What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, MacGyver follows the 20-something year old Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Lucas Till). Young Mac has created a clandestine organization within the U.S. government. There, he uses his scientific knowledge and problem-solving acumen to save lives. MacGyver’s team includes maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton (George Eads); former field agent and current Director of Operations, Patricia Thornton (Sandrine Holt); as well as the mercurial hacker Riley Davis (Tristin Mays). Back home, Mac enjoys the company of his ambitious roommate, Wilt Bozer (Justin Hires). Under the auspices of the Department of External Services, MacGyver is bent on saving the world, armed with just his raw talents, a little bubble gum, and a paper clip.
Season One Ratings
MacGyver’s ratings have slid quite a bit since the TV series premiere, particular in the demo. However, in terms of average total audience size, the drama does well, considering it airs on Friday nights. If MacGyver can maintain its ratings, it’s likely CBS will renew MacGyver for season two. The network needs new dramas. However, if the show’s ratings drop much lower, frankly, it’s going to take more than Mac himself, to save it.
3/23 update: I’ll look elsewhere for my meal. MacGyver has been renewed for season two on CBS. Details here.
