upto the last episode in two days. it was wrong for it to be cancelled. if you do not want to air it sell it. Its wrong to leave such a great thing unfinished, it shows cowardice. Kings is great, we'd like to see David become King!

I can't wait for the big networks to crumble to TV on Demand. We'll see the independent producers empowered to create a show not just for the dollar, but for the achievement of creating something new, fresh and intelligent. While the big networks remain on top, we will continue to loose great shows like Kings. I must say that Michael Green did a brilliant job with Kings, its one of my all time favourites. It was a massive pity that NBC was never advertised it properly. I only just heard about it last month :(

I'm very disappointed that 'Kings' won't be back. It was a complex show, and that's what I loved about it. It was well acted and smart. It was an original idea. Sometimes brainless tv is good when you just want to veg. But the majority of programming today has become copycatting garbage. And NBC in particular has become quite the receptacle for garbage. I can't even watch the 'Today' show anymore. They've gone quite limp. Thank goodness for 'Parenthood'. Hope I didn't just jinx it! I'm jumping over to their station USA, where some of my favorite shows are. Just put 'Parenthood', 'Philanthropist', 'Merlin' and 'Kings' on USA, and you'll have a complete network.

I agree totally, i faithfully watched every episode, sometimes more then once. I do think it would have survived as a short series coming back every year. something to consider . I did have alot of my friends watching it when I had them sit down and watch one episode. none really knew much about it. hoping you bring it back in some state. Bets

I'm just sick to death of NBC. I'm past my 20's now, and hate to say getting ready to hit 40. It seems like every time I start to like a show the network gets rid of it. Guess what NETWORKS thats why I got HBO, SHOWTIME, and STARZ. I'm sick of this stupid shows that are designed for brainless idots. I know there cheap to make, but what does it say about the networks? It's to the point I have to watch USA to get TV shows I like. I know USA is owned by NBC, but then why does NBC not put some of the shows that could not make on NBC to USA? Just like my name is Earl? I under stand USA budgets couldnt handle a show like that, but that what they got mini series for.
If your going to get rid of a show NBC at least do an show that ends everything. That way no has a bad taste in there mouth. Right now NBC has left a bad taste in my mouth for to long, and thats why I have not watched NBC in over 4 months. REMEMBER PEOPLE WE DONT NEED NBC; THEY NEED US. Did NBC ever think why there ratings are down so bad. People are sick of it.
Not every show on earth going to get the best ratings, but thats life. What do they think that they are going to have 28 hit shows on there hand? COME ON. There are 3 other major networks.

It seems like every time I start to like a show the network gets rid of it. Guess what NETWORKS thats why I got HBO, SHOWTIME, and STARZ. I’m sick of this stupid shows that are designed for brainless idots. I know there cheap to make, but what does it say about the networks? It’s to the point I have to watch USA to get TV shows I like.

I watched the show about a month ago and brought it on Amazon. I watched the whole season in 3 to 4 days. I liked it a lot and told some of my god-sisters about it. Marketing is the key to success but NBC wants to blame the failure on the show. Nothing more to say besides, as others have said, I would like to see more.

Judging by the cast, the concept and story line, I just know I would have loved this show. That is, had I even known it existed; frankly the reason I did not know about "Kings," is because it aired on NBC. Shipping it over to another network (e.g., ABC, as Richard suggested) would really help. In general, this recent trend is infuriating: shows that my family and I really enjoy are yanked after two or three episodes. Are times that tough, that Network higher-ups are that trigger-happy? Why not make any new show, a miniseries instead? To test the waters: the BBC in decades-past, aired “Fawlty Towers,” for only 12 episodes; and “Dr, Who,” which was only supposed to run for one night, November 22, 1963, did; but then it ran for years afterward. Both shows remained wildly popular with their viewing audiences. That “quality” doesn't matter in TV is an old story. Yet, if there is ever to be any future, "death of Television," it will come about only because of the poor decision-making skills of TV-Execs: they shoot themselves in their collective feet— and we react by voting with ours.

