Monday Mornings: To Be Cancelled or Renewed for Season Two?

Monday Mornings cancel or renew?TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?

Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.

The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.

The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.

But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?

IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RENEWED! It is not a soap opera like so many other doctor show, the characters are more clearly defined and very different from each other, it addresses issues that make one pause to think, it is well acted and scripted…and these are just off the top of my head.

The show should definitely be renewed for at least one more season to see if it can remain fresh and not become hackneyed, like so many other TV shows that have long outlived their initial premise. Right now, it’s excellent TV.

I LOVE it, think that it is great! I do hope it gets renewed, so much better than a lot of what is out there. I would have called it 3-1-1 though still do not know why his meetings are called that?

This is a great show! I’ve been waiting for another good medical drama since ER and this is it. Please bring it back for another season. I think this show needs to advertise more to get a bigger audience. I just happen to come across it while flipping through channels. Advertise on other channels! Talk about it on talk shows! This could really be a hit if more was done for it.

Love this show!! Great stories and acting. It was an odd name, too odd to catch the old Boston Legal fans.
we can’t wait to see next season.

Monday Morning was great and should be renewed. Don’t give up on it so fast. Cable shows take a while to get an audience. Between Castle and Monday Morning, its the only thing good about Monday’s.

This is a great show with a fantastic cast. I cannot believe that TNT would cancel it. Perhaps another station will pick it up.

Monday Mornings is the best doctor show that has EVER been on TV……. sortof a “House” with more attractive, totally plausible physician characters. Everything is soooo true to the medical profession. Put it on a different night! Advertise!

Best medical show I’ve ever watched. Also the best show of this season, regardless of genre. Everyone I told about the show became fans … 100% of them! Reason for cancellation … think about how well it might have done had it been on one of the big four networks. Not everyone has access to TNT. Of those that do, not everyone takes the time to navigate through the hundreds of competing channels. However, everyone I know, when channel surfing, starts with the big four. If your show isn’t on on of the big four, it has an uphill battle. Think about it.

This a great show! TV has finally provided a show that doesn’t have a lot of trash on it like all of the reality shows and it seems those are the one’s that they pull! It would be a shame if it were cancelled. My wife and I work opposite shifts so we DVR most of our shows and this is the 1st one we watch on Tuesday night!
