Monday Mornings: TNT Show Cancelled, No Second Season

Monday Mornings canceled, no season twoIn addition to dropping Southland, TNT has also cancelled Monday Mornings. There won’t be a second season for the freshman medical drama.

Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.

The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.

The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

That just wasn’t enough for TNT to want to order a second season and they’ve now officially cancelled it.

What do you think? Are you sorry that TNT has pulled the plug on Monday Mornings? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

Monday Mornings is the best show on TV. It is intelligent, realistic, entertaining, and leaves one still thinking about it after it’s over. Keong Sim is totally brilliant and my husband and I still talk ‘like him’ around the house. “dead dead”. I was hoping TNT would support this quality show by renewing it for another season. It so refreshing to get away from bathroom humor, laugh tracks for stupid comments, We can learn much from Sanjay Gutpa, please renew this show.

Monday Mornings was a great show with good story plots and great cast. As I remember Hiklks Strret Blues started off slow and thge second season the show caught on, same with a bunch of others, sometimes they just pull the plug too soon.

I am SO sick of every good, adult drama on TV being cancelled and being replaced with more reality crap like the stupid Splash show, or more sci-fi, or more blood to the max serial killers. I loved “Monday Mornings”. I should have known it would get cancelled…but dang you didn’t even give it a chance!! I just found out ABC also cancelled another of my favorite shows, “Body of Proof”, another one with a great cast, good storylines, something I looked forward to. I think I’ll just give up TV and go back to reading books. Satisfaction without constant worry of cancellation.

Please bring this awesome show back! I loved this show and so did my mother who is 80 years old. There are a lot of seniors you know!

I really enjoyed this show. I think it was a very moving program. It was much better than many of the sitcoms, reality shows, and soap dramas. I thought it was off the air temporarily due to NBA basketball. I was very disappointed to learn that was cacancelled.

A decent shows comes on and it gets cancelled! I am sick of nothing but (un}reality shows. This country is losing sight of what is real and what is not.

I can’t believed they cancelled this show!! I was into it from the very first episode. I don’t know why they don’t give some shows a chance to grow before they cancel it. I was so hoping to make this my new favorite show. It is amazing the crap they bring back. On well, guess I will have more reading time now.

Yes, please reconsider this renewing this show. Was absolutely fantastic! I am very disappointed with it not being renewed. Was the best medical show I have ever watched!
It was a well written, & acted show, that is intelligent, & definitely something worth watching.
Again, because of the 18 to 49 year old demographics… are networks afraid of shows that mature audiences want to watch?? BabyBoomers watch the most TV if Networks care to look!!! And most are more savvy to well written shows, BUT advertisers think not, yuck what a viscous circle!

I stumbled across this show while surfing….My husband and I were immediately hooked. It is a great show, with a great cast. The story lines are very much in the news today. I did not see any promotions for Monday Mornings. I don’t think you can judge a really good show with only 1 season and no promotion. Most of the programs on tv are for people who are brain dead! This is a very thought provocking series. Please give it another season, at least enough for people to find it….Please please do not cancel Mond ay Morning s

They didn’t advertise it well enough. My classmate told me about it! That’s sad that they cancel everything worth watching!!!

I wasn’t sure what this show was about to begin with b/c of the title. But after watching a couple episodes, I was quite impressed with this series!! I’m a nurse in the operating room & this show by far has some of the best portrayals of what the operating room is like. I hate these hospital shows where the doctors come in scrubbed & their masks are down like on Grey’s or they don’t at least try to use accurate sterile technique!!! This one of course had some mistakes, but hey, it’s a TV show…..& I thought it was a great one!!! Please don’t cancel!!!