I absolutely agree with previous comments. This show was truly a refreshing piece of work and I hate that the average viewer's intelligence is thought so poorly of that networks feel the need to produce shows that literally spell out the conclusion to every mystery or unaswered question. This show kept me glued and while it was still on I for one got the word out there to people who quite frankly had never even heard the name because evidently the only place they bothered to heavily advertise was New York where one of my sisters lives. No one else had heard of it. And then of course it didn't help that when I said it should be on at a certain time so they could watch it... they kept switching it around. I bought the series on DVD the day it came out and intend to keep showing it to people. I would love to be able to tell them they weren't watching it only to be left hanging at the end.

We enjoyed Kings so very much. The biggest obstacle in following Kings was figuring out when it was on; this week 'yes' on one night, next week 'no' but 'yes' on a different night. We missed so many episodes it was hard to keep it all ltogether. No advertising didn't help much either.
Had I been the network boss, I could have sold the show easily - just tell people when it's on and be consistent. How about starting all over and run the series from the beginning or at least a major review. There's enough drama in actual Old Testament to provide materials for several seasons. The deviations from "the Prophets" of the OT were a good addition and kept us anticipatingly unsure of where it was going, but the main themes followed OT closely enough to be educational.

I don't think Kings was too high brow or too difficult to sell. I find it insulting that NBC doesn't give intellectual credit to its viewing audience. Perhaps it wasn't marketed properly, or perhaps Sunday and Saturday nights are really bad nights to try to start a new show, but if NBC had given Kings a chance to attract an audience, I don't think they would have been disappointed. I wish NBC would give us some sort of conclusion. They took a chance by producing such an ambitious show; I wish they would take one again by bringing it to a conclusion, either in a movie or a mini-series. I really think it could succeed. Please give it a shot!

I just this minute saw the last episode for Kings: The Series as a DVD rental. I enjoyed all the episodes and was sorry to learn the series had been discontinued by NBC. I think it would have been more successful and profitable as a mini-series with a conclusion. On a scale of one to five, five being excellent, I would rate it a four (because it has left me hanging with too many questions). I wish NBC would bring it back as a mini-series with a conclusion. I bet they could make a profit from the sales of DVD......I would be the first to buy it!

So is this what American TV has come to?... Watching people lose weight, watching over the hill and B rated celebrities trying to work for a real estate mogul, watching idiots on a stranded island, and watching moronic couples airing their marital problems for the world to see???

Kings was the most captivating drama on TV since the likes of ER. I can appreciate that NBC has a business to run and the bottom line is profitability. However, some things will not turn you a profit immediately. Any smart business person should know that. This series had such a fantastic cast that I can only imagine that it did not come cheap. The studio settings for this show must have also cost a pretty penny because just like all of the other fans, I found it visually captivating. So then that must have left NBC little to spend on marketing the series. How could NBC executives be so short-sighted and forget how to sell their product.

Now that there has been proper marketing done on the internet, Kings has a bigger viewer population than ever! I have yet to find any negative posting regarding this show. It is a shame that NBC isn't willing to give it's slightly more intellectual viewers who have no interest in mindless reality tv an opportunity to sit down and actually engage with a show that does not end when the credits role. A show that inspires discussions with others about real life issues...

Needless to say I, along with every other fan, am extremely disheartened by the cancellation of this show and would hope that NBC realizes that it will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in history if they do not reverse this decision. It’s been done before for far worse shows.

Let’s kick off an email campaign to let Jeff Zucker, the President of NBC Universal Television Group, know how we feel. Send him an email at jeff.zucker@nbcuni.com to tell him that we want them to BRING KINGS BACK.

Have we become this dummed down in America where a beautifully written and inspirational show can't stand up to a series like "Flavor of Love"

NBC... shame on you!!! Some things are worth the risk. But in this case, you never took the risk from the beginning. You can clearly see that there were little (IF ANY) commercials to advertise this series. I, Like many others simply got bored one day and began surfing and stumbled upon this show and have been promoting it ourselves. This series is a depiction of what America is about, making the most of what you have, and fighting for what's good.

