Monday Mornings: To Be Cancelled or Renewed for Season Two?

Monday Mornings cancel or renew?TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?

Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.

The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.

The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.

But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?

Excellent program that should be given a chance to find an audience. It seems anything that requires a little thought is soon replaced by another mindless reality show. My husband also watches.

I love this show. Don’t cancel it. I really looked forward to each new episode.

It upsets me that another show may fall prey to the 18-49 year demographic. What about those of us that are older than that age bracket? It seems that there is a whole market there that advertisers would pick up.

Don’t let 18-49 decide what a 50-something should be watching….

One of the few shows I looked forward to watching. What a shame to cancel a show with a little different twist and doesn’t have a bunch of shoot-em-up bloodshed.

My husband and I love MONDAY MORNINGS!!! We feel it deserves many seasons to come!! We love David E. Kelley’s work…hated it when he decided to end Boston Legal…we still watch all seasons on DVD. I think TNT SHOULD NOT cancel Monday Mornings …It’s too bad that TNT cannot advertise it’s shows on the major network channels…would probably help boost viewership. We could do with less of the “reality” show idiocy and provide more diverse programming like Monday Mornings. I am insulted by the networks that think the American viewers are all idiots with the attention span of a gnat.

I loved this show. I loved the different spin on the medical drama formula. Focused on their accountability. Figures.

You need to find a way to spread the word about this show. It is EVERY bit as good as House, M.D. was, so I think that the problem is with the marketing and advertising of it’s existence. It is a Emmy award show. Bring it back and tell TV viewers what it is and when it is on…you won’t regret it.

I am so upset to see this show get flushed! This was an EXCELLENT show, just knew it was coming back for a second season. All the trashy, low down, ignorant shows stay on especially the reality shows. There were no previews for this show, it wasn’t hyped like some of the other shows and that could be the reason for the low ratings. I was flipping the channels when I found it, it caught my att’n and I became hooked. Excellent acting, great scripts…I protest, please, please put this back on the air

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Don’t cancel this show!! It’s one of the best I’ve seen
in a long time! Give it another season to catch on! Don’t be so hasty to cancel these cable shows. It just takes longer for people to hear about them than the Regular
Channels is all. There are 10 times or more cable channels to surf and it stands to reason that it takes 10 times longer for people to find the shows!

This show has it all! Don’t end it without giving it another chance.
