While today’s NBC infront presentation brought good news for fans of struggling shows like Heroes and Parks and Recreation. Those who enjoy Life weren’t so lucky.
Life revolves around detective Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis), a man who served a dozen years for murders that he didn’t commit. He lost all that was dear to him but survives thanks to his studies of Zen philosophy. He eventually rejoins the LAPD but is a very different man. Others in the cast include Sarah Shahi, Adam Arkin, Brent Sexton, Donal Logue, Brooke Langton, Robin Weigert, Jennifer Siebel, Victor Rivers, and Jessy Schram.
The NBC drama debuted in September 2007 to 10.15 million viewers and a 4.1/11 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. Later episodes sank to a low of 5.72 million and a 2/6. If not for the writers strike, NBC would have cancelled Life after one year. The execs instead decided to give it another try and renewed the series for a second season.
Unfortunately, the next round of episodes didn’t perform any better than the first. NBC needs fewer shows next season because of their Jay Leno experiment but, even if they didn’t, Life wouldn’t be coming back with such poor ratings.
NBC’s co-chair, Ben Silverman, made it official today and confirmed that Life won’t be coming back next season. Thankfully, the last episode of the series gave viewers some closure and answers to ongoing questions. These days, that’s a luxury that few other shows are given.

Our family loves LIFE and hopes that a smart network will pick the show up for a third season and more! Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi have great chemistry and work well as a team. I hope NBC reconsiders and bring us back our favorite show…….LIFE.
We really enjoyed Life. Charlie’s wit was great and the stories were always good plus he had the puzzle he was working on trying to figure out who actually killed that family. How can we get them to change their minds & bring it back?! There’s so many stupid shows on right now. Can’t believe they cancelled this one.

This is the second NBC show I’ve allowed myself to get into only to have it end abruptly and in mid-plot. I was away from this channel for a while because of it and only returned when I heard the buzz about LIFE. I first watched online to get caught up and now it’s over. It’s not the network’s fault that people stop watching but they need to consider that some of us watch more TV online than anywhere else. Those viewers should also be counted in the ratings. It’s not like we don’t sit through commercials there too. I hope someone else picks them up or they put they give them a new time slot, anything but canceling.
CONNERIES !! I love Life !! This is so stupid !!!! The season 2 has just finished in France and when I see the so stupid shows which have an enormous succes, I am not amazed to read a so sad piece of news What kind of stupid lad can tell to stop the show ?

Life was good the first season. The writing and and directing definitely went down hill in season II. Still sorry to see it go.
What an extraordinary series! Congrats to the writers for making the Charlie Crews character so fantastic. It’s with great regret that we bid the series farewell. But I have one last request: Can they please make the soundtrack to this series available! The music and tracks were brilliant! Just loved the music second to Charlie Crews! Thank you DAMIAN LEWIS for bringing this character to life! We really loved him!!

I have been waiting months for Life to start a new season, so i googled the show and find out it has been cancelled, what is wrong with you people, finally a great and interesting show that keeps you wondering and it is cancelled!!!! I agree with the above. My husband and I really ejoyed this show and all the characters. Great storyline. How do we compain to the network? I think ratings dropped because they keep switching the nights and time slot.
Bring Life back – and stop playing with it’s time slot. It is a great show.

What I meant to type was, “If I had a choice, I would choose LIFE!”. I hope a cable network will find this series interesting enough to continue producing. There is a chemistry between the leading characters that makes a great series. Law and Order SVU has that chemistry. The series Bones has the same chemistry.
