It’s the end of the competition for Make It or Break It. ABC Family has cancelled the TV show after three seasons on the air.
Make It or Break It revolves around top young gymnasts who are training for the Olympics. The series debuted in mid-June 2009 to a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.5 million total viewers. The ratings fell as low as a 0.6 in the demo with 1.9 million but that was still enough for the cable channel to renew it for a second season of 20 episodes.
The ratings got worse in season two but ABC Family still renewed Make It or Break It for a third season. This time however, they only ordered eight episodes. According to network president Michael Riley, it was “in time to ignite Olympic fever.”
If there were a possibility of ABC Family ordering a fourth season, those chances were pretty quickly dashed. Season three debuted to a 0.7 in the demo and 1.57 million. By week two, viewership had dropped off more than 25% and the numbers fell further in week three.

The five episodes of season three that have aired thus far have averaged a 0.5 in the demo with 1.23 million total viewers.
At least part of the decline may have been due to the losses of Chelsea Hobbs and Josh Bowman (who’s now on Revenge). Coach Sasha (Neil Jackson) also hasn’t been seen much this season.
Of the cancellation, series creator Holly Sorenson tweeted, “MIOBI nation. We all love you so much. And we are, very sadly, three weeks away from the series finale of #miobi.”
The final episode of Make It or Break It airs on May 14th.
What do you think? Were you still watching? Are you sad that the show is ending?

We NEED to see the team that wins the GOLD and we NEED to see which gymnasts win individual medals!!!!!! You can show this with only one more season…how hard is that?!?!
I started watching and it got hooked. Great actors and actresses, really inspired me to never give up on my dreams. Why cancel such a GREAT show and you can’t just leave it where it ends on episode 8 of season three. I want to find out if these girls who worked so hard and learned so much actually win the gold at the Olympics. It’s not fair to the actress who are inspiring people who watch their show and it especially isn’t fair to those they inspired. Why just because people are not watching the show??? That just goes… Read more »
We need season 4
I agree we do. And it crap they are taking a wonderful show away from people that actually care and watch the show and was inspired by them girls.

This show is perfect and it can’t be cancelled. I’ve watched a million Times and i love it. All fans need season Four, please.
I’ve watch every episode a million times. I was a gymnast was a really long time and had to stop because of an injury. I plan on returning but this show really showed the struggles that you go through. I loved it so much. They need a season 4.
i myself am an athlete and the show might mean differently to me than others but all my friends who arent Athletes go crazy and enjoy watching this show , it needs another season even know fans will go crazy.
this show is a perfect example of what athletes go through not only that but the show got better as the seasons went on and the girls grew , and us the fans we watched their growth and everything they went through , we deserve as much as they do to see them go on to the big O. The writers owe it to us and if the season does come back it will bigger than Pasons come back herself. 1 2 3 , 3 2 1
i really want the show to go on for another season i had just started watching it with cox (contour) & finished the series within 3 days …but i was disappointed when it ended.
I loved this show my daughter is gymnastics and it has given her hope to do better and follow her dream she’s 7 this show means a lot to us and i don’t care about ratings this show proves that if you never give up on your dreams you can make them come true and the episode were Jordan breaks her silence about being molested can help others watching have the courage to speak up to its empowerment and very sad I hope abc changes their minds they missing out on a great show that shows if you believe you… Read more »
I was so disappointed when the show was canceled! I absolutely love this show!! I was hooked from the very begging, and never lost interest! If anything I would say that the show got better! I would love for an episode showing who got gold in the olympics! I was very angry at the ending! The end should have been with one of them standing on the podium! I, along with a ton of other fans, would absolutely love for a new season!!
I accidentally started watching this show when it started playing on Hulu. I was hooked from the start. I was bummed when Chelsea Hobbs left. To see it end in the way it did was disappointing. Their dream was to win gold in the 2012 Olympics and we never got to see if they achieved that. You could still bring it back and they are older but do a get together where the reminisce and we still get to see what happens. Give the fans something. (Please don’t forget to bring back Emily either.)
I’m so bummed!! I signed up for a Hulu trial just so I could binge watch this show! I can’t believe there’s no ending! I want to see everything they’ve been building up towards at the Olympics! There are no good gymnastics shows out there & this show was really filling a need!! Is there anyway to revive it??!
I think Make it or Break it fans are die hard… even many years later… we’re all still awaiting a come back of a season 4… with so many internet stations… I feel like there must be a way to make this happen…
These girls are such role models, so sad to see the show end! I would do anything to see more of the show !
