Monday Mornings: To Be Cancelled or Renewed for Season Two?

Monday Mornings cancel or renew?TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?

Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.

The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.

The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.

But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?

I work at a large teaching hospital and we LOVED it. Many times we discuss the ethics or procedures at our formal executive and department meetings. I hope they reconsider and continue the show. I find very few intelligent shows on tv, this is one of the best this season. I really don’t care for the reality and performance shows.

Please don’t take show off the air. I watch grey’s anatomy and I would say this is just as good. Acting is superb. Love all the actors. Great show.

Do not cancel this wonderfully acted, well presented series! My husband and I feel this is one of the best shows on television.. Not at a good time so we recorded it. So many medical problems presented and addressed. We were looking forward to another season!

Definitely keep “Monday Mornings”!!!! The plots were fantastic & the actors were terrific. Being on TNT, I think it needed advertised more. Watch it once & you’re hooked! PLEASE don’t cancel it!!

Monday Mornings is an awesome show, but had the worst air timing! Everybody is at work come 8-10:00 AM on Mondays including medical workers, the working class this show would most appeal too! I would have to wait till Tuesday nights just to watch it online! Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!

On the recommendation of a friend I recorded most of the shows for later viewing. The name of the show didn’t catch our attention at all. We have now seen all but the last 2 of these shows, watching at our leisure after supper, and we are totally hooked. We will be very disappointed if the series isn’t renewed. The cast and weekly story lines are excellent. The intellectual level of the medical cases and problem solving is exceptional. My wife and I feel that such a high standard of entertainment compared to many shows on TV, may encourage young people who see the program to seek intense and rewarding careers in the health care field.

Love this show. It’s the “smartest” thing I’ve seen on TV in a long time. Please renew. David Kelley’s name drew me to the series. Again. Renew!!