I feel that NBC never wanted Kings to come off the ground in the first place.
I am a HUGE 24 fan but more than that I love Heroes. After I ran out of episodes I found Kings while surfing sites, and I stopped to read about it simply because it had a beautiful cover. From the first episode I realized this was more than just looks, this was a goose pimpling, inspirational show that was powerful in all aspects. Superb in all facets of acting, cinematography, plot, music...you name it, it leaves one speechless. I began to watch this series over 24 and over ( I cant believe I'm saying it but...) Heroes!

Kings became my number 1 favorite show. It hurts to know a series so powerful would get the boot before ever having a fighting chance to survive!

NBC = Nothing But Crap!

I just had a chance to finish Kings and I am EXTREMELY disappointed that there will not be another season :( I was left on the edge of my chair each episode and could not wait to watch the next one. I am quite angry that NBC would take such an excellent show and not finish the story. Please bring Kings back another season!!!!!

Its a sad sad day... When will networks learn that people need substance, not this crap they constantly play on the air like mindless reality TV? I mean really... Really NBC? You put an intellectual show on TV knowing that 90% of your views are brian dead and you expect it to JUMP off just like that? Really NBC.... Really? IT IS A GREAT SHOW, but it does force people to think and look inwards at themselves. AMERICA take a while for that to happen and they should be given that chance. Taking the show off the air because a billion dollar network loses a couple million... OH I AM SSSSSOOOO SORRY YOU HAD TO GET THE NEW BMW INSTEAD OF THE BENTLEY THIS YEAR MR EXECUTIVE.

NBC just keeps getting dumber and dumber by cancelling yet another good show. I have been waiting for this to return, just found out it was cancelled. I know fellow Kings watchers know how I felt when I heard the news, but I dont think NBC really cares much. Lately the networks have been killing the good shows, yet keeping the shows that NO ONE, that I know anyway, watches. It down right pisses me off, to think this was a failure.

NBC if you were smart you would bring back Kings. I agree with alot of people that it was not properly advertised, but now that it has caught on through the web, I feel like the ratings would increase because the web did the job that your advertising team did not. Genius is hard to stifle for long and it is apparent that Kings has caught on. I am sure NBC can afford to take a risk and try to bring back worthy dramatic tv....reality tv is overrated and overplayed!!! Kings was the most captivating tv I have seen in years. I do not think it would matter what day or time slot you put it in...we live in a world where DVR's are as common as toasters. WE WILL WATCH.....

It was not promoted enough before or during its showing. Most new shows one sees during every tv break, this one was barely seen. I just got hooked from one and kept up with when it was coming on. Shame on those responsible for the bad promotion of this Excellent, crebral TV series.

I feel like the other people that responded to Kings being canceled. This was a wonderful show, it held my interest, it was very intriguing. You need to bring this show back for the mature audiences that appreciate some thought being given to a story line. Please give us back some intelligent television. I really, really liked this show!!!

Everyone involved in this show should be proud of their work.

I, like many others, discovered this show online and was instantly hooked. I watched the entire season over the course of the last week and was disappointed to hear there are no plans for season 2. I'm not sure what is going on over at NBC but they seem to be unable to get out of their own way. I hold out hope that with Leno vacating 10pm ET there will be a slot for Kings...then again it might be more cost-effective for NBC to set up a webcam pointed at a fish tank.

I just watched the whole season on HULU and it was great. I wanted to watch it during the season but the time it was on in the evening I had other engagements. I Loved every minute of the show and wish some one will pick it up and continue. I do not know what is wrong with this country, but Good drama seems to be failing just after a season or two. Why is that? I have fallen in love with a few good shows over the last year to find that they have been canceled because of lack of viewers. And the shows that do survive aren't worth watching.

