OMG – I’ve only recently found out that ‘Mental’ existed and I believe it has been around since 2009! I have watched all 13 episodes every spare minute I’ve had! Im gutted to find out that there is no season 2. Mental is a great show! I work within the profession myself and enjoyed the whole lot. Was this programme shown in the UK?

Watched this in England, how annoying that there are not going to be any more, it was a great show have been watching house since the start and it is easily as good as house, what a shame.

Several shows don’t make it during the first session-that doesn’t mean you should give up and cancel them. We need a show like Mental to help people empathize with the nurmous number of Americans that struggle with “mental illness.” The people at FOX give up too easily!

I was very disappointed to see this show leave. It was one of the few shows that gave more than one viewpoint on psychological disorders. The healer vs. the greedy and in the case of the show continuing the greedy ones win again.

i’ve just seen this show and i believe it is as briliant as house md. but house md has at least 6 seasons and nobody is afraid it is getting boring! why are people being afraid this new could be?! i would like so much to see a second season of mental!

It’s a pity,because of a stupid show rating tv this series like many others got suspended. It was intelligent, fascinating and infomative tv show. Wonderful acting and very interesting characters. I hope it will be a second season one day.

I am gutted this was an amazing series which really depicted mental health better than any other show. Also Chris Vance played his role as a psychiatrist in an amazing way and treats a patient how I would like to be treated if I had a mental health problem. As a mental health nurse I felt this gave fantastic insight and helped to reduced stigma within mental health.

Aw really!? Its excelllent one of the best portrays of mental health ive seen! Talking from a patient myself its excellent and just so much better that the stereotypic crap you always get. Trust one of the best things to happen that can actually help the stigma in the Mental Health battle to get no viewings and it be cancelled thats just typical! I agree with others i bet people are happy to watch the innacurate imitations on soaps and what not. IM really dissapointed to hear this i only hope that one day something similar will be brought out and to be frank i think all mental health professionals should watch it to learn a thing or two, if doctors like jack actually existed in the profession i think so much more good can be done, as even though mental health is so fluid, the professionals are the most judgemental and stereotypical about id love to come across someone with that mindset!

Just finished watching this series on iTunes. Thought it was a great series. Really liked Chris Vance. Wonder at the end with him quiting if that was done on purpose to kill the series. At least it did not leave us hanging. Maybe the second season would not have been so good. Anyways thought it was a great show.

It wasn’t just the show, but the main star and some of the other characters that made it so good. And they left us hanging which really stinks!!
Bring the show back — and get rid of House, M.D.!! Mental was so much better.

I was honestly disappointed to see that this show got canceled. It was my all-time favorite TV series that had be captured from the first episode. I had no way to watch it on TV, but had to follow it online during the summer due to my work hours.

This show deserves the chance that it wasn’t getting. I simply believe that it wasn’t well enough known to have been given a fair chance. Play it during the work year, for fun, and see if the ratings go up.

I loved that show. I find it very interesting and educational to watch such shows. Despite that the show was not real and was fictional. It was my favourite show. I doubt that FOX did a poll or even thought about the fact that there are those of us out here that love that show. I am a Canadian and I honestly think that they did the wrong thing by taking it off the air.

I almost have to believe that most people don’t care too much about what happens to their love ones if they fall victim to the fraud of psychiatry. Facts don’t always reveal the truth and many suffer from mainstream thinking telling us what is a disease and what isn’t.
When laziness becomes a disease and people are given meds…maybe the brainwashed will awaken to think for themselves.

Very disappointed. Loved the show. Nice to see mental illness treated openly and honestly and with no prejudice. Loved the techniques used. Real psychiatrists should have been watching and learning a thing or two. Nice while it lasted. Bring it back!!!!

Too bad….not often does TV respect the the mental health community. A lot of important truths were incorporated into the stories. The series advocated for a population that seldom gets beyond portrayls of “funny” and “quirky”. Maybe too much truth is not wanted!

Really? That stinks! I loved the show Mental, Dr. Jack Gallagher was great!
If you change your minds, I will spread the word, I work in the Mental Health field and it was great to have hollywood’s take on psychiatric disabilities.
Please bring the show back or at least, Dr. Gallagher!!!

I too really hate to see that Mental is not returning. It was a good thing, to have a show that didn’t demonize the mentally ill for a change. I wonder if it just hit too close to home for a lot of folks who have some prejudice against mentally ill people–or maybe too many of us, deep in our hearts, are afraid we might become those people.

Thanks for the show anyway. Maybe someday, another producer will be brave enough to try this plot line again.

I for one am very very very sAddened that it’s cancelled! It was no lie my all time favorite show! And I watch a lot of TV. I think that if fox like asked us what we think… They would get a different answer because i think a lot of people love it. It made me think about possibly wanting to be a phyciastrist when I got older and I may never know now… Because I’ll never see it again! :’(((( I am sad. U should be ashamed fox!!!

Great show. Fox tends to do this a lot though. Make a great show, but give it no advertising then blame it for failing. I personally didn’t watch Firefly either because I was too young or didn’t hear about it but it suffered the same fate from what I’ve heard. I’m just glad Fringe made it going on three seasons now.

I think the problem with good shows getting cancelled is the fact they don’t have a chance. I saw very little advertising for this show…except on the network. I wish Fox would give it another chance because they are starting to push out some good shows this past year and maybe people would stay tuned!!!

I am very sad and disappointed that show gave me hope i have been dealing with bipiloar for years and have been in and out of psych units and has stoped me from going back in hospitals and hope me to cope are there any other programs that could relate to this series is there a chance for a return i think this is sad i liked the way things were dealt with and i have used these copig skills in my life thanks alot to taking away something that helps people and gives hope.

I am SO disappointed that Mental has been canceled!!!!
I loved the show! And I agree with anyone who wrote that they dislike those stupid, so-called “reality” shows.
Mental was even better than House because Chris Vance was involved with his patients in a
genuinely caring way, with the added bonus of him being so great to look at!
I hope FOX or some other station re-thinks their decision and brings back the show!
Stations take off popular shows (or shows that could be popular if given a chance with more promos, etc.) and leave on horrible ones. Look what CBS did with Moonlight (Alex O’Loughlin) — I loved that show and it was so popular that fans started a blood-drive to keep it on (ok, that was a little over-the-top, but it did make a statement) and then all of a sudden vampire shows and movies got popular. At least Moonlight had a sensitive storyline and he was a good person, not just a blood-sucking killer.
They do NOT keep on the shows that have heart and soul, and a true fan-base.

It was a very good program, but very few people knew about it. No promotion by Fox. Why would you put a program on in the summer when there are fewer viewers anyway and not tell anyone about. It was an excellent drama mixed with humor and caring. Please reconsider for another time.

Very very sad this show was not given a chance for viewers to take notice. I truly believe it would have taken off in the next season. It was very original, and like many other comments, I think people just weren’t aware of it. The last show of the season was brilliant. These corporations making these decisions have cancelled so many great shows. I say at least don’t leave a series hanging like Kyle XY! I am almost afraid to get caught up in a new series only to see it get cancelled.

Really upset that Mental got cancelled. Fox keeps cancelling the shows that I like–I think I need to stop watching any Fox shows because one week they’re on and the next week they’re gone. I agree that reality tv is ruining it for the non-reality show loevers.

i think this show didnt work becasue no one really knew about it. Everyone i showed an episode to, they really liked it. I think if it would have come back for a second season, and had been adverised better it would have taken off. It was a great cast, and great episodes.
