Why did CBS cancel Limitless? At this summer’s TCA press tour, network chief Glenn Geller explained why there will be no second season of the series, TVInsider reports.
Based on the 2011 film, the drama followed Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who is given a special drug that unlocks 100% of his brain. The cast also included Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
During the panel, Geller said CBS cancelled Limitless because he didn’t “think it connected with the viewers”:
Ultimately we had to look at the show; it was a very good show, but I don’t think it connected with the viewers as well as other shows had. Yeah, we could have brought it back. But we also have to put on new shows and give other things a shot. It could have come back, but we have to do better; we want to improve time periods. That’s why we put on new shows.”
What do you think? Did you watch Limitless? Do you think the show should’ve been renewed?
I thought is was a great show and I’m sadden its not coming back for a 2nd season.
I thought the show was great, especially being based off of a movie. Mr. Geller saying that it did not connect with viewers as much as they wanted is a bold statement. Usually when a show airs it is on every week on the same day and time. Mr. Geller didn’t do that with this show. It would be on for 3 weeks and then it would be 4 weeks before a new show. It was all over the place. I thought it was a great show and couldn’t wait for a new show to air. If they aired the… Read more »
I personally love the show I thought it was funny I like the way that Brian would more less be the commentary telling us what was going on as it was happening or what was going to happen, it seriously is one of my top shows that I love I’m very disappointed to hear that they cancelled and I really hope that with enough comments it will be brought back it was different there so many shows out there that are alike, I was very impressed with the show so I hope enough of us can bring it back thank… Read more »
I’m extremely sad that the show is not going to have a second season. There are many shows out there today, but not many that make you hopeful for second chances like Brian Finch’s story. A story that calls attention to a hopeful optimism, a great gatsby like yearning for something better. I guess we will have to settle for mundane garbage again.
I cannot believe there will not be season 2 of limitless.. it has everything, suspence, drama, comedy, and action. Foolish for nothe creating another season, “it didn’t connect with the viewers” what a joke. Dude did you even watch the show? Big mistake.. already miss Brian Finch
Just watched last episode of Limitless series 1 and am extremely disappointed there will be no series 2. Fabulous, addictive series.

YES! There should be a comeback of limitless. It was one of the best new show. Unbelievable that you cut it CBS!
Very disappointed it was cancelled. Had spunk, wit, intelligence; all of which are missing from 90% of today’s shows.
It was a very catchy series…I loved watching it…very disappointed 🙁
I would watch it any day of the week
Limitless was a great show and we always looked forward to watching it. You’re wrong! Many people connected with it. Bring it back!
Great show. Mistake to not continue.
I don’t understand how it was considered that Limitless, “didn’t connect with the viewers”?…I thought it was an interesting, creative idea to put into motion and the cast was catching on also….loved the vulnerable, humor and idealism of the Brian Finch role played by Jake McDorman and Jennifer Carpenters character were beginning to develop a working friendship that improved the show…like Lethal Weapon relationship development is key, but can take some time (tho not too long) to develop….When I see an IZombie commercial I am fairly certain that network decision makers are those who have lost touch with the public,… Read more »