I recieved the first season of kings (never hearing of it previous only givin to me by a friend who is also hooked) only 3 days ago and i have finished it already, which was no easy feat i work 14hrs a day. i got that into it i even snuck in an episode whilst at work. on trying to find out when season 2 was to start i was extremely disapointed in reading that NBC had canceled the show i mean the only TV series i enjoy more then that is HEROES. there seems to be alot of support for the show and considering the story line it seems to grab people from every direction and suck them in religeous or not, the story line was really starting to get good, NBC seeem to have givin us little time to build up an appropriate fan base as most TV series these days seem to have about 20 episodes in the first season to give viewers a chance to really get to know the characters and fall in love with them. i say they should at the least give them another season i reakon NBC will get a suprise and from what i read NBC move it to a time slot over there in America that doesn’t get a very wide variety of viewers. i say get rid of reality TV crap, the only reason that crap gets high ratings is cause the idiots that are watchin it are to stupid to follow a decent story line and we all know there are alot of idiots out there and unfortunatly most of them are the ones without jobs and are able to spend more time watching TV uping the ratings of these mindless shows.leaving only one thing left to say BRING BACK KINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I found Kings to be the best TV moment of the week. I believe one of the reasons it found a small audience is that Americans know little or nothing of the history of any other nation. The Kings storyline followed much of the Biblical account of King Saul and King David and the history of the nation of Israel placed in a 21st century context. We have no interest at all in the mindless programs whose plots rival the weather report and have no educational or intelligent content. Shame on NBC for catering solely to the mindless minions.

I don't think the network did a good job of promoting this series, as it only came on my radar from surfing the iTunes store. Once discovered, I was instantly addicted. Finally, a smart, interesting show that competed with series like Dexter, True Blood, Weeds, etc. This series was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I found it to be visually beautiful, interesting and extremely entertaining. The cast was remarkably talented, consistantly delivering outstanding performances. I am so disappointed to discover that this series has been cancelled. I was truly left on the edge of my seat and couldn't wait for season two. Hopefully the network will reconsider and give it another chance.

How is Kings off the air but shows like Merlin are still playing. Kings was turning into a show that reviled other big shows like Lost on other networks. NBC along with many other large networks have no idea about whats good and whats not. I'm sick of being force feed reality TV constantly, its boring and i don't care who's the biggest loser is or who wants to marry a millionaire. Oh well I guess, chalk this one up to other great shows like Arrested Development.....

I was very let down to read that Kings was cancelled. It had more depth and plot than most shows I have seen in years. I was instantly captivated by it's characters and story lines that followed each person and how they all intermingled. The network big boys have sadly sold out for reality tv that is just not satisfying to me anymore (or other viwers i'm sure) R.I.P. "Kings" :0(

I was just looking for when the next season of KINGS would air, and just realized it isnt happening. I was really surprised and shocked. it is one of the best television shows i have seen in years. the story line and characters are great. it has really good actors to support its cause. im just wondering what is going in these tv producers heads. why let something really good go that is worth saving and keeping around.

I have watched a lot of television in my time, and KINGS possesses all things good about television. Entertainment has gotten way too shallow and meaningless, it hurts to turn on the screen because I know I will always be disappointed, let down, and left completely unsatisfied. KINGS, however, made me want more. It quenched some inward emptiness, some story that has been told so many times but is now new. This was one small, but great step to some sort of renewal of the entertainment industry, and now that hope is gone.

I love the characters and am totally hooked. I've been watching the episodes on hulu and am amazed at the series. Is there anything we can do to get it back? I also love the David/ Saul biblical connections. I hope someone out there reads these comments and can make it happen.

I'm very disappointed that Kings has been cancelled - I was waiting for Silas to return and take care of business!

I agree with all previous statements; how on earth could this show not receive good ratings? Who's doing the counting? I absolutely love this show!

Just when I'd decided that all television offered was a truckload of reality tv mess; Kings aired. Ah, hope renewed!

Kings was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Well-chosen actors, creative directing, and phenomenal story-telling, this show is top notch. My husband and I are youth Pastors and are amazed at the quality. We had to buy the season on DVD and LOVED it! Shame to have it stop there! This NEEDS another shot. Someone definitely should pick this up and finish it well.

NO ONE ASKED ME! I have had TIVO for years. Download the stupid data and you will see what TIVO and REPLAY owners are watching, instead of those silly stupid Nielson Ratings of old people on rabbit ears.

