Last Resort: Final Episode Details for Cancelled ABC Series

Last Resort series finaleThe alphabet network has released details about the final episode of Last Resort. Though the network calls it a “season finale,” everyone involved with the show acknowledges that it won’t be back for season two.

Unlike fellow cancellation casualty 666 Park Avenue, at least we know that ABC will actually air the final episode of Last Resort. The last installments of 666 may air this summer.

Here’s the press release (beware of spoilers):

“Controlled Flight Into Terrain” – In the exciting season finale, a violent battle for control erupts on the submarine, which leaves the Colorado vulnerable to capture by a third party — one with an exploitative plan. Can Marcus and Sam take control of the sub before it’s too late? The season finale of “Last Resort” airs THURSDAY, JANUARY 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Last Resort” stars Andre Braugher as Captain Marcus Chaplin, Scott Speedman as XO Sam Kendal, Daisy Betts as Lieutenant Grace Shepard, Dichen Lachman as Tani Tumrenjack, Daniel Lissing as SEAL Officer James King, Sahr Ngaujah as Mayor Julian Serrat, Camille de Pazzis as Sophie Girard, Autumn Reeser as Kylie Sinclair, Jessy Schram as Christine Kendal and Robert Patrick as Master Chief Joseph Prosser.

Guest Cast: Michael Mosley as SCPO Hal Anders, Michael King as Petty Officer Kevin Hawkes, Chin Han as Mr. Zheng Min, Robert Davison as Kowalski, Jason Beghe as Wes Porter.

“Controlled Flight Into Terrain” was written by Karl Gajdusek & David Wiener and directed by Michael Offer.

What do you think? Will you be tuning in? Do you think the series finale of Last Resort will be a satisfying end?

I can’t believe this show has been cancelled!!! It is so good, the characters are so well cast, the acting is awesome . Everyone I know watches it and loves it. Whoever is making this decision is making a bad call. This show has the potential to be a Hugh hit. I am really going to miss it. I wish another network would pick this show up.

I am disappointed this show is not being picked up. It is one of the few TV shows I watch. My husband and I will miss it. MAYBE there will be enough feedback by viewers ABC will change their minds.

We are highly disappointed with ABC. We have stayed with Last Resort. This network is going to continue to lose viewers the way they do not care about us.

I can’t believe abc would cancel a show that has such great depth and an amazing story line. I don’t watch much tv due to the fact the majority of it is “reality”. It truly saddens me that abc hasn’t even given it a chance nor listened to the fans. They have an amazing group of actors who definitely deserve execs to stand behind them and create amazing tv. After this ends I will no longer watch abc for any reason.

Shows like Honey Freakin Boo Boo can get signed up for multiple seasons, but a show with talented actors and an actual thought out story line gets cancelled? I’m not in the military and I’ve seen comments from those in the military that have commented on this show saying it’s not “realistic” as far a military goes but it’s tv and it’s entertainment. Even reality tv isn’t real. This show has such appeal and potential. The greedy old men at ABC are just looking to make even more money on something new. It amazes me how so many networks can run the same reruns day after day and week after week but this amazing show gets cancelled. It just isn’t right. If it weren’t for Scandal, I’d scratch ABC off my list entirely.

I agree with your post! All these crappy show they decide to keep on and they cut LAST RESORT loose?? I loved this show and will hate to see it go!

The show had depth. Characters, plotlines and vast possibilities should have meant nothing but blue skies and deep blue seas. The networks have proved once again to be the Bermuda Triangle to creativity. A perfect storm to competent management. The best hope for all of us that really like the show and characters is to have the series picked up and developed by a cable channel.

It was the only show I watch on network TV and the cancellation decision is the biggest reason why I usually only watch cable channels. Networks only care about making the cheapest shows (i.e. reality) that cater to the simplest minds. Network TV is dying. I won’t miss them.

I’ll watch it only because I’ve invested hours doing so. Hopefully, this finale looks like a final not a season final.

Lost was a train wreck and that’s why everyone followed it. There is nothing that is hard to follow on this series if you watched the episodes. Try again watching it On Demand and report back. You’ll see just how easy it is to follow.

I think it is a damn shame they have cancelled such a fine show. I don’t know who or what is behind the cancellation of this show but it shouldn’t have happened. This show was truly a great show and I am going to miss watching it each week.
