Year-to-year, the network was up slightly but that’s not very encouraging when you consider ABC was airing the big bomb known as Charlie’s Angels. It was a distant third in its timeslot in the demo and a close third in viewers — behind The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men on CBS and The X Factor on FOX. This is a tough timeslot but Last Resort clearly didn’t rise to the challenge.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

I’m such a picky tv watcher and i thought last resort was the best of the new shows this season. It seems like now Networks don’t give any new series a try. There’s like 3 episodes & decision made.

It really is one of the best shows on TV. Great acting and an interesting story. It has excellent drama and really in many ways is as if not more interesting than Homeland. Watch it!

Best new show on TV this season! I hope it will stay, but I am reminded of The Event which was excellent and cancelled. The people that run these networks need to have their behinds whipped for leading us on and dropping a show without a meaningful conclusion.

  5. Duane says

Looks like it might be cancelled. :>( Hope they at least give it an ending. This show should only be 1 season anyway. can’t stay on island 3-4 “years”.

It’s not about how good the program is as much as how many viewers are watching the commercials during the show. Many people DVR shows and skip the commercials which skews the numbers that indicate it’s popularity. The sponsors only care about you (the viewers) being exposed to their advertisements. So, if a particular program time-slot doesn’t fit our schedule, we must depend upon a multitude of other viewers to be available and present during that time-slot so they can be solicited by the show sponsors in your absence. This is what determines the success of any program series.

I wish there was another way!

Love the show. Very provocative with good writing and very moving. Hope that it’s not cancelled one of my favorite shows.

Last Resort is smart and makes you stop and think, plus, it keeps me on the edge of my chair,
AND I like the dynamics among the actors. Sort of sad when you see the lesser caliber of a lot of the TV shows with higher ratings.