Just who is giving you a warped rating these days!

I find it so depressing that quality doesn't seem to hold any weight anymore. Kings was an epic show, a show that actually required thought! I cannot believe that it was canceled while the ridiculous reality shows are thriving on every network. It was a show of merit, and it was highly original. NBC killed a television jewel, and I would love to see it brought back in some form.

So sad that this awesome show got axed. Does anyone have a brain or an imagination anymore? In case you are wondering what will happen next read your bible! The story about David and King Silas (Saul in the old testament) Starts in the book of I Samuel. It saddens me that Jews and Christians alike wouldn't recognize a beautifully creative retelling of such an important story in the bible. Go and digest more reality show garbage lemmings!

Hello. My husband and I "stumbled" upon Kings when it aired back in April. What an intense, thought provoking mini-series that continued to challenge our "moral fiber" by its strong Biblical parallels. We were hooked immediately!

The selection of the actors were "on point" which assisted the audience to experience first-hand the dynamics of the City of Gilboa and its issues. King Silas exuded royalty with ALL its ego and quirks. His portrayal reflected the passions, vulnerabilities and dark side of the human heart.

Kings was an honest and refreshing series which allowed the viewers to participate in lives of the "first family" of the City of Gilboa. Every twist, unexpected scriptural parallel held our attention as we desired for MORE when the show ended weekly. It's an unfortunate loss for quality and content that is absent in network and other television venues.

The execs at NBC should be creative enough to financially manipulate their investments (lower costs) and continue in the quality of the show. A Saturday or Sunday 8:00 slot would be most appropriate.

Thanks.

This is the best show there has been in years. it was something totally different than the other shows. everything nowadays is the same. either about some hospital, some detective or criminal show or some vampire show or something. there are no original shows anymore. But kings is a whole different concept which would pay off. Me and some friends would watch every show & be bummed when it ended and knew we'd have to wait another week just to see it. i think it would have made so much money for NBC if they'd given it some time. I also think Saturday was not the best time to put it. thats when no one really wants to stay home and watch a show. They'd rather be doing something else that doesn't require them to stay home and watch television. with a better day it would have in my opinion sky rocketed.

NBC made a big mistake cancelling Kings. Kings was the most creative show that I've seen in forever. Imagine having to really pay attention, use your brain and think as you watch and are entertained. I know that I looked forward to watching every week and I know many others that did to. We talked about what was going on with the story line during the week and speculated on what to expect the following week. It is such a waste to just discard all the hard work and talent that went into creating this series. Bring it back, continue the story, make your viewers happy to watch NBC.

Kings was the best new show I have seen on network TV and should be brought back to have a proper ending. Make a second season of 13 episodes to finish out the story. I am sick of doctors, cops, and lawyers being the only thing on TV. Bring back Kings NBC.

Dear Executives,
Regardless of motive - we want KINGS back. Give us actors like Ian and
writers like those whom wrote the episodes and you can sell your commercial
spots for more money. Many of us are moving our viewing to LinkTV, Discovery, History and National Geographic. Please do not talk down to your audience.

The failed organizational decision here was to invest in Production and then pull the plug on "Promotion."

Michael Green's farewell message, which I referred to, is under the "Court Historian" link on the "Kings" web page.

Hey, NBC: Why NOT keep the "Kings" web site? Maintaining it must cost next to nothing. CBS still has the web page for "Threshold" YEARS after it was canceled. The video links are disabled, but that would be expected so they wouldn't compete with DVD sales (and you WILL learn how badly you blew it when the "Kings" DVDs hit the market).

Hmmm... "Kings", "Threshold", "Pushing Daisies"... I really know how to pick the ones that are too good to succeed! Those were at three different networks, so NBC isn't the only net with butterfingers when a TD pass heads its way.

I read that the original plan was to drop this into the time slot of "ER" and that this changed when "ER" was extended by three episodes. My guess is that they never reconfigured the introductory promotion for "Kings" to allow for the lack of access to the "ER" audience.

