After months of speculation, CNN has put the issue to rest. Piers Morgan will be taking over for Larry King when the venerable host ends Larry King Live.
While most know Morgan for his judging on America’s Got Talent, he actually has an impressive journalism career in the UK. He was the editor of the Daily Mirror newspaper and hosts an interview program called Piers Morgan’s Life Stories. Under the new deal with CNN, Morgan should be able to continue his involvement with Talent and Life Stories.
Morgan’s agent supposedly approached CNN about finding a spot for him early this year. Once King announced his retirement, the talks shifted to Morgan possibly taking over.
Morgan’s new show will be based in New York but will also work in London and Los Angeles. He’s said that he’d like to interview President Obama for his first show. He said, “I think Obama is someone who is going through a pretty tough time. Outside of America, people love him.”
King’s last day on the job will be December 16th.
What do you think? Do you think Morgan’s a good replacement? Will you tune in?
