Detective Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee) has sung his last Elvis song and solved his last case. TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two season on the air.
A TNT spokesperson said, “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat… The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” The last episode aired on August 16th.
Beat was the last of the TNT dramas to have its fate decided. The cable channel renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and Franklin & Bash but cancelled Beat, HawthoRNe, and Men of a Certain Age. Men had the worst ratings of the three axed series while HawthoRNe and Beat were next in line.
Lee will next be seen on NBC’s Up All Night and Beat creators/spouses Liz Garcia and Josh Harto recently sold a new drama to the peacock network called The Meadows.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Memphis Beat has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

Everyone I know is disappointed in the cancellation of Memphis Beat and have all been waiting for the new season. That being said we have decided to jump ship and watch a different station. Longmire does not have the cool music and attitude we liked but, some of the other broadcasters are coming up with some quirky shows that we will enjoy. Check out The Glades.
What we needed was another season of Memphis! Who cares about Franklin and Bash! Like we can’t see two attorneys on any other TV station, Get Real! My husband I watched Memphis every week cause we loved the theme, the music and the Chevy Jason drove and of course we loved Dwight Hendricks and his mama!
Sure wish it hadn’t gotten cancelled. It was a great show. What’s wrong with the people who make those decisions anyway?!?
I agree with all the others. I kept thinking maybe they were keeping it to run when all the other shows were reruns and I finally Googled it. So sorry to hear it was cancelled. Memphis Beat was great all the way around-acting, plots, locations, blues. Please bring it back!!
I loved the show and the character interaction. They were regular people with some issues that we all face, and the plot twists were interesting. I loved the Elvis songs. jw
As usual, the trash keeps on mounting while the cream gets poured down the drain. My wife and I were looking forward to a story line with characterization, plot and depth, but most of all Memphis had southern charm and manners–none of which is present in an ever faster society. I’m sorry that the singing cop copped his last song–and yet the crap keeps on singing the same ol’ trash.
I should have known. Chances are, if I like a program, it won’t be around long. I don’t get it. It seems that great story lines and characters just don’t make it in our society. I find it disheartening that there is a big enough audience for something like Jerry Springer, Dr. Phil, reality shows and just plain ol’ crap in general. What is wrong with the viewing public? I’m going to miss those quirky characters.
I have been looking and looking for Memphis Beat to return so decided to check on the Internet. Can’t believe it was cancelled, we loved that show.. They always seem to cancel the good ones.
I totally agree, i loved that show and was looking forward to season 3.

I loved this show so did my family and friends. A lot of people are upset and mad, there aren’t many wholesome good movies out there, but this was one so many loved and enjoyed and ya’ll just yanked the plug without any thoughts of us the fans and viewer’s of the show. Hoping someone would reconsider this and bring it back to the viewer’s. It was my favorite tv show, so I hope you will reconsider and recall the cancellation.
As usual they cancel all the good shows. I loved the show! They seem to cancel all the shows that have anything to do with the south! Is it because we are not as glamorous as other cities! What can we do to bring it back?
I loved the show, but as usual they cancel the good shows!
Another show too good to stay on the air! Wonderful acting! I enjoyed the characters and the writing had an edge that was different than everything else on tv.
Memphis Beat was one of my favorite shows. I sure wish they would bring it back. I just found out today it was cancelled. Would they consider putting it back on the air.
I loved Memphis Beat and just learned that it was cancelled! The cast was terrific and the humor and mystery were a great combination. There just needs to be a better way to advertise these shows that don’t get many viewers. If word had gotten out sooner as to the awesomeness of this fun show, it may not have been cancelled. I am really, really sad to not be able to watch it this summer.
This was one of the best cop shows on TV. I liked it because it was based in the SOUTH where I’m from. There needs to be more shows made in the SOUTH instead of New York or Chicago or LA or San Francisco.
Are you kidding? This was one of our favs..I can’t believe you cancelled this series. Bring it back!!!