See Michael Green's comments on the "Kings" web site. The show is completely, irrevocably gone. Pleas for its return are useless.

If somebody knows how to plead with NBC to leave the program's web site up for our amusement, do that.

I don't know that there is enough of a fan base for it, but wouldn't a "Kings" feature film to tie up the loose ends be a peach? There are precedents for successful films from ratings failures ("Firefly"/"Serenity", for example), but I don't know that a "Kings" film could be self-contained enough to draw a sufficient audience. Those who watched the program aren't enough.

Perhaps it will be like "Star Trek" or "Battlestar Galactica" and return in a decade or two!

Such a shame that such a quality, thought provoking show is being dumped. Too bad our TV is becoming the land of stupid sitcoms and reality garbage.... Thank goodness my family ( kids and all) like to read, we'll have to get our quality there.

Saddened by your decision and understanding from a business point, however this WAS & STILL IS one of the BEST SHOWS ON TV in A LONG LONG TIME. not only does it encompass value, morals and complexities in family it allows a realistic understandings of these trials to be seen from different aspects of life...ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU ARE TYRING TO SELL in this new millennium, REAL ACTUAL TRUE TV with honest logistics and central marketing??

This is the best show I have seen in a long time. I was upset when ER ended and I thought that I was done with NBC since that was one of the only shows I actually watched but then Kings came along and I watched it through out the season and was really looking forward to a second. Come on NBC people will watch it you just have to do better marketing or sell it to another station that will give audiances what they want which is actual tv not reality we live in it every day tv is our escape and this show helped us do that PLEASE do the right thing and BRING BACK KINGS!!!!!!!!

Don't know how HBO can get away with putting on excellent, 'high brow' shows, and network TV can't. We just watched all 12 episodes on the internet because we just found out how good a show it was. It was FANTASTIC...and the online episodes end Sept. 20 for some odd reason. This was one of the BEST shows on TV...maybe ever. Only have raves for the actors, the set, the story, the writing. Is it a wonder that TV is languishing with decisions to cancel good shows?

I also did not find out about this show until it was already canceled. It is the first show I've found myself excited about in such a long time. What a shame to not get to see Season 2. Is there really no chance? What is the magic number of comments/emails needed to get execs to reconsider this hasty decision? What else can be done at the grass roots level to save this show?

As a markerter, I understand why NBC cancelled the show. No viewership = no advertisers = no show. As a viewer, however, I love this show. It's well written, the art direction is beautiful and the acting is fantastic. I feel that NBC failed in marketing the show appropriately and did not do it's part to emotionally connect it's show to it's audience. For spending $4million per show, NBC should have put some of that cash into a more creative promotion instead of putting in the standard marketing formula.

After only 3 episodes, NBC dumped the show into a weekend slot where it KNEW no shows do well?? That's intentionally putting it where it would fail. Three episodes isn't enough time for many drama shows to gain a following, particularly if they aren't promoted well. I, for one, didn't even know about the show until it was in summer reruns -- THAT'S how badly marketed this show was. Then again, I spend much of my viewing time with PBS and cable networks like HBO, TNT, SciFi channel, TCM, AMC, History Channel and USA (**NOT** the fake wrestling, thank you!!!) -- and I never saw an ad for Kings on any of those networks, but the ads should have been there. Considering the similarity of audiences, NBC should have been promoting Kings during shows like The Closer, Saving Grace, In Plain Sight, ER, In Treatment, and True Blood. In fact, HBO would be a great place for Kings to get a second run -- if the cable network were willing to pick it up or NBC were willing to sell it. They should. But perhaps that that makes too much sense for NBC execs to grasp it.

We Love Ian McShane, and would definitely love to see him into a series he is such a strong male actor and could do any part, we loved him in deadwood and missed this series with him in kings at first but we watch it and loved him in that, I get the concept of the cancellation I think it would have worked too, Maybe you can make another series and put him as the main character,,.his acting abilities as a good guy, a mysterious guy, or the villian is all so possible and worth watching, thank you and good luck,,,, and keep them coming!

As usual, something finally comes on television I love a d is a good show and it gets cancelled. If it's not a no braqiner reality show or an inane comnedy,m the networks don't continue it. Unforturnatelym, those of us who like any type of interlligent, educational, or thought provoking shows have to turn to cable. How sad!

I was utterly dismayed when I learned that Kings was being canceled, like many others here have said, I also watched the entire season on Hulu. I saw the commercials and thought the show looked vaguely interesting, but had no idea the plot line was a retelling of the Biblical King David. I came across it only a few weeks ago online and was hooked after the first episode. It is perhaps the best show I have seen on network television. I really do hope that HBO or another networks picks it up--I've never been so excited for a Season II only to find that it doesn't exist. It's criminal really.

Consumer Report 2005 Auto Magazine article titled "U.S. autos narrow the gap". An article just a couple years after GM tries to gain 2% of the market share. Both laughable then, and obviously laughable to everyone now... What's the point? Hollywood is the next Detroit. They have no idea when they make the mark, miss the mark, or why anything works or doesn't. It all doesn't matter; sponsors are going to eventually find somewhere else to be loyal to when determining where to put their tons of advertising money. Broadcast TV is scrambling to always hit the grand slam without the patience or care to build viewer royalty. Put a $4 million per episode show on Sunday, with trailer commercials that look schizophrenic, and 3 weeks later move it to Saturday? If there isn't some hidden ulterior motive, then they must be as lost as Detroit with the same deserving fate. Cable, Satellite, Netflix, ... --> take your pick and if something on network is worth watching and the network doesn't discard it like a step child, then you can get the series on DVD when it makes it past the assembly line.

At least I'm glad that SOME people in this world enjoy/understand the talented and intricate production. Seriously, I can hardly believe that someone could watch an episode of Kings and NOT be in love with it or at the very LEAST enjoy it. I've read the other comments too... it's great to see that there are others just as enraged and hurt by NBC's actions. They are totally right: it was terribly publicized/promoted, it should have been on primetime, and other media besides T.V. should have been taken into ratings consideration. I feel so betrayed by the cancellation of this show... it lacks closure! At the very least, they could have tried to wrap up some of the loose ends that were intended for future seasons in a couple of episodes, or maybe given the show to another network as others have suggested. Just continue the show for the sake of art and ingenuity everywhere!

It may have been too complicated for the current audience as they have been numbed and brainwashed by sell-out programming and such, but I'm sure people would have eventually awoken from their stupor and gotten behind Kings 100%. I myself watch very little T.V.; my time is reserved for shows which actually MOVE me such as Lost or Kings. This cancellation is a stab in the back.

Kings is a an anti America show. If you are a communist , live under a KING or DICTATOR or live in a third world country and under a KING's rule you will like kings. But in America and other freedom loving countries we do not want this type of rule. Maybe if NBC would write about what people want - they would get viewers. Here is an idea, a pro-america show! Wow what a concept. Not everyone hates america - and people do not want to watch a show about an alternate america where a king rules - we have alternate realtiy star trek ( a positive show ) for that. People are not dumb. NBC hire some pro-american writers. Immigrants with another perspective who love america to get some new shows.

Great show! Unfortunately is was too intelligent for the average TV viewer. We watched every episode even though we knew it was going to end. Fantastic cast and exceptional writing.

If NBC is smart, they would take Kings and place it on their Universal TV channel on cable. I know they gambled on putting it on over-the-air TV, but someone in programing should have know that the amount of TV audiences that have have short attention span are growing. The TV audiences of today are overworked, overclocked, I-Need-Gratification-Now, generation. Kings is a show that would take an impatience audience too much to absorb. Thankfully there are still an audience that need quality programing if they are going to blow their money on a market that over-saturates itself with crap.

I think Bromstad under-estimates the intelligence of the viewer if she thinks Kings is a bit "high brow". Its a delight to get away from the mind numbing reality shows that we are being bombarded with. Programs like Kings and Eleventh Hour are a breath of fresh air . Will have to see if "Day One" lives up to all the hype and is not just a remake of "V" with modern sfx.
